  1. Why waste any more money, Let Selles have a chance.
  2. Why isn’t the club considering James Beattie? Out of work, has more experience than Selles, especially in English football. He knows the club inside out and would surely be a hit with the fans. Time to give him a call perhaps?
  3. The academy structure needs a good overhaul I would imagine. Too many players who will never make it on the books, and this ultimately leads to the bottlenecks and players not making it. Probably needs to go back to being a focussed elite level structure where only the best get in (or the best of those not at Chelsea) and if they aren't good enough, they don't move up the levels, and they certainly wouldn't get pro contracts. I doubt whether Crocker was allowed to make much of a difference on his second time at the club, it is all too established and cosy for those at the top of it, and who run the academy.
  4. This week saw good news but also, rubbish news about Unity Brewing Company closing its doors. Brilliant beer, best pre-match drinks near St. Mary’s by a country mile, and will be a big loss to the match day ‘experience’ and city. Thanks for the good times Jimmy and crew.
  5. Mad that we had an awful last year with Ralph in charge and people still think he was hard done by. He was done. We were sliding before Jones took over and he turned out to be the wrong person at the wrong time to take over at the wrong club. We are adrift and to stay up, we will need an incredible manager. Perhaps the players will also step up because they might not want relegation on their CVs.
  6. Second best in Europe I heard
  7. I feel sorry for him because he should never have been given the job in the first place. By not assessing properly, the club put Jones through a shit period for him and us. They fucked up. They should own the mess. A point someone of high calibre if they can.
  8. But Semmens chose this company because it kept him in the job, and he will have benefitted from them being the chosen group. Whatever happens, the leadership has been taking us closer to relegation for years, and it looks like we’ve ridden our luck out.
  9. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to stop worrying and love the bomb
  10. Bless you. Bet you’ve never called the referee a wanker either.
  11. Essentially I’m belittling them, and calling them some childish and very rude words, because I’m not hero worshiping a couple of very well rewarded individuals who think the sun shines from them. They are nowhere near as good as they think they are. They don’t even need to try and be public heroes, just quietly and effectively do their jobs. Sorry if you think i’m being out of order. I’m really quite nice in person, but I really hate the way these people treat us as fans, and this football club as if they’re the only people who could run it.
  12. Not a chance in hell that fans who ask hard questions will be anywhere near this. And if they are, it will be a major shock as Martin Semmens is a marketing and PR person first and foremost. It’ll be under arm sponge ball questions all round.
  13. So, whilst Jones is very possibly out of his depth at this level, at this point in time, why are we letting off the people at the top who have ultimately got us where we are today!
  14. Seems like these two might have fucked it up royally. It really ain’t looking great right now. Even though these two say things will be okay if we go down, that’s really not reality. We will be fucked. They think the ball will be in their court but there’s no way decent players will stay, and anyone who has even the remotest understanding of football and how it works will know that deep down. The brilliant plan is failing upon engagement with reality. Great.
  15. In the past or in the future, Bednarek will never be good moving forward.
  16. No chance he gets that sort of time to fuck up and recover in the Premier League 🤣
  17. Quicker Sam Edozie He’s just a quicker Sam Edozie quicker Sam Edozie just a quicker Sam Edozie
  18. If nothing happens, then it’s because they left it too late to do anything. Just like the summer window. Both of these stains will be on Wankerson and Semen.
  19. It certainly does seem like it
  20. Is there a position worse than 20th in a 20 team league? The position we are in is as bad as it gets. That doesn’t mean to say we can’t reach 17th place but it’s pretty bad at the moment. We could have stayed up in 2005 with one more win but we were chasing for much of the season, which made it harder because it wasn’t in our control and as the other teams kept getting points, the more we had to get. Kind of like the position we find ourselves in today. Saying we could’ve stayed up in May if we’d just won one more game doesn’t really matter if we lose our place in the top flight.
  21. Obvious cunt is obvious
  22. If the pathway doesn’t exist for our own, then there’s no point in young players coming through the academy or staying that long. The players will see this and know they need to leave to play. As you rightly point out, the club is not scoring goals but the my might be happy to sign a player for £25m who looks okay at best. Not great, and another example of Semmens and Co cocking it up over the period they’ve been here, and now. That won’t change.
  23. True and I think perhaps it’s not as important for British players and there isn’t much difference between locations. I wonder if it different for international players, who have grown up with more importance on food, closer communities and the like. Having more social opportunities with likeminded people, or who speak the language will probably help make them feel more comfortable with a place.
  24. I appreciate what you are saying but I do happen to believe that broader lifestyle has a role to play in decision, and these football robots also have families too. A location is not the only reason but it is bound to be a factor. I appreciate that money will be the biggest driver and they can go anywhere they want but I think it is more nuanced. And I know, I know, we don’t do nuance when judging player decisions. What location does impact is how many wealthier people live in the place, having better and richer companies based there who might help corporate sales, sponsorship revenue etc. This won’t be as much as a betting company but it will be a marginal gain that everyone gets so excited about. Then that club can pay a little extra to a player, or just have better coaches, other staff who support the players etc. Who knows if I’m right. Who knows if any of us is right. What we all know is that we don’t score enough goals and let in too many, and hope that a goal scorer couldn’t give a shit whether he’s in St. Tropez or St. Mary’s 😎
  25. Brighton has a distinct advantage over Southampton when it comes to attracting players in that it’s a cool place to live and has more to offer than Southampton as a result, whether that’s food, shopping, more events, more sophisticated bars, general lifestyle, famous residents etc. if you’re young and choosing between Saints and Brighton, it’s an easy choice to make, and if they’ve got better coaches who get the best out of them, even more so.
