  1. the other alternative is to sign the player for 3-5 years and let them stay for that period. In that time we may build a team that is so successful that they then want to stay.Fanciful perhaps but you never know.
  2. Tell the Leicester and Everton fans that and they could laugh in your face. Ok they have sold 1 player to other clubs, 3 or 4 season on season and then throw in progressive managers. People say that RK left for more money, well perhaps he left as he knew that everytime he made a decent team he would have to sell. I will always support Saints but it is hard to see players you admire on the pitch constantly get sold.
  3. In the past I would have raged all weekend and still be in poor mood. At the final whistle I just thought 'typical lucky Arsenal' and got on with things. I have Sky but watch few games as they dont inspire me anymore
  4. preferable to having a £200 meal and somebody thinks its ok to pop one out to feed a baby. It seems some people think that their child is the only one in the world and so has to show us all. I suppose next it will be fine to change the nappy at the table as well.
  5. To build partnerships around the world and increase commercial revenue means you have to attract fans. Floating fans will not be attracted to clubs who sell their prized assets year on year. It is disheartening for life time fans let alone fans who have a choice not based on where you were born. I know that we will get 'you cant stop players leaving' etc etc but you can if they are on 2 year contracts or more.
  6. 100% agree.
  7. Can somebody tell us what bargaining power we have with the Americans Chinese etc. They will see us coming to them, cap in hand and trying to look strong with them knowing full well that we need them. It will be like the lend lease at the start of WWII where we had to give away our military bases to the Americans for a load of dodgy and decrepid destroyers etc. Churchill made a saying about 'the deal' at the time but off the top of my head I cant recall what it was.
  8. great a top half finish, something dreams are made of. I suppose its better than a bottom half finish. In 20 years time we will be able to say 'I was there when we finished 8th or 7th or 6th' If the club really mean what they preach about growing our fanbase then it is about time they showed it, as selling stars will not wash with fans from throughout the world. They wont feel proud to support a team that finishes as also rans. IMO they are playing us, I still fell for buying a pair of football shorts for £25 quid as it has a saints emblem on it, I doubt they would cost more than a fiver without the logo. Im a mug punter due to my years of supporting Saints but I am getting more and more fans talking to me who feel pretty let down and losing interest.
  9. its a case fans care. The club has been telling fans that we were going for CL and so many believed it. IMO you can only dash fans hopes so many times before they lose interest or faith in the club. Rightly or wrongly there was a feeling that we again had built a team that could challenge and with a good bit of investment could really do something. Again we culled our stars and manager and failed to reinvest that money fully into the squad. I suppose the realisation that we will always jut be also rans is sinking in and the frustration is coming out
  10. where did he say that? I watched Motd 2 and they didnt mention the pen
  11. but that wasnt the challenge!!!!
  12. I always wonder why hush hush meetings are done within 20 minutes of our training ground and not in Geneva etc. Anyway I wouldn't take a client to Limewood, not classy IMO allowing women to breast feed in the fine dining area ffs . i know it's trendy but
  13. the fact of the player lying injured did not get mentioned on motd. we always get dire decisions or refs who are determined c for Arsenal to beat us. i think it is about time that refs had to do after match interviews
  14. perhaps not a world league but aeuropean super league is more likely.
  15. I suppose if you just stand in the middle and wait for them to kick it straight then perhaps that is true but if you think that they can wait to see which way its going and then dive you have no chance
  16. Darren, some years ago they did a scientific study of keepers waiting for the kick with Peter Shilton who believed he could wait. He never got near the ball. The ball goes so quick there is no real time to dive if the ball is already struck
  17. well they werent moaning about parachute payments a few years back and conveniently had an extra one bunged to them
  18. I voted remain, but this is getting ridiculous. We cant go back on the decision and what a national disgrace if we try and wriggle out. I have always followed that an Englishmans word is his bond and that is how is should stay. As for all the laws, basically it will be best we keep to how it is and in time repeal anything that does not fit, not go through every piece. The civil servants and lawyers will love the overtime
  19. Basically you are saying fingers and everything else crossed. So far our defence looks less secure than last season and the loss of our best defensive midfielder, therefore I was being generous not highlighting that we may need to score 2 goals instead of 1 to win games. Yep many variables but we can look at the past record of Shane Long (who is a great team player) and you can see he is unlikely to start being a 20+ goal a season man. If that is the best cmplacensy you have ever seen you must be on a bloody good bonus
  20. lets hope he can score the 22 goals we are short of due to sales. Complacency is a dangerous game to play. It is madness to rely on Bouful to hit the ground running after match winning players have been sold. Please assure me where the goals are going to come from the midfield and attack so that we are going to win plenty of games?
  21. I wouldnt put us in the good section. It is the time will tell box. If the main signing does not come off we have had a terrible window. I think it is too much to expect of the young player we bought from Bayern to make our midfield strong
  22. talk about giving it out but cant take it lol. Personally I would be happy to debate chat with fans of other clubs if they were not giving it the big one.
  23. Well it depends who you believe is/was our most valuable player. If you think that had an offer of £35m come in for VVD we wouldnt have sold I would say you would be wrong. So yes we did sell our most valuable player, IMHO
