JWP would be good to have in the squad but the squad is ok anyway . They are playing as a team and Southgate has deployed subs and the team seem to have accepted that so team selection has been good for each match . If England beat Denmark then it was the right decision. Will Walker keep his place ?

As said before this is the modern coaching method, it seems this is what they learn when getting their coaching badges !

In cricket the Umpires decision was final but there were plenty of examples where they were wrong or homers etc . Internationals then introduced neutral umpires and dissent was clamped down on , then came technology . I have no idea how accurate it actually is but it seems to be widely accepted as OK by the teams . Snicko shows how wrong you can be and the ball tracking seems to be a good guide . When it was introduced it was thought the Umpires were reluctant to take the decision and refered it to the third umpire too often . It has settled down well now and only area of issue tend to be catches where it may have touched the ground and run outs where it is very close but generally works OK compared to the old days. Rugby has more issues as it is difficult to see sometimes if a try has been touched down and the same issues with say a foot touching the white line by millimetres so given as in touch and no try . Refs do tend to have their reputations for whistle blowing or letting the game flow and dissent has been clamped down on as well. So football needs to up it's game on VAR and how it's used and Refs need better oversight , too many have reps for cards or getting it wrong but are still given matches.

I thought he has skill but his constant fouling , protestations and diving plus smirking face put him in the Ronaldo category ie good player but I find him very irritating !!

In the past outstanding players in a tournament don't flourish after their subsequent transfer !

He didn’t seem to cut across the ball , perhaps it’s the ball but no one has complained about the tournament ball ?

They say it is because the home advantage has been reduced by decent pitches , improved travel for away teams etc so the statistical advantage has reduced , It is also said that for Women's football there is still an advantage but they have to come in line anyway !

That game affected how I felt about watching England to this day , always remember a pass for Bobby Charlton to run onto but he was exhausted by the heat and was 30 secs too late arriving !

Scotland's back 5 nullified England's attack plus Scotland's players played their hearts out while out of form England players passed the ball between themselves allowing Scotland to all get behind the ball . At the end the goal mouth scramble showed Scotland throwing themselves at the ball to keep it out while several England players stood waving their arms !!!

I thought Long was ok to stay but he just got worse and worse , offside and total lack of control. I can only assume once he resigned his head went !

Yep , keep the game flowing , take responsibility for a decision , only use VAR for obvious mistakes , go with ref’s decision otherwise !

Fixed lines of defence were the answer to the previous wars , history has shown you just have to go round them . Our own border has been shown to be a border in name only . Bleriot showed this to be the case in 1909 when he flew over the channel and landed in Dover !
