  1. 4 names from the Menin Gate at Ypres : Muhammad Aslam, Abdullah Khan, Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Usman. Surely they are as deserving of remembrance as any other casualty ?
  2. Not that I'm a commie, but I actually do believe some things the Daily Heil prints. For instance on today's front page it clearly states that today is Friday 12th November 2010, with which I wholeheartedly concur.
  3. But that in itself is slightly disingenuous reporting, because they have grouped all the variations of Mohammed together, yet kept Charlie & Charles separate, which would together put them third. Similarly, Jacob & Jake when combined come 4th. Nothing like a little bit of twisting statistics to prove a point.
  4. I am fairly certain that all paedophiles were themselves at some point children, so maybe this is just some very advanced thinking.
  5. Isn't that why we have local elections every four or five years ? Councillors are completely accountable to their constituents, and if you don't approve you should exercise your mandate.
  6. Christianity is 2000 years old, Islam is about 1300 years old. Where was Christianity in 1300 ? Maybe there is a set timetable in religious evolution, and everybody will ultimately end up where the Hindus are.

  8. That would be crusades, slavery, and empire building then ?
  9. In what way ? They are both examples of very poor judgement being exhibited by our elected representatives, and both are offensive. Just because one of them might agree with parts of your own personal prejudice, whilst the other might be reinforcing your stereotypical views of Labour MPs, doesn't make either acceptable.
  10. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?26404-Tory-arrested-for-twitter-comment From the comments on that thread, it seems to be acceptable for a Tory to ask for somebody to be stoned to death via Twitter, as the law is judged to be too harsh and it was just 'a bit of fun'.
  11. ..before you tear me all apart You'd better stop before you go and break my heart Ooh you'd better stop
  12. You have gone up in my estimation.
  13. £21k pa qualifies as 'high' wages ?
  14. I suspect that LibDem voters voted with the understanding their party would never have actually got into power.
  15. verbal
  16. Drop and roll.
  17. But there wasn't an option for a ConDem coalition, and I suspect that the vast majority of LibDem voters voted AGAINST the Conservatives as much as against the Brown regime.
  18. With regard to student loans, tuition fees, etc; How many on here with degrees obtained them, like me, before loans & fees were introduced, and therefore were subsidised by the tax payer without having to pay anything back ? One thing above all else that p!sses me off in this debate is MPs, of any hue, journos, and other talking heads, who benefitted from the 'old way' of funding FE/HE and now spout out that graduates must pay their way because it is 'unfair' on the taxpayer.
  19. With regard to yesterday's student march - I wonder if the low level of Police presence was a 'protest' of sorts by the Met, indicating the numbers that would be available post CSR.
  20. From the Daily Heil "The Tories won a handsome 40 per cent of the vote in England Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/election/article-1274795/UK-ELECTION-RESULTS-2010-So-didnt-Tories-reach-summit.html#ixzz14xdwzR6s" So the majority in England did not want the Tories.
  21. Which civil war was that ? Stephen & Matilda ? The War of the Roses ? Either of the Parliament vs Charles I conflicts ? The Monmouth rebellion ? The barons' wars against King John and Henry III ? Or the Glorious Revolution ?
  22. And what we have at the moment is a Tory led program of exactly this, enabled by a LibDem party that has sold out on every principle they ever held and every manifesto promise they presented at the last election.
  23. The question is over the speed, depth, and targetting of the cuts. The program is far too dogmatic, there is no need to deal as severely or as brutally as Georgie Boy and the "Ginger Rat", ( @ reproduced by kind permission of Harriet Harman ), are doing. Why not take 2 years longer ? There is absolutely nothing that dictates the timetable other than the date of the next election.
  24. But is seems that for some on here the only way to counter a point of view is too blithely rebut it as 'claptrap'. It really does get the alternative perspective across clearly.
