Best & Worst pubs of 10/11 season?
oldsarum replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in Saints Away Supporters
If it's just over the dual carraigeway from the Station it's the Brewery Tap, an excellent pub with many of the same beers Oakhams as Charters -
I see on their website Coors are resposiblefor Doombar http://www.molsoncoors.com/en/About%20Us/Our%20Markets/~/link.aspx?_id=8A6AB6CAEEDD45EDA60B2C9E1C565526&_z=z something like that in the ground would be excellent

Unfortunately Yes This is down to the fact that too many supporters in the past have abused the previous systems eg claiming under 17 or 21 tickets when older etc. This year wiht free season tickets for kids under 11 in Chapel I would imagine many would have claimed their 12 or 13 year olds were under 11 if proof hadn't been necessary. The same with the Installament Plan, this has been tightened up so people can't pay initial payments than stop making payments as many did in the past. So now you only get tickets for first 7 games until they've had confirmation that you've paid for ticket in full. It's not ideal but if people hadn't taken the p*ss in tha past this wouldn't be necessary

If you go by train Start at Ministry of Ale - just outside Burnley / Manchester Rd station Then try The Bridge Bierhus, which is 10-15 walk from ground an excellent pub although it does get crowded before and after games http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/23/23111/Bridge_Bier_Huis/Burnley -
Ipswich with Paul Jewell in charge could do well, they've already been busy in the transfer market bringing in Chopra, Ingamarsen and Ellington There are many good teams in this league, so I'd be happy with mid table as things stand at the moment

Best & Worst pubs of 10/11 season?

I thought the beer at Charters (the Barge) was excellent 12 different real ales, all the ones I tried were decent. I was in there most of the afternoon before going inot hospitality, so must of left before it got too crowded. -
London Saints do travel to most away games by train, there is a membership fee to pay for regular newsletters and to pay for membership of APFSCIL(which helps us get subsidised rail travel), plus the cost of social activities such as Pool, Darts and Cricket. Membership secretary Ray Betts will give you details, i deal with match ticket purchases. Last Season all our regular fans were able to obtain tickets for all away games desapite restricted allocations. Both Ray and my contact details are on London Saints website under LSSC contacts, I'm Terry by the way

I know some Saints season ticket holders from Maidstone and Ashford. The one from Maidstone drives to most home games, but travels with London Saints to away games outside of London.

I managed to organise for my son to be mascot at Brentford two seasons ago. This was done directly with Brentford, nothing to do with Saints even though my son is Junior Saint member I think it normally costs a little to be mascot at away game but helped by a fellow London Saint who's on Middlesex FA my sons mascot appearence was free. He had a brilliant evening mixing with the players in the dressing room before the game, getting all the teams autographs and the players and staff, especially Alan Pardew were brilliant with him and made him feel completely at home. He then lead the team out onto the pitch with Jose Fonte We have got many photo's of the day including great one of him on the pitch with Fonte, ref, opposing captain before the game. If you get the chance to get your kids as mascot I'd recoomend it.

Another Real Ale fan here who doesn't have a beard I don't see why it's impractable to provide real ale as Brighton are managing to supply decent beer in their new ground http://www.seagulls.co.uk/page/Stadium/0,,10433~2207114,00.html

I went to both games Trip to Anderlecht was great, I was on one of a couple of coaches that started at Salisbury and picked up others in Southampton then off to Dover for night crossing to Ostend. We were made to stop at Gent for hours on way to game, everyone got wrecked Great game, with over 2000 Saints fans there and Channon's goal should never have been disallowed. 2nd leg was great night at the Dell we had them on the run and at 2-0 up on the night (2-2 on aggregate) we looked like we might win tie, until Jim Steele's mistake gave them a goal. Still was a good run in competition, getting to Quarter Finals. I went to Marseilles in first round too , but that's another story

I think his name is Gary Burrell and he's the judge who put away loads of Saints fans after P*mpey Cup game, so on that basis we will not see Barney for a while

Know both 'Dave Smudger' Smith Father Christmas lookalike and Steve Jarvis Dave is a relatively late starter to watching Saints, lives in North London and started watching Saints in 90's. Only became Saints fans as all the locals in the pub he frequents, kept on promising him they would take him to a game. Pub full of Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Chelsea fans, but nothing ever came of it until Ray 'Reggie' Betts offered him a ticket for game at the Dell, since then been devoled Saints fan, has had a season ticket for last two years and goes to most away games, but has proably gone to 50 grounds Steve Jarvis has however been lifelong Saints fan and has attended majority of grounds not usre if he's done Chesterfield's new ground, but managed to get to Morecomb's new ground when our game at Rochdale was called off So don't think he's quite done all 92 but I know for sure that he and many others can not of seen Sinats at alll 92 grounds as there are many grounds that Saints have never played at eg. Chesterfield (new Ground) , Morecombe (new ground), Cardiff (new ground), Burton, Macclesfield, Accrington, Stevenage and Wigan where we hopefully play next season. Also there will be at least one possible two new grounds coming into the league with Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon

According to Solent on 8.20 sports desk they said B*mpey were attempting to join us in the Champions League through the play-off's And there was I thinking we'd been promoted to the Championship No wonder everybody was celebrating so much on the pitch last week
-
Can't argue with anything you say above However Tranmere is still my worst on all levels result, day out everything as there are some decent pubs in Colchester if you know where to look On good trip side would add Hartlepool as I've enjoyed both of my trips there including this year despite 0-0 draw, miond you does help if you are staying up there overnight for lengthy away games like this one.

Much better coverage as part of LATE KICK OFF programme thats available online all week http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01108fz/Late_Kick_Off_South_South_West_and_West_2011_Episode_15/
-
Best - Oldham away, closely followed by Brighton and Exeter two great comebacks to win at the death Worst - Tranmere a dire performance and Birkenhead is one place I'll not miss next season a really horrbile place, only other poor perfromances IMO Swindon and MK Dons
-
Think games quoted are wrong too it was Notts County and Tranmere in January, Walsall away was not until March
-
I and about 9 other Saints fans attended those two games I drove through the Alps to get there with another 3 in car Neither of games was at Juve's training ground One was played at the Town ground in St Vincent against Juventus the other in Minicipal stadium against Torino Lost 3-1 to Juve after taking the lead, and 1-0 to Torino Saints did not announce any details of the games, (as still probles with Engalnd fans in Italy at he time) but we managed to find out via a contact in Italy and then got all the details from Graham Hiley at the Echo as one of my mates was a pal of his. Great trip and met the Saints team in a bar in St Vincent the night before the Juve game, they were extremly surprised to see us there.

How many Saints games have you been to this season?
oldsarum replied to The Cat's topic in The Saints
I've been to every game, I as managed to do the same in our last promotion season in 1977/78 Know four other London Saints who have also not missed a game all season -
What's your very first memory of a Saints game?
oldsarum replied to sussexsaint's topic in The Saints
Bristol City away 1965/66 Saints won with an Own Goal in the first of the three promotion seasons I've witnessed when I was I has been to some home games that season including our 9-3 win against Wolves, but it's only the Bristol City game including the trip up there by car I remember -
I took my daughter who had not seen us win in 8-10 games to the Bristol Rovers game, so hopefully your lad will see his first win against Walsall
-
Beware most trains on monday from Exeter to Plymouth and return are Cross Country who do not accept Group 4 tickets Also cheapest way to travel without Group 4 is get return to Axminster £22.10 from Salisbury; then Return Axminster to Exeter £9.20, then Return Exeter to Plymouth which is £7.90 per adult = £39.20 if you have a Network Card you'll get 1/3rd off fares down to Exeter so would be £28.77 cheapest fare online currently £50 return
-
I thought you always drove like that, it was certainly interesting going over the cobbled streets the speed you were going

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2337637,00.html In the article on official site it said tickets to be given on basis of agmes attended, but his must have gone wrong for some on here who appear to have gone to several games but not got tickets, this could however be down to them not receiving application,(lost in post), your ticket ppurchases not being recorded properly by those in ticket office or ticket office c*ck up. If you have missed out despite being to several games, i'd contact ticket office and tell them what's happened as they sometimes get tickets retuned
