  1. Come off what? I'm not denying our kids' kit looks like Brentford's. But so what? I've no idea what point you are trying to make. Is it really that we shouldn't have the same sponsor as any other club who play in red and white stripes who are below us in the league? That seems a very odd position to take. The club isn't in good enough financial position to be turning any money down and I'm sure the majority of our fans couldn't give a french-fried titty f'k if our kids kit looks like Brentford's kit.
  2. Why? Utilita pay money to put their name there. I don't think we are in the financial position to turn down money just to have a sponsorless kids shirt.
  3. Cobham, not Chobham.
  4. You've actually managed to contradict yourself with your own argument. What you say is 100% true. For Newcastle. They play in uniform sized stripes every single season so there can be no innovation. We play in red and white every season but not necessarily in stripes so there can, and has, been innovation. Since I have started supporting the club we have had lots of home kits that haven't been uniform stripes: late 70s 'candy bar' kit Xerox kit All red centenary kit Denmark kit White shirt with red sash Red shirt, white sleeves Cortese kit All Red Cortese kit Xerox re-boot Red shirt with white sash As well as shirts with different width stripes (early 2000s) I've no idea why you think we are a club that always plays in stripes and so can have no innovation.
  5. I started supporting Saints in the late 70s/early 80s. I wouldn't call the 'candy bar' Channon era kit traditional stripes and from 1980 on we had the Xerox kit, the all red centenary shirt and then the Denmark shirt. So it was 1989, about 12 years after I started to support the club that it had the first striped kit I had seen so I must confess striped kits had little to do with me choosing to support Southampton....
  6. Ugh. Hideous. The return of the deckchairs. Have Stoke, Sunderland and Sheff Utd not taught us that red and white stripes is the kit of certain relegation? Hopefully we can have a Denmark retro kit next season for our promotion campaign.
  7. It's a UEFA rule for Euro competitions. Of no relevance to us whatsoever!
  8. Is that a euphemism?
  9. We did. He lasted about 12 seconds.
  10. Will Matty be wearing his tin foil hat?
  11. Think there's been an issue between RB and RH from early days. There were a couple of times when he was injured, returned back to training but was still left out by RH for unspecified reasons for a number of games.
  12. It was when he was 14 wasn't it?
  13. Yep, and the rest. Peak MLT twitter was him alluding to the fact that the PM of Tanzania didn't die of COVID, he was murdered on the orders of Bill Gates.... You don't get that sort of insightful analysis from Alex Scott tbf.
  14. Actually in MLT's case it very much does.
  15. Of course not. Danny Ings is now playing the Shane Long 'run around and never score' role just fine.
  16. Yep, she sorted out that financial mess from where we turned a profit in the PL under Cortese and the years immediately after he left to the amazing situation now where we are losing £75m a year and having to take out huge loans at exorbitant interest rates just to pay the bills. In Kat we trust....
  17. Positive talks and every indication he will sign.
  18. He should be offered the most lucrative contract the club can afford but if he doesn't sign by the Summer the club will have to put him up for sale. They can't afford to let him walk away for nothing at the end of next season.
  19. Any news on Lionel Berkamp?
  20. 2003. Higginbotham and Prutton. #themwerethedays
  21. Given he's been with us since 2016, how long a chance do you think he should be given? Might as well extend him for another 4 years at £70k per week just to take a punt?
  22. 1.5m + his £50k+ per week wages? Well he's managed 3 PL goals since he joined in 2016 so the question should really be 'who could do worse'?
  23. Djenepo has managed 2 PL goals and we only signed him last year. Boufal was signed in 2016 and has only manged 3.... Boufal has been a colossal waste of money. £12m in transfer fee and another £10m in wages all for the grand total of 3 PL goals. Sims is by no means a world beater and is very probably not PL level but does anyone think if he was given the games that Boufal has he could have done worse than 3 PL goals (and for a fraction of the cost).
  24. What exactly is that option? A player with zero defensive ability so you wouldn't bring him on if winning a game and a player who, statistically, has an all but zero % chance of scoring a goal or providing an assist. You could could put me on the bench and get both of those....
  25. LD has nothing to do with Chairman Gao. For a start he doesn't have any money of his own, he had to take personal loans to buy the club in the first place and he could always put in the amounts LD was meant to be and still be well within FFP rules. The only plausible explanation for the whole sorry saga is that this was a form of Chinese government funding given as a type of oversees investment grant. It was given last year, but due to the worsening relations between their government and ours was stopped for this year. As LD Sports is not an actual company there was no contract hence why the club has nothing it can do in legal terms. What a mess. No doubt this has cost the club millions.
