CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons
nta786 replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
Because he really got himself noticed in the January transfer window no goals between 25th October 2015 and 20th March 2016... -
Funny because if we were to get Zlatan- it wouldn't be for him to play, I'd rather have him as the guy to attract other big names whilst keeping the ones in our club!!!
-
1) don't pay enough for them to stay- either we aren't willing or capable 2) they are likely to achieve cl/win trophies elsewhere Simple, unless they have an affection for us, they will leave- let's be honest. If we want them to stay, we need to do something like WHU, offer a new contract within a few months, but it works both ways- they could lose motivation. Let us not pretend we are the only club to lose players, Bony went for £30m, Benteke £32m etc
-
Nothing has happened to him, yes I hold a grudge over the way he left BUT, if it wasn't for him, I don't think we would have attracted the fees that were given to us for the 5 players- don't think Adkins would have anyways. Top quality manager- and as for the plan B- surely one can only have a plan B if he has the resources available- in the 2013/14 season lets face it- we only had a core of about 14/15 players capable of playing at a high level- plus it didn't help having Boruc out for a fair bit- the two Spurs game ring to mind that season- we lost both 3-2 didn't we? The home one hurted when we had Fox and Hooiveld

Goals. That is good football really. More you score the better.

Tottenham build up thread ...a question posed

I also just did the same http://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/final-home-game-of-the-season-vs-southampton-08-may-1330ko.17775/page-1 really hope we smash them- all of them taking our game vs them as a given win, the twa*s. -
yes we can, and as fans we should dream for it. what it will take is some luck and team spirit, oh and good players of course. however constantly chopping and changing our team is in my opinion what is holding us back- something that might not change unless we get our transfers absolutely spot on in one window and we go on to achieve some good results.

Posting cr*p like Lampard would be a good player doesn't help mate- along with other stuffy worthy of a wind up merchant- stuff I can't be bothered to dig out.
-
In all honesty, except from VVD- who has been a 10/10 buy, all our success for this season has come from the 2014 transfer buys- Long, Mane, Tadic, Ryan, Forster... I will retain my trust until we see our transfers this summer, but I am worried that this selling will slowly creep up with us. I wouldn't be surprised if we stagnate a little bit and finish 12th to 14th- which by no means is awful- given we have been spoilt in recent years. With regards to transfers this window- the summer will tell how crucial Mitchell really was- and whether our scouting department really is excellent.

poch getting involved between rose and willian spat. moussa dembele though- disgusting. looked like he poked his finger in costa's eye. surely that is a ban too.

Tottenham build up thread ...a question posed

Since coming up our record is 1 draw and 6 defeats. Awful. Though I think with Forster in goal last season we would've won that home game. All ifs and buts. -
ha! this day will never come. once they see the £££ that is it unfortunately.
-
Haha don't worry I also lost a fiver myself
-
Football isn't just about the defence though. Heck, I'd happily win 5-4 every week.
-
But now you've said that we will probably lose.
-
The thing I love about the Saints these past three years the most is that every game we go into we actually expect something. Very different to the 90s!
-
the new glasgow saint/barry sanchez/yuki/heisenburg/pluto
-
I do agree with you with regards to reaching Europe, I don't think we will do it, but, http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Southampton.html this website above gives me hope- if we win all three games then that gives us a 90% chance for top 7 and for Europe (providing United win FA Cup)
-
Look, giving a 5 year contract is potentially naive. Say, for example, this new manager we get was given a 5 year contract and was performing extremely poorly- think about how much we would have to pay to get rid of him. The same goes for players- if it was up to me, I would handle it how WHU handled Payet, giving him a new contract within 6 months of consistent performance- but then again that could mean the players lose motivation :/
-
Whilst I agree, tell me how you would have felt last season if we had bought Danny Simpson, Marc Albrighton, Robert Huth or someone else like that- 95% of us, and me too, would have been livid, claiming lack of ambition and what not. A player needs to be coached too, and big names don't guarantee success.
-
I honestly would not mind Jorge Sampaoli- I think he would be more than an adequate replacement. But then again, am I just aspiring too high?
-
Exactly. If someone said to Leicester in 2013- you can win the league but your following three seasons will be in 17th place- I think every single one of us would take it.
-
This would be true if Pellegrini was still the manager next season but, I'm sure all he cares about at the moment is the CL, not prioritising a top 4 finish.
-
All would offer wages far higher than what we are willing/capable of offering.
