"Reach out", "moving forward" and "Diarise" are the ones that make my skin crawl.

He looked class for a while. Played out of his skin for a spell at Villa, and when first at united looked like he had been there for years. Performance levels just seem to have fallen off a cliff of late.

Interesting View on Attacking/Defending
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Could even have been 2 in 2 if he tried a dink over Boruc instead of throwing himself to the floor -
I'm really not trying to attack you, but can you not see how people get this picture of you? I know you deny it, and I think in fairness you were posting on saturday, but very often after a decent result you aren't around for days, immediately after a defeat you appear to be revelling in how crap we are, how poorly run we are, and how amazingly accurate your doomsday predictions are.

'The best coached team in the league by miles..'
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Ulrich van Gobbel's topic in The Saints
Pretty astute observation if I may say. It's one of the hardest positions to get right at the top, in my opinion. There are a fair number of players that have the ability, and are able to demonstrate fleeting moments of class (our Gaston being one), but those that consistently do the fantastic and split the well drilled defences you are bound to find at the top are your Ozils of this world. These players cost in excess of £30m. Are more often that not leading internationals, and usually playing Champions League football. Players like Gaston (i.e. #10s) frustrate so because it is about finding that consistently to supply that moment of magic several gives a game. It's hard to keep up, but those that do, who can be regular match winners. Their job is constantly try to pull off 'that' pass that splits a defence. Often, this won't come off - and yes, they may well give away possession more than most, which is also frustrating. But, this is their job, they aren't there to just move the ball on to a player 5 yards away, they are there to make things happen. It's all very well having the try hard runners, that never give the ball away (because they are constantly making 5 yard square passes), but the result of that is often the lack of penetration we saw against the likes of West Ham/Sunderland - also frustrating. Ultimately, we either need Gaston to come good (which I'm not writing off), or admit defeat and try another. It will require a bit of luck, and probably perseverance, as to get a top level #10 we will have to either unearth some gem, or take an unpolished player with talent and promise, and give them the time/coaching they need to start firing regularly. My biggest gripe with the whole Gaston saga, is that he has very rarely been given an extended run in the team. Due to injury, internationals, family matters etc. he has been in and out a lot. Some may see that as an excuse, but I think he may need that, and not having people get on his back every time a ball doesn't come off. It strikes me as people not understanding what his role is, in his role, he is bound to give the ball away at times. -
Would be an odd one. I thought he was basically waiting for them to make an offer? Kind of suggests it admits they were unable to do what they wanted over the summer. Can't see us letting him go (on loan/permanently) without a heavy premium. Juve are on the up, and making positive strides for sure, but do they really have that sort of financial muscle? Even if he wants to go, the thought of NC just bending over and saying take him cheap doesn't seem mighty likely to me.

Should we start a CSI Saintsweb?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to KelvinsRightGlove's topic in The Muppet Show
No investigations needed on Arcade Fire Tokes. They are the best band on the planets. CSI Saintsweb could be a force for good. -
So, it strikes me we have a lot of investigative types on here. Bear is known for his in depth investigations into mummy porn. Over on the moanboard, there are plenty of financial experts, able to pick apart clubs financial dealings, and their ramifications based on speculation and no informations! Plus on the lounge board, we have all sorts of forensic and crime scene investigators, and to balance all of our dealings we have pap covering the conspiracy theories - ensuring we see things through all the way to the top. So then, what should be CSI Saintsweb's first case?
-
Tokes - FYI he spat on my jacket. Also, Reginé hearts me. She told me so. I actually make a brief cameo in the above video, and the one above that. Arcade Fire + KRG = BFFs. Bear - you're just bitter you don't understand the songs yo. SuperMichael - yes.

Probably going to be away with the gf, so will be unable to watch. So far this season that means a Saints win, hope that continues. Plus my Fulham mate was rather smug all summer, thinking they were going to be above us - and was convinced they were getting Ossie for £8m. Hope he bangs in a hat-trick.

What supporting the Saints means to you?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to aussiesaint20's topic in The Saints
Yes -
I wonder why I said people get too hung up on fees. Yeah, Ramirez has worked out as planned. Don't think it has been as bad as some people want to make out. Osvaldo, far too early to tell either way just yet.
-
Where on earth have you got £45m on a player that cost £12m & a player that cost £15m? No mention of it on that thread. Utter nonsense, as usual.
-
I think they are lacking in imagination, and any real insights into what goes on on the pitch.
-
It's funny he is now a "run a lot, but isn't very good type player". I'd imagine you probably were one, but then contradicted it a month or so later.
-
Plenty on here. It's the go to criticism in lack of any real insights.
-
Guly = Lazy Gaston = Lazy Osvaldo = Lazy Seems like there is a pattern here.
-
Ah right, so the lazy South American tag comes out again. How original Barry.
-
We are really struggling without him.
-
Ok fair point, and I guess there were also threads about J-Rod after just a couple of games too. Still, I do think fans get overly hung up on fees - in particular when they are foreign imports.
-
I'm sorry, but that is exactly what it is. An English player wouldn't receive this sort of accusation, so it is therefore inherently because he is foreign.
