It is not unreasonable for Pardew to be judged on his progress after 18 months. What is unreasonable to judge him after every loss or draw. Like every team in football, we have poor results. It is how we perform over the whole season that is important, not the odd dropped point. It is hard to fathom how there were threads and posts about Pardew's future the week after winning a cup! The Echo website has people on it who want Pardew out and there are obviosuly people on here who wil call for his had if we have a slump next season, despiate the fact that even the best teams/managers have shown that happens. He is saying all the right things, it is the shame the club aren't saying the same.

They should have sacked the manger

Bloody hell, best season in years, won a trophy, won matches, scored lots of goals yet we are STILL talking about at what point Pardew's future should be called into question. Honestly, why? IF we do not well next season then it is a no brainer that discussions will be had....but why even go there now??? Haven't you lot had enough of the managerial merry go round?

Actullay before I go, I like to leave Alpine and C B fry with something to ponder on as they don't seem to work. How is it that a manager who puts 2 points on the board a game and another who won every other game get less support than one who only managed less than one win per four games? Answers on a postcard. Play nicely now!

I am off to work now Mr Fry, but thanks for brightening up my morning. You and Alps are priceless. By the way, how much does it cost to buy promotion again?
-
Yet you found it impossible to give a simple on word answer when asked to pledge your support for him for next season. Hmmmmmm.
-
Indeed. The sad thing is that he can't see that he is exactly what he accuses others of being. Still, it is good for a laugh.
-
If he goes you would "celebrate or mourn"? And I need help? What would you do to decide which? Toss a coin?
-
Despite what the wrist slitters would have us believe, Pardew has done very good job this season and his stock will be high. There will be plenty of clubs out there keen to have him.
-
Of course they are open to question. But it has hardly been a disasterous season has it? And without the minus 10 you get the true picture. He gets pulled apart when things don't go well, which hasn't been that often, but precious littel credit when he gets things right, which has been quite frequently. I agree that most people on here want him to stay...but there is a vocal minority who are on his back every time we drop points and would not shed a tear if he were to leave.

Aha, I see that you have fallen into the pot ketle black trap of you mates Alpine and C B Fry. Wasn't it you who start the not if but when thread? Go and have a look at some of the stupid things written last night. Remind me again, who long ago was it we won at Wembley and took Bristol Rover apart? Jeez, talk about only as good as your last match.

Where is your evidence? It was always third hand gossip. Plenty of manager's drink. Can you prove that Burley is/was an alchy? His made Alan Brazil certainly likes a drink and would know wouldn't he? Could an alchy run the London Marathon as Bulrey is due to do? Maybe he did lose interest. Having had his three best players sold from under him and then his CEO coming out and stating publically that the promotion push was over (oh, and funny that he didn't get any stick from the usual suspects for that) then really, who could blame him for wanting out. Have a pop at him for his team selections, players choices etc, but if you are going to accuse him of something like this, perhaps you would like to provide cast iron proof.

For all of you gagging to see the back of Pardew after last night's heinous crime of drawing at home, think back. The perceived wisdom on here was the Burley was useless and should go because we could do better. Burley went yet the following 5 managers that followed him could barely buy a win between them until Alan Pardew turned up. The perceived wisdom was that Lowe was uselss and should go because we could do better. Lowe went yet the string of people who tried to run the club made aright pig's ear of things, so much so that the despised Lowe was asked back to try and sort the mess out. You might get you way. Pardew might find a better job (where he is wanted) or he might be asked to leave. But, just as spending money does not guarantee promotion, notr does getting shot of a manager guarntee that things will improve. Whatever happens through what is left of the season, Pardew has done a good job and was finally undone by the minus 10 points, not because he is a useless manager. As was said once before, be careful what you wish for....

Funny that DD I seem to remember the reason Burley has some problems with the Scootish players because he was trying to sort out the drinking culture.
-
If he does go that will please a few on here.
-
Perish the thought that you should pass up the opportunity to have a pop at our manager.
-
Yeah, because we have had such a cr*p season.
-
Perhaps Mr Cortese would like to be the manager then? I am sure he could do so much better.
-
Petulant child? Something you would know something about Geoff. FFS, he wants promotion as badly as we all do and now you are slagging him off for showing some emotion when it is slipping away. You really are a nasty piece of work and give decent Southapmton supporters a bad name. Just go away and take C B Fry with you.
-
Are you Alpine and C B Fry one of the same person?
-
Nail, hammer, head. Thank f*ck Alpine has nothing to do with decisions made at the club otherwise a very good manager would be on his way out. Give him until Christmas? Very big of you Alpine. Frankly who gives flying f*ck what you think??? A poll perhaps?
-
No. I will qualify that if you like. If you read the thread and the posts from people who have a reasonable idea what they are talking about it is apparent that Barclays not Lowe determined when we went into administration. You obviously dodn't read my original reply about the yes or no issue. As for his "pithy" come back. Really? Alpine doing pithy is like Alpine supporting a manager. Still, it is nice that he is building up a small support group. Care in the community and all that Your another one who will never forgive me for not joining the hanging party. Interesting to see that even people like Duncan are reappraising their view of the old CEO. As for shades of grey, probably better than shades of black. Sorry, just trying to match Alpine's attempt trying to take the pith.

You do wonder where football in this country would be if every bank called in their debts. Murdoch was a great one for racking up huge debts and daring the banks to pull the plug. I think they were very close to doing that with SKY at one point but he fronted them out. He got away with it. In the big scheme of things our debt wasn't that huge. Perhaps that was Rupert's biggest mistake? Perhaps he should have racked up a bigger debt? It has worked out well for us so far but if ML ever jumps ship we could be back in the mire again. And of course we could have ended up with Pinnacle or some of the dodgy characters that have pitched up elsewhere.

Look for it on the normal stations rather than the movie channel. D'oh.

RIP Reginald. 96 eh? He saw so many changes in his life. It was nice that he passed at a time when his club was on the up again and had success at Wembley.
