  1. This is now the most interesting and important thread here I reckon. obviously we all think jones should go and by Monday could well be - but that obviously leaves the question of who? we are not an appealing proposition atm - some good names on the list above but why would you come? Likely we would offer a contract until the end of the season with a huge bonus if they keep us up, which I think is what we did with Hughes. With Hughes we then made the mistake of extending his contract but it is a tricky situation where if they do keep us up other clubs may want them and thus we lose out on someone good or we may feel we should stick with them without taking a long term view and be back to square one when their managerial style turns out to be suitable for nothing other than finishing 17th. This is the tricky side of sacking Jones - not whether he should go or not, but what do we actually do instead of him? I would say this is the guiding reason behind why he hasn't got the sack - I can't believe clubs just sack someone without having at least informal conversations with other candidates first. It COULD be interesting to see, given SRs willingness to spend money, whether we can attract a higher profile manager for a short period than previously through pure financial means.

largely unrelated but I think Martin Semmens and Ashley Giles were separated at birth
  4. I guess it makes sense from the simplistic point of view of getting all of your best players on the pitch together - ABK, DCC and Salisu definitely being 3 of our better performers in exchange for one of our less purposeful "attacking" midfielders. But yeah - it has never worked, it's never looked threatening, it's never helped in any way.
  5. I know we're dead last but isn't it nice to not be absolutely skint anymore? If we were in this position in any of the previous seasons pre-takeover we would have had to sell JWP to panic buy or more likely do nothing at all.
  6. I wondered if they might loan him somewhere with an agreed fee and a clause for if we come back up in one season. Agree he won’t be playing in the championship and nor should he.
  7. I thought he was very isolated.
  8. I think Alcaraz and JWP should swap. I know getting JWP closer to goal has been the plan recently but we’re desperate for composure coming out from the back and Alcarazzamatazz looks more attack minded.
  9. Good question - I’d probably run a raffle from the light show wristbands and let ten lucky fans try their best.
  10. I'd really like to see something like this: New Signing New Signing - New Signing - New Signing - New Signing New Signing - JWP New Signing - New Signing - New Signing New Signing
  11. Good chance for him to Begin Again.
  12. “We are looking forward to getting started together." It's this kind of cut-through, real talk that really inspires the fans.
  13. I didn't understand any of this interaction at all, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
  14. Is a french press a reliable source?
  15. I know that a piece of the hamstring is the most common type of graft used in an ACL reconstruction so it can cause hamstring issues, though I think Tino’s issue with his other leg. Would be strange to take a graft out of the other leg I think. I had my ACL done with a patella tendon graft that the surgeon said had a longer recovery but better long term prospects and it’s never given me a moments grief, coming up to 11 years. As for over compensation I found the opposite to be true - my uninjured leg got much stronger after being on crutches etc and because of the muscle loss my reconstructed leg was more injury prone. Obviously my slapshod rehab a decade ago wasn’t on par with a premier league footballer though. Just as likely he just went too hard in training I’d say.
  16. A guy on a train told me you can also download a program called "Calibre" which makes any downloadable ebook format compatible with Kindle and makes it easy to upload it too. He said it was a very easy to use and reliable program. He said to google "calibre kindle" but I didn't independently verify this for fear of lingering Y2K virus particles.
  17. get both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. this was immense. thank you.
  19. Good way to celebrate the war ending I guess
  20. Wow - so obvious!! - just play it on repeat for 90 minutes! Nice pickup.
  21. I was thinking "Me and Mrs/Nathan Jones"
  22. In one of these articles it says this: " The world got a glimpse of Luton’s dogged determination and tremendous tenacity in their recent FA Cup bout against the European champions Chelsea. Despite falling to a late Romelu Lukaku strike, the Hatters fought tooth and nail for every ball, going toe-to-toe with the English giants and showing their quality as well as their tactical discipline." Did anyone watch this game? Was there anything in it that could offer us a tiny sliver of optimism? I get that they just lost to Stoke but every team loses - if he has the ability to get a Championship team playing well against Chelsea may be there is just something positive about him being overlooked?
  23. unrelated: not sure if i've heard this already or it came to me in a dream but i thought the song "evie" nearly works for tino: tino tino tino livramento <insert final syllable> tino livramento's back? tino livramento's ours etc etc
  24. a wet fart in an elevator is very funny imo
