Indeed, Versailles is the 3rd most visited attraction in the world. The top UK site is the Tower of London down in 28th place.

£19.30 per game. I can live with that.

The Unions also discriminated against religion (at least in Scotland). A company I worked for had a chemical plant in Grangemouth. An ex-Works Manager told that, if he tried to hire a Catholic, he'd have the Shop Stewards in his office "requesting" that he changed his mind.

There were no issues with the Mayflower. it was the Speedwell that needed repairs. That was the only reason they went into Dartmouth. The Speedwell had further problems abut 200 miles into the voyage and both ships had to return to Plymouth where the Speedwell's passengers transferred to the Mayflower that continued the voyage alone.

Cracking game. Both teams pouring forward.

3.5 million at the last election giving them 72 MPs.

Considering that in 1970 fatalities were around 7500, it shows how much safer roads and vehicles have become. Also a lot more traffic now, around 33 million vehicles compared with around 22 million 30 years ago.

My grandson's school was recently visited by Bikeability and they were shown basic riding skills and given instruction on road safety etc.

What are we supposed to be celebrating? It seems to be generally accepted that he was a Roman soldier of Greek descent. He never came here and it seemed to be due to Edward III selecting him as the patron saint of the Order of the Garter that he became nationally known.

As long as the price doesn't go up, I'll be renewing. My 10-year old grandson will also be getting his first season ticket (does that count as child abuse)? I read this article which says that the big clubs are looking to reduce the number of season ticket holders in favour of "tourists". Apparently, season ticket holders tend to turn up and watch the game without spending much, whereas the tourists buy the over-priced stuff in the club shops. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/apr/11/a-parasitical-business-model-football-ticket-resellers-squeeze-out-loyal-supporters?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

Just read a an opinion that Donald has imposed his tariffs knowing that the stock markets would plummet. His rich mates buy up a load of cheap shares, Donald then has a change of heart, removes or reduces tariffs and the markets come back up and his mates get even richer.

As someone who was a teenager in the 60's, I find it sad to see the great bands of my youth staggering on and living on past glories. The Stones obviously don't need the money so I wonder what the motivation is. But despite all that, for Jagger to be still performing as he does at nearly 82 is quite an achievement.

Probably impede season ticket sales unless there is some price reductions.

That would mean playing 3 centre-backs in their correct positions. So it probably won't happen.

Useless fact. if you take the train from Southampton to Waterloo, after you pass through Woking station, the first road on the left is Stanley Road. This is where Paul Weller grew up and the title of one of his albums.

If a formal complaint was made it's standard procedure for the police to inform her. Why it wasn't a solitary PC is another question. She wasn't questioned, just informed about the complaint. i'd be more concerned about the Councilor abusing the complaints process to try and silence criticism.

Just listened to a bit of a talk given by Suella Braverman to the Heritage Foundation, the right-wing US think tank. She proposed that, in 20 years, the UK could be a nuclear-armed Islamic state and be a greater threat to the US than either Russia or China. Considering that Muslims make up 7% of the population and many of those are not Islamist, it would take a pretty dramatic electoral swing to bring them to power. This woman was the Home Secretary and is still an MP. The fact that she feels the need to spout this bollox suggests that she's becoming a bit desperate for attention or is she just deluded?
