East Kent Saint

Thanks , I have to stay out of the sun , apart from fair skin , because I can’t function at 30 C plus ! My concern is mainly for the players at any sport in 40 C such as tennis and Tour de France , but a winter game such as football or rugby is a bit bonkers . Being 71 I remember 1962 / 63 winter where the ice floes piled up on camber sands , 1976 when the pavement was almost too hot to walk on ! but mainly the 4 seasons that we used to have in the UK . so lets hope we get 2 semi finals to remember and perhaps a decent final .

You can't bury your head in the sand , climate change is real and has got worse during my 71 years . I could say WC should be in Europe but it has been over 40C in Spain , France etc Yes, Miami is getting significantly hotter due to climate change. The city now experiences over 40 more days per year with above-normal summer temperatures than it did in 1970, with heat index values frequently soaring into the triple digits. This is from Google . My point is about playing sport in adverse conditions , remember the Australian tennis open where players were retiring due to the heat ? To continue with WC it may be necessary to reschedule from the summer months , it may be that all stadiums have to be covered and air conditioned ! As you say , come on England , let's hope they stay the course .

Yes, Miami is getting significantly hotter due to climate change. Yes, Qatar is heating up much faster than most of the world. Because the country is a peninsula surrounded by rapidly warming seas, its average temperatures have already jumped more than 2° C above pre-industrial levels. etc etc quotes from Google

I could have but all the record breaking temperatures and slow but sure warming of the planet shown by weather records means it is worth thinking about . If you remember Quatar was too hot so the WC was moved ! This is happening it's not made up , yes Miami is hot in the summer months but it is even hotter now.

Because they lost ! Imagine the outcry if we lost due to a VAR intervention! Better for Refs to make mistakes in real time in the moment.

No that was 1966 , England’s turn ……

I don’t but it would be good if stadium seats were spaced to allow that to happen 😀

What would be good is spacing the seats out so you could sit next to 2 fat bastards .

The commentators fail to mention in detail the affect of the climate change excess heat on the players . Temperature is part of the equation but humidity plays a big part . They were playing in 33 C heat but the humidity made it 45 C I have experienced it in USA and it is totally disabilitating , you could see the England players pulling their shirts off their body to try and get some relief but nothing happens due to humidity.

An example of demonised Rattin by the UK press , as media was known then , showing the media haven't changed , a thing for a few clicks these days

Unfortunately Rattin was demonised by our great British press , I think unconscious bias was applied by Ref etc . Not saying Argies weren't dirty bastards but that was normal in those days , Leeds for example 😄 The Great British media , Sky news , were commenting on Anne Widdicombe being a virgin ffs , of course Farage is milking for all it's worth etc

It's one that bounced just before the keeper so he wasn't quite in the right position, ball just hit him , unlucky I would say ! Courtois Bazed the first one palming out to the striker you could say .

Ref didn't see it distracted by subs apparently ..

Wow Spain let in a goal another first ...

Less so now Spain have scored ! A bit of Baz style goalkeeping as well , get slated on here for that 😄

Slightly better game tonight after the Iberian bore !

Dobbin , not another Donkey 😄

No it doesn't there's no reason why SFC can't include a women's team all part of the business . The women werern't handed anything SFC wanted to have one on board . What is truly appalling is the treatment of the team , players , coaching staff , junior members etc . Our local team did similar to the youth set up . Started their own program without any reference to all the years people had put in , half way though the youngsters 2 year program etc , everyone just cast aside disgraceful in both cases .

Liverpool regretting extending Van Dijk’s contract and trying to off load him , worth a cheeky bid ? 😆

I get that but I was impressed in the earlier matches by his waiting for goalie to make a move then score in the space and where in another match instead of just smashing it from short range he placed it across the goalie right in the corner . Unfortunately ‘taters are over the top !

He has the touch , picks his spot to score, dribbles as though the ball is attached to his foot , creates space for himself etc . Top player even at his age , better than Ronaldo .

I used to say similar things to my men at work , not that it made much difference 😄

Losing £2M or investing £2M for the future of Saints football ? One players wages not worth it ? Whole teams and coaching staff cast aside for what ? A sad day for Saints , as if their current reputation wasn't bad enough .

Exactly , a reset definitely required . I would go with feet on the ground as defining datum point . As for snicko on the ball wtf ?

Unfortunately WC VAR is worse than Prem League VAR , Croatia may be peeved at having their goal chalked off but earlier Ronaldo's goal was chalked off because a small amount of his shoulder was "offside" FFS his feet were 18 inches onside !! There is the whole total deflation of the supporters who celebrate their goal then 8 mins later it's chalked off , what a waste of £ 2000 to get a ticket .
