  1. Pele is a great shout, he would really fit in to the current formation as one of the players infront of the back 4.
  2. Think we might get him till the end of the season as I don't think Chelsea have made there minds up about his long term future yet. When/if he leaves Chelsea it will be for a reasonable prem side like Bolton or Pompey.
  3. Because there is nothing to tell? Jan obviously wants to keep him and it looks like he wants to stay so they are probably waiting on Chelsea to make up there minds. To me Corks situation deppends on wether or not Chelsea think he will make the grade if they do then he will probably stay with us to the end of the season for experience if they don't then they will probably sell him off to Bolton or Pompey etc. Back on topic I'm glad to see Dyer back were are desperatley short of a right winger and when he's on his game he is an outstanding player at this level let's just hop a few months up north has sorted his attitude a little and got his focus back.
  4. I'm assuming the OP was meaning big names in terms of our club as otherwise we've only ever made about 1 really big name signing and that was Kegan. Crouch was a reasonably big name with a couple of pretty big money transfers behind him, he'd just fallen off the Radar a little after not really hitting the heights at Villa. He was certainly well known amongst the fans even of most were not convinced. The other two are a bit different as they came from oiutside England allthough Niemi must have been reasonably well known or Utd wouldn't have been interested and I've always felt Killer would have signed for a bigger club than us years before if he'd been blessed with a little more pace. Since relegation I'd say the two biggest names we've signed are Rasiac and John both of whom for me were resounding successes who were let down by the club not the other way round as is so common. Before that your probably looking at Kevin Phillips. Obviously the list of failures is long and distinguished with the stand outs for me being David Hirst, Stuart Ripley and Andrei Kanchelskis.
  5. You're right probably shouldn't have included him, he looked half decent when I saw him against Notts County in the Carling cup was a shame the rest of the team didn't turn up that night! The other two would probably be pretty decent for us in our current situation too so I guess the real question is where is Imnats Bliedellis when we need him?
  6. I suspect they could both use a break from the firing line, it is afterall there first season as first team regulars. Normally we could ease them in and out around and experienced spine but that does not seem to be happening!
  7. Bit harsh on gillett that, I thought he had a storming start to the season and then went off the boil a little before he was injured. Probably just needed a week or so out of the firing lines like all our kids could do with.
  8. Was going to say that if he ever gets a first team apearence I'll eat my hat but then I realised with some of the players we've fielded this year anything is possible. Hell even Sarmiento, Arias and Challa would have gotten into this side!
  9. Tell that to Stuart Pearce and Ian Wright who were both playing non-league at his age becuase the big clubs had decided they were not up to it? There are loads of other examples Geof Horsfield was carrying bricks inbettween games in his early twenties.
  10. I'd like to see Gillett back in the side his ebergy and commitment is fantastic, just a shame he's another one of the dwarf brigade, if he was 6'2" and played in the same way he'd be imence.
  11. Forest were at £27 a ticket in league 1 a couple of seasons ago when I went with a Carlisle fan, it was well over the top for the standard but the turnout was still fantastic.
  12. Watch out for spurs stationary department running out of plain brown envolopes around January time. Who will be the obscure loan signing this time who doesn't get on the pitch?
  13. Don't think it was really Strachans fault, I think he's just lost motivation and needed to move back up north closer to his family and roots. The last time I saw him play for us he was about the same size as Hammil, I'm sure in one of his final seasons he even managed to pick up 5 yellow cards in 4 appearences from the bench (The 5th comming while he was sat on the bench) and get suspended. Was a shame as I've always rated him.
  14. I thought at the start of the season they said both shirts would be for a single season? Personally I'm hoping this 1 year thing for the away kit is a one off so they can then have it on a two year cycle out of synch with the first team strip. To those wiching the yellow kit will be our second strip I wouldn't hold your breath, it's not a good seller and thats the bottom line, people like the grey/black kits that look ok with a pair of jeans. I can't remember the last time our second strip was the yellow one.
  15. Can't see how they can possibly prove this beyond reasonable doubt, the defence lawyers must be licking there lips in anticipation of a nice easy fee.
  16. Paul Jones always seems to get alot of undeserved stick for me, he made very few real mistakes yet always gets singled out as a dodgy keeper. Paul Telfer and Paul Williams also did really well for us especially in the early Strachan days, Paul Williams managed to be an almost seemless replacment for Dean Richards which was no mean achievment.
  17. Have a look at there squad, they have plenty of central midfield options what they lack is a keeper who can keep and a centre forward or two as backup. For me AL would fill neither option for them so he would be a bit of a luxury allthough I wouldn't put it passed old saggy chops to buy him just to **** us off.
  18. Possible but very very unlikely, the ground isn't worth very much as realestate given the location and the current financial crisis. the bank are much more likely to transfer the loan arrangment to the new owners with maybe a slight renegotiaiton as they will see more money in the long run.
  19. That makes sense, I mean why would we want a player who when fit would walk into pretty much every team in the leagues starting eleven?
  20. I know this has been answered dozens of times but my power of the search function is weak and I can't seem to find the answer! Could one of the stato's please tell me how many players have actually played for Southampton since relegation or if thats to tricky how many players have been at the club regardless of whether they played or not?
  21. Which means you would have seen Patrick Colletter play which would make you a liar.
  22. Looking at these best 11's is a real eye opener, most of these players have only been in our first team for less than a season! The rate of player turn over since relegation is frightening, anyone know how many players have actually worn the saints shirt since that dreaded day?
  23. £30 seems bloomin reasonable after paying £29 to watch Sheffield Wednesday V's Norwich on the weekend!
  24. Every quote I've ever had from a builder/plaster etc has always been x amount + VAT not x amount inculding VAT there fore the builder will be able to keep his price the same. If I was preparing quotes that had a set period of time they are vlid for I would always quote without VAT.
  25. Thats our youth academy, I rekon it must have been designed to only produce midgets so they could save a few quid getting kiddie length beds in. I've yet to see a normal size man emerge from the ranks.
