So one is going to help run the shop properly, review hospitality, and vet the work of multiple commercial directors and heads of departments who don’t do much of anything. The other is someone who won’t be able to make much difference if he isn’t given the opportunity to bring in better coaches etc. and it’s a longer term project anyway. Certainly not exciting. Might be better than what we had, certainly on the commercial side, but if we don’t stay up, they’ll all be out if a job because the money won’t be there any more. Rearranging the deckchairs whilst the ship is sinking vibes. Success in football is based on 11 players beating 11 other players regularly enough, and doing so in a way that is entertaining/successful enough for fans to pay to watch, for sponsors to want to be associated with it, and media companies to want you on their channels. Everything else is window dressing. We need a CF at the very least.

Probably won’t sign: a new GK, a DM and a CF Probably will sign: a RB, a W Really need: a DM and CF. Still.

That’s me, had to go and pick up some cheese and wine from my basement in my Sète party house.

Thought the Brexit fuck up was supposed to make everything better…that’s going well 🤣 Can’t believe it’s reached having to have a WP to sign a Dane. Regardless, getting someone stronger than Diallo would be a benefit.

Having seen the highlight footage, he looks raw. The stats above are difficult to ascertain by watching what is available. Where’s a Villarreal fan when you need one?

I agree. 36 points should do it according to the premier league average. So 7 wins, or a combination of wins and draws to reach the total. Starting with Villa, there 8 matches against teams in the bottom half by the time we play Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool.
-
Like it. But that puts on the sort of form that teams have to qualify for playing in Europe. Much to be done, but positive signs. Next match against a form team will be a good signifier of progress.
-
I agree. His awareness of other players around him is very good. This new position suits him though as tackling and driving forward with the ball from the defensive third to the final third is not as big a requirement, and they are his weakest areas.

JWP has been reborn. He also seems to love Jones. He was the player that pushed Jones out towards the fans yesterday to get some cheers. Happy players play better. Funny that.
-
Today was excellent. Players are clearly with him. We also played pretty well and kept pushing. It has been awhile since that was the case. Forest was a shocker, but today was a team getting much better. Still need a couple more players mind. I wasn’t sure, had my doubts, but after the game I was more than happy to cheer him enthusiastically when he came over to us.

So kind of like good chance or half chance? Thanks for the explanation highlighting the over complication of something really quite straightforward. For me, football is art, not maths.
-
Football people once called it chances created.

Other than the win, and the way we played, the biggest and most significant thing for me was the way the players were with him after the game. It absolutely looks like he has them on his side and that is no bad thing at all. If they’re all together fighting and believing in each other, that’s powerful.

Saints 2-0 Man City - The Treble is STILL on!

Was about to say we are playing well. COYR! -
The cheap suitcase won’t last. The preened and soft academy raised lads will have him on Louis Vuitton gear and tacky Dubai holidays before you know it. Even the kit man carries a posing wash bag when on away trips 🤣

Reminds me of older folk saying World Cup Willie when you took a shot from outside the are. Willie? Exsqueeze me?

Whatever it is, I just want it to be brave 🤣

Bobby Moore was a 6 so how far back are we going? 4-4-2, jumpers for goalposts, happy days 😊
-
Is he a centre back? 6, one for the old school there when 6 played alongside 5, with 4 and 8 in front.
-
Nope. For the record, I want Jones to succeed as he’s our manager so no bias at all. I was actually at the match and could see a change in the players approach. If it was down to the players, or Jones, at least after the break, then it was better and hopefully that’s a sign of improvement. 👍🏼

To me, the players looked like they changed the style of football they were playing after the fans chants of ‘Nathan Jones, your football is shit’. Definitely less aimless balls pumped forward. Maybe there were strong words at halftime from the players. It’s rubbish for them to hear chants like that when it’s what they’ve been asked to do. As it’s unlikely the board will get rid of Jones, hopefully he will be a quick learner and realise the players we have aren’t suitable for long ball football (clearly we fans hate it because aimless long ball football bypassing the midfield is totally shit) and adapt. There were signs today of some fight in the players and JWP in particular was more vocal than I’ve ever seen him. Maybe we will be able to drop the chants about an opposition being shit because we are beating them soon.

Good player, doesn’t fit Toby Steele’s recent comments, and our general approach to buying players recently given his age, but perhaps finally, the penny has dropped that having a decent football team is deemed important.
