  1. Will be interesting to see how Everton get on next 3-4 years. They are similar in size to us, very similar incomes each year and similar sized debts. Although it didn't go exactly to plan this summer they are making the right noises and seem very ambitious. Wonder if the can have a serious crack at breaking the top 7's hold? I don't think you should fear change. if you look at SFC like rolling a dice then our situation now, as it stands, it may only be a two or three. go for something bigger and better, yeah, we could easily roll a six!! We could also roll a one I'd rather take a gamble and have a chance at winning trophies - under the current ownership we have no hope IMHO
  2. Comment like this from players and agents before they've kicked a ball for us, show me what a soft touch we are and why all these new longterm contracts me nothing (other than more money for the owner) Boufal agent
  3. Don't get me started on England and international games. Lost interest in that years ago. Peaked when we had a few in the England team but sure enough we sold them all
  4. Alot of us were spoilt and we had a hero in MLT who stuck with us from start to finish. Under the current ownership he would have been sold after a season or two My nephew summed it up - I've been desperately trying to get him hooked on Saints (his dad is Liverpool) I buy him the kit each year and chat Saints whenever I see him. He's had lallana and Mane on his shirt past few years as I tell him they are the best players. Saints then go sell both to Liverpool!! What chance do I have He is losing interest in Southampton and didn't want a shirt this season
  5. The modern game desperately needs some modifications and referees could really benefit from technologies. Rugby, NFL, Cricket they all use technology now to verify decisions - it’s improved the game. Goal line technology has all we’ve been given past few years
  6. Let’s keep the childish insults and nonsense over here please - http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?56987-Thread-for-insulting-other-posters Adult and decent conversation on this thread right now. Ta

Funnily enough I was discussing this with a friend at weekend - Reed had a fairly poor reputation, sacked by Charlton and the FA and has somewhat redeemed himself and built a decent reputation in football past 3-4 years especially. He gets a lot of credit (media) for buying and selling players at profit and seems to have avoided any blame for Osvaldo, Ramirez, Mayuka ect ect. He has now got this reputation for finding good managers and will be difficult and a real test for him to accept he got this one wrong (if in fact he has - time will tell) I’m with you - I think he will watch the ship go down rather than man up and accept this time he picked a dud. Hopefully he has more to him? He is not particularly experienced and we need not forget that he was hired to look after the youth Academy, Scouting and Recruitment and 6 years on he’s been quickly promoted to Executive Director of the Club and one of four members on the Board. It’s all happened very quickly and accepting defeat on something like Puel might be hard Has he sacked a manager before? Assume Nigel A was Cortese
  8. **** that's sad! RIP Reminds me of an old friend (John marshall) was training with Everton and died (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy in 1995) day before he was due to sign professional forms with them. Horrible
  9. Ha nice post glad to hear you're gaining interest and I like the golf analogy I am genuinely trying to relight the fire (Take That) and a few decent performances might help with that. Looking forward to seeing boufal play TBH.
  10. Started watching NFL last year and now slightly hooked. Taken a while to understand the rules and plays and still learning but really enjoy it. Took arizona cardinals as my team and hoping for a decent season again. Found the whole draft and salary cap stuff very interesting and wonder if the BPL should be looking at how the NFL keep things fair for all Also the lack of transfers is interesting and allows fans to really get behind the players and club. I play golf (7 handicap now) and enjoy watching the odd tournament. Obviously the big ones appeal more and ryder cup later this month ?
  11. Yeah well done SFC! Also kudos to Everton chairman last night, brilliant from him > http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37341891
  12. Losing Interest in SFC and football in general - seems to be a common theme across a number of threads just now. From a personal perspective I found the whole summer at SFC and the start to our season all very predictable and if I’m honest I choose to walk up Ben Nevis on Saturday rather than watch us lose to Arsenal. Similar stories coming from my friends in Bournemouth and Southampton who are struggling this season and can’t quite put their finger on why. All feels a bit uninspired and predictable this season? Is it a mixture of our best players leaving every single summer, our poor start, net summer spend, new manager who is not inspiring many or are people now just coming to terms with our position (top 10 is probably all we can hope for)? Or are people just repulsed by the grotesque wages and transfers in the Prem now? Perhaps a combination of 3 or 4 things? I’ve found myself watching more golf and NFL this past week - in months gone by I would be (given chance) on SSN all day every day. Something has changed!? How are the rest of you feeling? With Europa and top 6 last season I was absolutely buzzing for the season to start back in May – I seem to have dropped from a 10 to a 5 over the past 4 months.

Perhaps it's all he knows? You get what you pay for i guess
  15. New boy band - WRONG DIRECTION
  16. Perhaps some fans want more than a top 10 finish to cheer and celebrate and perhaps seeing their ambition not being matched by the club is demotivating a few? I can understand that We as fans are fairly helpless, we can hope for the best but we have very limited powers to influence. I started following Saints in 1986 and was addicted by 1990. Not because we won (we rarely did) but because we had players like MLT that I could watch and support every season. The new generation simply don't have that - even Hojberg and Boufal talking about moving onto bigger and better things BEFORE they even kick a ball for us!! Our current owner is content with just being in the premiership - from a business perspective that's brilliant but for fans that's not exciting. Who cares if we have 40 million in the bank if the trophy cabinet stays empty for the next 10 years.
  17. You're not alone pal. Have friends who've supported Saints for years and just struggling this season to get excited (even with the Europa cup) Then there's the younger generation - my nephew for example. He's had lallana and then Mane on his replica shirts last few years - this season he's lost interest in Southampton and football as we "keep selling anyone that's good" Our 'moneyball' experiment is testing loyal fans right now. I'm tired of defending the team I support and trying to justify why we keep selling players.

    Goals

Austin is our best natural goal scorer but cannot play Puels formation. Puel was/is going to play his diamond (supposedly the only way he knows) regardless of the players we had/have available. He's now left trying to turn Nathan 'one goal in 11' Redmond into the next "Thierry Henry" lol
  19. I'd welcome cortese back here no worries. That guy had ambition and would only return with someone of similar ilk

    Puel

Puel has come from the French league and never managed outside the French league. In france the diamond can be successful but the premiership is very very different and there is no evidence the diamond can be successful here. Puel I suspect/hope will eventually realise this. Problem is our season and European campaign could already be over by the time he accepts the reality or is sacked. All IMHO

    Puel

Long averages a goal every 5 games while Redmond averages a goal every 11 games.... Statistically that's possibly the worst partnership in the premiership right now?

What's his two accounts? Ludwig and? No idea why anyone would want or need two accounts. Would imagine Mods would close multiple accounts fairly quickly so doubt it's very common
  23. I'd drop Fonte and give our new CB signing a chance.
  24. I'm sick of watching us sell our best players EVERY season I'm fed up with us not reinvesting the money we receive from player sales I'm annoyed that our managers can be just taken at ease by other premiership clubs The "defectors watch" we will run out of clubs to hate If this can't or won't improve under Kat then a change is probably needed. Kat has maybe taken us as far as she can or wants to. Personally I'd like us to win something at some stage and under Kat perhaps finishing top 10 is the best we can hope for. I simply can't celebrate that
