I knew Steve well and went to school with him at Prices in Fareham, he lived next door to a great mate of mine in Warsash. He won the Young Player of the Year award one year I think, possibly the same year Keegan was Player of the Year. It's no coincidence to me that the best penalty takers are the likes of Beattie, Le Tiss and Ricky Lambert. They know what they are going to do, they take a proper run up, none of the stuttering, stopping crap. I've never understood how anyone can strike a ball cleanly if you stop/pause mid run up.

I think it's all to do with the influence of the past couple of weeks and certain times in history being removed/forgotten.
