  1. And £6m a season was for for everything so kit and sponsors, not just the kit deal! Ralph said he club would increase the commercial revenue and if the above is true then the next deals will be even more...we march on to use the mantra!
  2. I actually knew al of those apart from the trains sponsoring ...you da man
  3. Hmmm, how can this be explained to someone who has to ask this question? Go have a think about it, maybe read a little about addiction then you can come to the conclusion yourself. Kind of similar to alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, sugary drinks etc. They are individual choices for people to make but they aren't necesserily good for you so promotion of them might be seen as being less morally aware. Perhaps that will help you understand what a moral stance might mean. If the club go with a betting sponsor, then so be it but let's not pretend what betting can cause is good for some people.
  4. Ok thanks, and my response about Coke was that they wouldn't do it to a suggestion on the previous post. I wouldn't want coke on the shirt either, apart from the fact that it would be a rock star's favourite shirt pretty quickly
  5. Sorry superhero, where did I say that? I can't see it! Probably because it doesn't say it. Go read it again.
  6. Be interesting to see what the facts are about the Under Armour deal when they're properly announced. As for sponsors, Coca Cola sponsor massive events only so not going to be them. Virgin probably wouldn't sponsor a football club either. It'll probably be someone no-one has heard of who need to let people know what they do. Can't imagine a club that often positions itself with a moral stance would go down the route of betting unless the money is spectacular of course!
  7. Like others I'd be surprised if we beat Everton on their patch.
  8. It's a possibility for us to become a force still as the bigger teams focus on buying big names, not necessarily building great teams. We need to keep hold of pretty much everyone this close season to send the message that we are back in the game of building, not having to rebuild, and then if possible sign an experienced winner to lead the team (even if Fonte still remains as captain) and some exciting talent to send another message that we are very serious about building for the future as well as for challenging now. Whatever happens, with the improved money this close season, we have another opportunity to keep going in the right direction.
  9. If he was playing well and doing what Ronald wanted him to do he'd be playing. We don't have the resources to just drop a player who is good enough for the first team for no particular reason. It is surely that simple. He must not have improved and those who watch him regularly seem to think he hasn't looked that good this season.
  10. Bertrand is right, hopefully the next step involves him, the best of our players plus a couple more in the summer. Ultimately we need players who want to make Southampton FC as good as it can be with them in the team leading it, no showcase players, just players who like the look of the fairytale of Leicester and want to create a piece of that here.
  11. 7th would be a good achievement from a season where we have been so up and down.
  12. I would have thought much would depend on how we grow this close season for Koeman to commit for longer. Money is up from the TV deal, commercial income will be up and hopefully that means there will be the investment needed to keep the talent on the pitch and grow the first team squad and academy.
  13. Not likely to happen as a shirt sponsor is additional money. As for the size of the new kit deal, we were making our own shirts a season ago so a £50m shirt deal for us might be a little bit ambitious.
  14. I'd d be surprised to see Pelle here next year but not Fonte who I think will stay for a year longer at least. He could still retire at Sporting Lisbon if he wanted after another season although saying that, Lisbon is a very cool place and he'd have a brilliant lifestyle with his family there! It'll be interesting to see if Wanyama and Mane do end up going as well. Like many before it, it is a big summer that will impact the future of the club and most importantly the way we are perceived outside of the SO bubble. We should in theory be better off than the previous two close seasons and actually add further to the squad and not lose players we aren't happy to let leave.
  15. This was Friday night football back in the old days:
  16. Under Armour are definitely ambitious, and you can tell by who they sponsor in the US and who they manufacture kits for (not just in our football) that they're a company on the up. Just like Nike years ago, they weren't a football 'brand' and look at them now!
  17. Seems to be a lot of thoughts about a betting company being the next sponsor for some reason. Are many betting companies left who don't sponsor already? Guess there could be some in countries we just don't know about.
  18. It was good when Barca had the UNICEF logo to break their tradition of not having a shirt sponsor.
  19. If it's a betting company they should at least pay more than the going rate. It's a bit difficult to judge how much though and I would guess we'd get a similar amount to Swansea and the like. The big boys are way ahead with how much money they get from sponsorship deals as they get more media coverage and have big companies in their manor (London). The next deal you'd hope would be bigger if we can carry on at the top end of the game.
  20. Intriguing, a new five year plan with some long term stuff that will surely start to reveal itself this summer in the transfer window, and youth signings
  21. No it couldn't be a good coach could it. Barry fry, old school and real it is then.
  22. 'Who do you want if Ronald leaves? Or 'who would you want if Ronald were to leave/was to leave?' The first question suggests he might be going, the second is speculation in case he leaves. So maybe the original poster knows something we don't...
  23. And this post started why? Is Ronald leaving?
  24. To move on, we probably need a CB, an AM and another fast attacking player particularly if Mane does indeed go as many expect. Whatever happens, we need to finish the season strongly then add quality players who are hungry or who have proven they have the desire. Like the old times, we could probably do with drafting in a player who knows how to win a big title or two, and be a voice in the changing room.
