I have already made 1 observation, which didn't seem to elicit a response. Starting his argument with what appears to be an incorrect assertion hardly sells the rest of the interview to me. And fwiw I have downloaded the IPCC report.

Where, other than the words of Koonin, is the evidence he IS correct ?

If your "perfectly decent car" is petrol engined and less than 18 years old it should be fine as it is EU4 compliant, so no worries.

He distorts things to suit his narrative. Early on he says that human activity is responsible for 1% of the heat energy in the atmosphere. Whilst this may be true, and the IPCC report does not have anything to say on this figure, it is disingenuous. The bulk of the heat energy in the atmosphere comes from the sun - without it the Earth would be a frozen inert block, and this energy keeps the temperature at a range suitable for life - currently at about 288 Kelvin average by his reckoning, ( 288 degrees above absolute zero - although he does seem to get his numbers confused as he actually says that the average temperature is about 300K ( 27C ) ). His 1% claim seems to be based on increasing this 288K, or 15 degrees Celcius average, by a small percentage, perhaps to 291K. Measured in Kelvin this seems to be insignificant, but this actually increases things by more than the 1.5 degrees the IPCC sets as a threshhold. What the IPCC report does state is "Human activities, principally through emissions of greenhouse gases, have unequivocally caused global warming, "

We'd struggle to match his goal tally though.

Also, where is the line ? Convicted of 2 murders? Of 3 ? Does the age of the victim affect whether it is a capital crime ? Some would like the death penalty returned for terrorists or killers of Policemen, but it never served as a deterrent in the first half of the last century. And there is always the risk, however slight, of a miscarriage of Justice. Imagine if we had had the death penalty in the 70s with the Guildford and Woolwich pub bombings.

It was not a pointless post - what purpose are impact statements and Judge's remarks serving if the subject of them couldn't give a toss, or even views it as another chapter in their power trip ?

I know that is what the blurb states, but many EU5 diesels show as compliant on the TfL compliance checker.

In theory almost all cars registered since September 2011 are ULEZ compliant, or at least they were when built. How well they have been maintained is another issue.......

Perhaps another forum will make an offer for him.
