Small club with big appetites lol We earn nearly £20 million a year from Matchday income and another 12-15m from commercial activities / sponsorships. Think we might be able to cover the food and travel without needing to sell players every single summer?
-
Thanks for posting that - interesting read. Any idea when the next one is due out? Beginning of November I'd presume?
-
Sherwood tried it at Villa and Swansea also in small segments last season Juventus were successful with it but had there own unique touches added
-
Earlier in this thread I was told to "look at the accounts" and that our transfer profits were paying off our debt? Are we now saying this isn't the case and actually our debt keeps going up? Generating more questions than answers this thread is.

1) LOL 2) No where near as bad (Pogba and Lukaku) 3) Wasn't ever our player. Was on loan from Reading
-
Yeah decent summary that. Agree with a lot of your picks

FFS... Worried this would happen but sooner than I thought TBH Do you have anymore info? Players involved? Thanks for posting btw
-
This is the problem with our approach - buy low, sell high. Just takes a dud or two like Osvaldo and Gaston Ramieriz and boooom you've lost £50 million just like that!!
-
You will always find some examples where clubs waste money (Newcastle last season) and you will see examples where clubs don't spend a lot but do OK (us last season) But the trend leans heavily on the more you spend the better you do - the facts support this and surprised you would try to dispute that? The window is closed now so we can't do anything but support the team we have. I hope we do well and hope we over achieve again. It's hope rather than expectation

Yes I have asked (via email) no reply

Some interesting analysis done here > https://www.uk.capgemini.com/blog/business-analytics-blog/2016/06/how-much-do-you-need-to-spend-to-win-the-premier-league-by Unsurprisingly yes to compete you do need to spend money unless you are hoping for another miracle like Leicester
-
Another £20-25m that will no doubt just vanish? At what stage do we start to seriously question this? Do we wait for relegation? Perhaps we are saving for something special? Bit of transparency from the club would be good.

Agreed! After winning the league Leicester were a huge target for the vultures.... Could have easily lost 5 or 6 this summer. They lost Kante due to his release clause (£30m release clause having bought him for £5m just 12 months earlier). Likewise Everton have lost one of the top players but kept hold of others including Lukaku which is massive. Clubs like us, Leicester, Everton can probably afford to lose one player each season - our insistence on selling 3 or 4 each year is what will eventually break us.

Everton will finish above us Liverpool will finish above us Spurs will finish above us

I think all optimism died when the club apologists changed scripts from "the window is still open" to "we breed not buy success"
-
In Leslie Reed we trust
-
The window is still open - RELAX Quotes from Reed; The aspiration is to compete with the best,” he said. “That’s what we want the players to buy into. We want them to believe and the next addition will be down in reception with the trophy cabinet.”
-
Juventus might do us - they got £90m for Pogba
-
One in... One out - Why is that an issue?
Heisenberg replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Running a football club is like riding a bike... It is hard to maintain balance while standing still. For me we have not even stood still, we have regressed. Players in vs players out we are weaker (IMHO) Our marquee summer signing is injured and the winger we signed is now our super star striker. We have appointed a manager who has only ever managed in the French league and he has changed the formation that has proven so successful in the premiership. I used to complain about Mopos lack of plan B but worried Puel doesn't really have a Plan A!? Puel is also extremely boring What started as huge excitement for our biggest season in decades has been replaced with disappointment and zero expectation. We won't finish top 6, we won't win any domestic cups and we won't go far in Europe (all IMHO) -
Are we seriously making statements like this after 2.5 games?
-
Probably needs it's own thread.... Who wants to do the honours?

Woke up feeling very very confident for today. That optimism that Reed was just messing with us all summer is slowly subsiding and I'm starting to consider that Reed genuinely thinks we have enough to kick on from last season.... Scary (but hey ho Reed must know better than me right!?)
