  1. The gossip also says that we have failed in a bid for 30 year old defender Nicolas Lombaerts for £5m.
  2. It will grow and at the point there is serious money to be made from it there will be more interest from the likes of SKY. Could take a while though.

  5. You are right in that there hasn't been a lot of media noise about this one. The thing that makes me think there is something in it is that Celtic do like to keep hold of players until they qualify for the CL proper and there doesn't seem to be anyone else on the horizon just yet.
  6. Don't agree at all Sarnia. Of course he has gone but to say he has no value any more. Talk to people who saw Ron Davies or Terry Paine or Mick Channon play for us and tell them the players no longer have a value. There is no nostalgia without having worth remembering and rickie certainly gave us something to remember. We don't keep going on about the Ox or Shaw for a simple reason, they didn't score shedloads of goals that got us back into the Premiership. We keep going on about Rickie because he was a quality player who delivered the goods. And he did not start the exodus and even if he did, it was not down to RL that the others b*ggered off.
  7. His legs went to Liverpool the same way that Lovrens head went there.
  8. Really Sarnia? Have you read some of the posts here?
  9. To be fair Alpine, when things don't go the way you want or happen when you want you do tend to blame the Board of incompetence.
  10. This is all very well but we have one of the smallest and emptiest trophy cabinets going. Before we are held up as a shining example of how a club should be run we need to start winning things. Until then we will continue to find it difficult to keep the top players here.
  11. He might not be of value to us anymore but his goals got us where we are now and there are many fans who will never forget his contribution to our journey, even if there are some who seem to want to tarnish his good name.
  12. The UI say we have been sniffing around the 19 year old Barca winger Adama Traore.
  13. Fortunately Guan I think that most right-minded people realise it is total b*ll*cks and appreciate Rickie for the great player and ambassador he was for the club. Sadly it didn't work out for him at Liverpool where he was wasted but I wish him well at WBA and am sure he will find himself appreciated there.

  15. Games get played on Sundays Europa Cup or no.
  16. For me I'm more concerned with the domestic competitions but I want us to compete in everything we take part in.
  17. Whatever, the bloke was class for us.
  18. Indeed. He may have been an employee but he played his part in our fantastic journey and has supplied many great memories along the way. He deserves a legend status as far as I am concerned.
  19. Brilliant come back after the horrible game at Lords. Onwards and upwards!!!
  20. There are viewpoints and there are facts. Made some strong assertions about Lambert. Were they just your viewpoints or do you know these things for a fact? I ask because they don't stack up with what went on when he left.
  21. I don't agree that it is a lazy comparison. Booby Moore had no pace but he had a football intelligence that made him a cut above the rest. I played against an ex Palace full back many years ago long after he had packed up professional football. He was the oldest guy on the pitch and played at a trot but he had so much time on the ball and he ran the match, we couldn't get near him to take the ball off him. There are plenty of players who don't have pace (Pirlo is another who springs to mind) but have great careers because of their skill and footballing brains. Football is like chess and you need to think more than you need to charge about. Remember when Walcott was younger? His speed was killing defenders but he would get himself into great positions and then screw it up with his final ball. Rickies best days are behind him but his best days were down to his skill and that is something he will never lose.
  22. No it doesn't, but that doesn't make you a bad player either.
  23. I was in London last night and went home on a train with several people wearing West Ham shirts, and looking very unhappy. One of the best train journeys I have had.
