  1. Koeman did his interview on signing Mané in broad daylight!
  2. Forster Clyne Alderweireld Fonte Bertrand Wanyama Schneiderlin Tadic Mané Pellè Rodriguez Boruc, Gardos, Targett, Cork, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Long Likes of Reed, Yoshida, Isgrove and Gallagher around the squad as well. That is a strong, deep and versatile group. It would take two or three big flops from these signings for us not to finish top half again.
  3. And Boruc is still here by the looks of it! Squad is strong
  4. I absolutely loved Jos Hooiveld from his first few games in the shirt. I'll miss him but I hope he smashes it at Norwich.
  5. We'll miss the feeling of 'hey, at least Gaston's on the bench' more than we'll miss his actual contributions on the pitch. Wasn't going to get a game and hey, if Hull give him a regular run in their side that's more than Pochettino ever gave him. Might come back stronger.
  6. Andy Robertson, Abel Hernandez, Jake Livermore permanently, Mo Diame, Tom Ince, Michael Dawson. Snodgrass was overpriced but not a bad player to have. Those are solid Premier League signings that give them a foundation to go forward on. And they got £12m for Shane Long...
  7. If we get Mane over the line I think we could probably cope with losing Ramirez. Only worth it if the money's good though They're a better team than we were when he signed for us
  8. Hull are doing some cracking business this window, but for the money we'd probably charge I don't think Ramirez would be a great buy. Ben Arfa is the better of the two if you want no consistency with flashes of brilliance.
  9. It is still far too early to tell how strong we are, but I'm delighted with the depth we've added. Nobody really knew how good Lovren, Wanyama or Osvaldo would be when we signed them, and the same applies to our new signings. Could all be stars, could be some flops, though I think we're all fairly confident that Forster and Tadic will be good players for us. I certainly think we've given ourselves a good chance though.
  10. Lorient centre half Bruno Manga has signed for Cardiff. We were linked with him briefly and the stories mentioned he was being chased by bigger clubs...odd one.
  11. If Wanyama does want out, then respect to him for getting his head down, playing well and keeping that business quiet.
  12. Spurs to offer Andros Townsend plus £14m for Jay Rodriguez
  13. He was really good at football, so yeah. Shame it ended like it did
  14. Edit: wrong thread
  15. But those aren't the deals they've needed to get done. Good as those three are, it's been another miserable window for them. It's oversimplifying to say they failed to get players like Kroos, Fabregas and Hummels just because they didn't pay the premium and get on with it, but that naivety certainly helped.
  16. I don't think £27m for Schneiderlin is any less 'obscene' than the prices we got for Shaw and Lallana. I know nobody's made that bid but the club have said he's not going for any money. Over the last few weeks we've discussed all sorts of potential reasons why the club dug their heels in over Schneiderlin, including: -An unhappy Morgan would not kick up as much fuss as an unhappy Lallana or Lovren -Morgan is more important/less replaceable in the team than those who departed -Krueger said that one or two unhappy players is manageable but five or six isn't - it might just be that enough had already left for us to manage the remaining grumblers, including Schneiderlin -The club pulled the plug when they realised the extent of the fan backlash and the harm it would do Money offered isn't one of them, unless the club knew there was no chance whatsoever of anyone offering £27m so they felt safe in saying he wasn't going for any money.
  17. Yeah, I really think he found his level winning everything there is in three different countries and taking Holland to third place in the World Cup
  18. Because Louis Van Gaal is demonstrably one of the best managers in the world. If you're going to try and judge him on four games at United then it's worth considering that Southampton don't suffer from the dysfunctional structure and hideous transfer approach that Man Utd do at the moment. A poster above makes a fair point about us not having the players to fit his system, but we all know that United tried and failed to get the right players, just as they have for the last four or five years. We wouldn't have the same problems getting players in because we are - by the looks of things - willing to accept slightly inflated prices to get deals done.
  19. He must fancy someone who's after him then. It would be a shame if Newcastle got him over us Does anyone know if Van Dijk can do a job at right back?
  20. You don't think you'll bother watching Match of the Day ever again?
  21. Erm, yes. I would swap Koeman for Van Gaal.
  22. Good interview. He'll get his move eventually but you can see there he's a professional who really cares about his game
  23. 4-1 at home to Villa under Adkins was one
