It's just one of those phrases that annoys me, along with 'losing points from a winning position. You start the game with a certain number of points; if you lose you have the same number, if you draw you gain 1, if you win you gain 3. The only time you actually have posession of the points is at the final whistle.

We always were. Across a season this squad rates between 7th to 12th. Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, and probably Everton are better sides than Saints and will finish above us. The "deal" falls short of what we were promised, is padded out with caveats and areas yet to be agreed, contains almost nothing to address financial services, and the fishing industry says it is a sell-out.

As I said earlier on the thread, rolling over trade deals to maintain existing arrangements is hardly exhibiting advanced negotiating skills - my 6 year old grand son could do it.

I hope Wes doesn't read that thread, he thinks we held firm on our "red lines" and at the last minute the EU "buckled" and "gave us more or less what we wanted". Of course if he does read it, it will turn out to be complete bollocks, at least in his eyes.

Not to mention the remains of the UK losing the 80% of total landings that are made in Scottish ports, from the 60% of UK waters that are Scottish. If, somehow, Scotland gains indepence and then votes to join the EU, having considered all the arguments, then I would expect such a keen supporter of the Democratic Mandate as yourself to fully support their decision, and wish them well of it.

Can you not understand that that comment was being posed in a hypothtical future; at the time of the next election campaign it may be that Brexit has turned out to be a turd. Funny how you didn't try to transposition the first scenario, that Brexit might be turning out to be successful, into the present.

Westie, these 2 statements are both true.

At the run up to the next election it will be the Tories either (a) crowing about how successful Brexit seems to be turning out to be, or (b) trying to find a way to polish the turd that Brexit is turning out to be, and desperately distancing themselves from parts of the deal that have proved deeply unpopular.

When it is allowed again, why don't you go and stand outside a local church at Easter and explain your "truth" to the congregation as they arrive ?
