I think both sides are hoping that there will be a last minute arrangement that finesses this problem. I don't know if either has a clear view of what that might be, but in some way that particular can will be hoofed along the highway so that nobody has to take the 'blame'. Yes, it is quite simple; the EU is made up of at least 3 countries that we beat in WW2, and several others that we helped liberate. The ingrates should back down and give us what we deserve.
