I would love it if Hodgson would come out and say "if you're spending more time on the bench than you are playing, then I'm not interested in picking you. If there is any truth to the story then Liverpool must know we aren't going to sell a player that cost £12m for a paltry £8m. It's either made up paper talk or an attempt to unsettle him so they can come in for him in the Summer.

There may be a few supporters around the country questioning why their club didn't sign him, one way to placate them is to suggest his wage demands were extortionate. Maybe Gold is doing just that, then he and their fans can believe whatever story they like, just like us.

JWP will be feeling elated this evening - and so he should, his first goal was exquisite and he took the pen with real confidence. Thought Davis was excellent and the ball he played for Tadic's goal was class. Long's energy is such an asset to the whole team, so tenacious. Even sweeter that Spurs lost.

Score-line didn't do us justice thought we were fantastic. Total commitment from start to finish. Frazer Forster can't have had an easier night. Can't fault any of them. Special mention though to Matt Targett who looked confident and completely at ease. Fair play to Koeman, ,got it right tonight, hats off! Please, more of the same for the rest of the season.
