  1. I think that rubber mask is preventing the oxygen getting through to your brain. Perhaps every player should be earth class? We all know surely what is meant by World Class? It means players that are good enough to play in the best teams. Not just at club level but at International level. Which is the point I was making about Morgan the other day which you seemed to miss. If a player is keeping him out of the French team then Morgan cant be considered World Class yet. The point at which he would keep all other players out, then he becomes World Class. You used the point that Pogba was keeping him out which surely means that Pogba is the better player. If Morgan was truly World Class he would keep Pogba out of the team. With it yet?
  2. Don't sit on the fence Delldays, tell us what you really think! I have had many conversations with Arsenal supporters on the same subject as well as with Saints fans on a previous forum. Just the other night the Premiership pundits were also talking about the same thing. But feel free to disagree.
  3. Irrespective of how much money football generates, I would find it hard to argue that Premiership footballers are actually worth paying tens of thousands of pounds a week when people in the public sector, because, in the main, it doesn't generate money, people are paid relatively poorly. There is no written rule to say that clubs have to spend so much on wages, they just do. They could equally decide to spend their TV revenue on lowering ticket prices but instead they continue to pay over inflated salaries. I also don't buy into this they only have a short career so they are entitled to it nonsense. No one has a job for life anymore and we all end up losing jobs and having to find others. Why should it be any different for someone who kicks a football around? There is no reason why they shouldn't have to find themselves another job once they stop playing. Players did back in the 80s.

  5. I think the issue with Theo is that first and foremost he isn't a "footballer". Football wasn't his main sport and I seem to remember that he came to it a little later in life. He has been playing catch up ever since and certainly when he first moved to Arsenal you could see that despite his athletic qualities and the fact that he could get himself into good positions, he did seem to lack a "footballing brain." He has improved a great deal but you can still see signs of lack of footballing nous at times.
  6. If he was good enough (World Class) don't you think they would find a place for him? (not that I am saying he isn't quality)
  7. He did get capped for England while playing for us and his form/attitude took a nose dive last season. I really don't think playing for Southampton held any player back. Morgan is now playing for a "big club" but he still started on the bench the other day yet we are often told here that he is World Class.
  8. Charlton also played in an era where and decent player had lumps kicked out of them. Pele was kicked out of the WC in 1962. With Rooney's temperament I doubt if he would of stayed on the pitch for long in many of the matches.

  12. It is a quote from Monty Python. In answer to your earlier question, I am trying to do two things at once and didn't read your first response properly but yes I do think the situations are comparable.
  13. Oh dear. Did I say that? Are you Alpine's son?
  14. Is this a five mute argument or a full half hour?
  15. It is not the same but it is comparable, but then you know that and are just looking for a wind up.
  16. I cant be bothered to go through every last post but there has been some criticism about us seeking out "bargains" and not spending more on players.
  17. I don't know what the circumstances of these people are, but perhaps they are terrified of being shipped back to Syria?
  18. I am not saying it is. I am just saying that desperate times call for desperate measures and I am pretty sure no one would risk the lives of their loved ones with good reason. We have no idea what these people have been through and what their circumstances are.
  19. Of course it isn't. We have had a huge extra expenditure with the training facilities and there is the wage bill to be considered. The owners have made it clear that the club has to be self sustainable and books have to be balanced. It is easy to sit behind a computer screen and say spend more but we have been down that road before and it didn't go well. What has been our biggest spend? £15m on Osvaldo? That is put into perspective when you consider that we got £16m for Chambers. I have supported this club since 1966 and we have never been a club to spend a huge amount on players no matter who has been in control. Cant see it happening any time soon. What they will have to consider though is their spend on wages. We will never compete with the big boys but do need to compete with the likes of Newcastle and Stoke. The money we have spent on van Dijk and Clasie is a lot for us, we have brought in lots of new players this summer and have made around £3m net. I think we manage our transfers well for a club of our size.
  20. No, just a closet Spud, which is probably worse!
  21. That's him! Dementia clearly setting in!
  22. He does. It is SOGGY. Never fails to crack me up!
  23. Everything is relative. I am sure that people are risking their lives and the lives of their families for a reason.
  24. Read an article by him the other day and he admitted he did like a drink after training. Mind you there wasn't much else for them to do then. Things have changed for the better now, they just go shopping and spend their wedge nowadays.
  25. Would you have done that to flee the Nazis if you were Jewish or a Slav?
