Surely the board have a civic duty to sack him before the. To protect the city…
-
I hope he has invested the funds well I don’t see him landing another job soon!
-
Well done you found one, still stands that most successful teams in British football don’t play 3 centre backs and again Instand to be corrective but I can’t remember saints ever doing it well. How many sides in the top ten of the championship this year will play 3 centre backs in most games?
-
It’s too early to write him off but if he sticks to playing three centre backs for the next couple of games I will be firmly in the manager out camp. I struggle to think of a single instance of any team being successful in English football playing 3 centre backs and we are always awful when we do!
-
He’s clearly broken, I will never understand why we signed him a terrible decision for a club with limited funds.
-
One of the few players I wouldn’t expect to leave Wednesday unless the chairman forces him out as he is finally guaranteed to start which is what he has wanted.
-
Still think that should have been the last time he pulled on the shirt, absolute shower and a total embarrassment. Club captain and sent off for pulling someone’s hair just about sums up last season .
-
Not so convinced, Ipswich had one of those seasons where the stars all aligned when they went up similar to when Leicester one the Prem. I think they will find it incredibly difficult to repeat the trick without a squad overhaul. we won’t really know how anyone stands until the window closes particularly for the relegated teams as there are simply too many ifs and maybes around squads.
-
He’ll need to se plenty of game time if we want him to sign an extension, he’d be mad to commit himself for longer and then land up a bit part player. His form at Wednesday showed he was clearly capable of being a really good Championship midfielder as a minimum so he will want to be playing and developing. Fingers crossed he has a great season and we get to see if he is EPL standard next season.
-
I think if people are honest KWP is a solid signing for a mid table prem side, he was never going to one of the big boys as he's just not quite a that level but he has shown he is a class above the Championship and too good to be relegation fodder. I wish him all the best decent player, decent bloke but part of the past now.
-
We already have one of the best groups of strikers in the Championship on our books Armstrong is absolutely top notch at this level BBD and Archer also have form in this league and it appears that Stewart now has two legs so I don't think buying a promising young striker is showing a lack of ambition, it will be more interesting what happens with our best players like Fernandez and who is lining up in defence and goal at the end of the window we have massive hole at right back and potentially a need for a new keeper.

The trouble is that a functional democracy relies on having a well informed intelligent electorate, to allow them to evaluate what politicians say and choose appropriately. Unfortunately recent British history shows that our electorate is no well informed or capable of the critical thinking necessary to asses the messages delivered by politicians and make appropriate choices. The electorate is to easily led by liars and charlatans and incapable of processing anything beyond three word slogans and obvious othering.

Given his none saints goal scoring record I would expect him to be a solid goal scorer in the championship doesn’t mean he will make it in the prem but not using him in the championship was dense.
-
Totally agree it is nice to be talking about a game we could have (probably should have) won rather than another error strewn mess where we topped the possession stats without ever looking like scoring. If we carry on in that vain for the rest of the season we will pick up goals and hopefully be in a position to hit the ground running next season. We know this squad is more than capable of an immediate return to the top flight.

BBC reporting an 18 month contract will be interesting what we go for.
-
Unless he really impressed over the remainder of the season which I’m sure will be the hope on both sides. What ever happens it sounds like he will give the team a kick up the backside and get them fitter and playing more aggressively all of which is a good thing ahead of a season in the championship.

Skacel/Burley dream team it is then both are available, know the club and have loads of experience…

Moyes spent more time at West Ham in the last ten years than anywhere else and was very successful, saved them from relegation twice and then led them to two record finishes and a European trophy. Makes him more successful than anywhere else saints manager in about 50 years!
-
Much better we still lost but at least we went out and tried to win the game Martin would have had us recycling the ball around the back four for the last ten minutes to make sure we won the vital possession stat and to keep Jan top of the touches league!
-
Martin would have probably substituted the entire 11 after 15 minutes with those stats!
-
Exactly, anyone who takes the job now needs to be willing to manage in the championship next season as that is where we will be for this reason the Potters and Moyes of this world won't be coming we would have needed a reasonable shot at survivable to stand any hope of attract that type of manager. Rohl will be managing in the Championship next season if he joins us or not so he has to look at next season and which club gives him the best opportunity to be successful and step up to the next level.

Eddie Howe was a mediocre mid table championship manager not long ago and the fan base would cream themselves if we appointed him today! Appointing overseas managers is no guarantee of success it’s easy to cherry pick both ways. I loved watching Saints under Gordon Strachan and he was a failed premier league manager coaching in the championship when we signed him! The trouble is nothing in football ball is guaranteed, I would be happy with either if the current championship manager contenders because they are successful and favour a style of football I like. Equally I would be happy with a decent overseas appointment etc and then it will just been down to luck as is the case with all managerial appointments/transfers etc at our level. Sadly we are not rich/big enough to attract anything close to guaranteed success.
-
I think the point being made is at the point Potter became a premier league manager he hadn’t achieved a great deal in the championship but it worked out! Not all managers in the championship is Jones or Martin!

I live in Sheffield and Wednesday fans absolutely love both him and Rohl and will be gutted to see either leave in January. They rate Charles one of the best players they’ve seen at the club in donkeys years. I’d take Rohl simply because he shows a bit of passion and knows how to get good results from a below average group, Wednesday looked as good as relegated when he took over last season but he turned them round and and then this year has them well up the table and I would say punching above their weight given spend.

What situations can the fans accept with the new manager?
a1ex2001 replied to Nolan's topic in The Saints
I’ll be happy if the team look fitter, harder to beat and we go forward with intent. I fully accept we are relegated but if Sheffield united can go down in an utter shambles and now stand top of the league then so can we!- 60 replies
