think he might even struggle to get on the bench. it seems pool are close to signing both balotelli and eto'o. that would make RL 4th choice behind sturridge and the two new potential signings. dream over by January?

no questions about the boruc situation then?
-
herrera started against swansea. shaw is currently their only specialist left back, if i'm not wrong, so not a player they didn't really need. think the problem is not the players they have signed but rather they are unable to attract anyone when its obvious they need more quality players in

it wasn't a clear cut sitter though was it, he had to slightly nudge Johnson off and then focus on getting his head on the ball in that split second. I would suggest you give the player at least half a season before making your judgement

looked good today, maybe even equal to shaw of last season. definitely not 'championship standard' or 'rubbish' as some have mentioned on this thread.

so so unlucky that they won it with their only chance in the second half. one player that stood out immediately was definitely tadic, looks class! loved how he mugged lovren for the assist. clyne was excellent going forward but I'm really worried about him defensively, constantly loses his man and was similar last season. hope today's performance shuts some of the bed wetters up, little to no chance of relegation if we play like this every week

thank you for confirming this, I thought I had imagine Boruc making that comment about the lack of genuine competition. Would have thought he would relish the challenge..

more interested in the Boruc story. no quotes from the man himself, or is the journalist just inferring from social media? or worse still, Irene from on here?

Guardian Premier League 2014-15 preview No14: Southampton
max_saints replied to Toon Saint's topic in The Saints
unfortunately Jordan turnbull (on loan) and Sam Stephens (who?) are unlikely to be involved this season. but other than that, agree with the article that fears of a relegation battle are misplaced. we'll finish around 10-15th -
exactly this. if we had lost 4 on a trot, this thread would be seeing twice the amount of activity and suddenly the friendlies are no longer 'meaningless'

what about the wages? do we continue paying osvaldo's wages while Inter covers Taider's? -
what did they expect the reaction was going to be to chambers sale? I want to support the board but they come across so incompetent at times. and to release such a strong statement of not selling jay and morgs when one has rejected a new contract while the other is adamant to move... this statement should have been issued earlier in the window, not after half the team has been sold! now you get those who didn't make the jump displaying their discontent, and even if we keep them this window it's a matter of formality that they'll be gone in jan. how good of a core is that! this window was salvageable right until the point when chambers was sold...
-
we give a platform for these players to shine and get the attention of national team managers, yet the moment they get there they immediately have eyes on the next target, sh1tting all over the club in the process. modern football... sigh

last week I genuinely believed we would be able to attract Rojo but after recent developments, I'm afraid we might have to dial down our expectations. that kolo guy would be more realistic..

does this apply to schneiderlin then?

very disappointed about this transfer, more so than Lovren leaving. I feel its a strange decision by both club and player. Fully believed Chambers was going to step up another level this season with us but now he's gone to keep Jenkinson company on the bench. Strange decision because, we could have gotten much more money selling at the end of the coming season and Chambers will being going to stall his development over at Arsenal. Why the rush to leave/sell?? The normal me would stay calm and wait for the replacements, but now I am seriously wondering how we are going to get at least 5 incoming in 5 weeks. Thats not including the fact that they wont have much of a preseason with the rest of the team which means we're going to have to spend the first month or so of the season integrating them into the team.
-
there's a way of doing the above, selling them all in one transfer window is NOT the way to do it
-
come on... is the board f*cking with us? I've always been on the calm and patient side but this is really testing my limits. the other outgoings I can understand but this one?? chambers has so much more to offer this season and he could have developed so much more with us. he's still young, what's the rush in going to play back up to debuchy?? I understand all that's said about big clubs and players not being able to resist their approaches but come on, there has to be an end to this silliness. if the top 4 clubs were to split our players equally among themselves, are we to just grin and accept it?! this is just disappointing. but... it seems like just rumours for now, I wouldn't hold too much hope judging by past weeks though ):

With reference to Guan's latest post, I predict the following: Incoming: Forster (gk) De Vrij (cb) Ings (Fw) Rojo (lb) with van dijk dependent on how capable Rojo is at covering for Cb Outgoing: Lovren 20m I will be one happy saints fan if the above happens before the shut of the window.
