  1. I was 16 and everybody looked old aged to me in those days. I expect they were only in their 20's lol, even so it was 40 years ago and and even the ones in their late 20's will be in their late 60's
  2. I have my concerns but we have to wait and see who we still get in
  3. fair point but their fans have lots of fantastic memories that in turn bring more fans for life. Iam not saying get into their position but to get new generations of fans into the club you need to actually win something. I was privilaged to be there when we won the FA cup, I suspect 70% of those at that game probably passed away now. To get a worldwide fanbase the club have spoken about, you need success and win the odd thing. It gets tiring watching our former players going up and collecting medals, how about the Southampton Way being that we actually win something for a change
  4. To my mind the extreme Brexiteers will be impossible to appease whatever we negotiate with the EU.Therefore it would be better to negotiate a deal that suits the majority. If we negotiate an emergency brake on immigration and still be in the single market but not withe political ties, surely would give the Brexiteers the bragging rights, but at the same time allow us to stay with the advantages we gain being in the market. Those poor souls sitting in traffic outside Dover might be thinking 'this is the future if we leave the EU'
  5. see the poison of the vote has made decent people turn on each other. You and Shurlock normally seem decent and not going down the jibe route, sadly it is spreading
  6. the Guardian are saying that the EU may give us a 7 year ;emergency brake' and we could stay in the single market, Boris feels it is a good thng. This is a positive and if we get a deal like that the Brexiters have done well. It would mean we have the best of both worlds. I would like to give link but cant do on my lap top. It is on MSN if anybody can copy the link
  7. the traffic jams at Dover, is it the French showing us what is to come?
  8. A lot of that is true but it is a bit pathetic to say the death of the MP was in the Remain favour and used. Also I read the Government leaflet and felt it was fair. To say about lying is an absolute joke as the bus with the 350m to the NHS was the worst piece of deception since Blair and the WMD
  9. Providing a fan for Coutinho,it doesn't state male or female
  10. Of course we will sign him, we buy players with girls names, Marian, MArtina and so Valerie is a nailed on certainty
  11. i was desperate that it was not a Muslim.
  12. If we all wish to be negative then I agree that helps turn it to fact. As a retailer, exporter and dealing with trade contacts I can feel the sense of gloom in the business sector. As has been pointed out the PMI report is pretty disturbing, but surely not unexpected. If in my small clique of business friends is anything to go by next month will be worse. I really hope you and the other brexiters are correct, I doubt you are though, that we will pull through quickly. It seems we may have this uncertainty for 2 years and that is going to cause its own harm to the economy. The BOE will have to talk us up as the markets will look at any negatives to pull the plug. There could also be the factor of the Euros , poor weather (up to now), Wimbledon and soon the Olymics to have an effect on consumer spending.
  13. We had the best run for 40 years and then 3 weeks before the referendum and since the tap has been turned right off. The economic news is slowly starting to come in and the effects of the vote will take a few months to really show what a mess we are in, or not, as the Brexiters tell us our glory years will be upon us. The europeans dont seem to be begging us to change our minds, which is surprising I had hoped they may have asked us to think again offer us new terms and we do any vote on that. A German client said to me last week 'Why have you left? You have terms that none of the others have.'
  14. I was talking to a friend who went and watched them against Salisbury and whilst they only drew he said they coud have torn Salaibury apart at any time. TCWTB was there openly smoking and the stewards did nothing. Apparently there was a 1200 crowd and Pompey took about 2/3rds of that. A good turn out as I recall Saints in the bad days only having a couple of hundred fans there.
  15. Personally, retail business is worse than during the financial crisis. Friends in other businesses eg Estate Agency, also are finding it pretty dire.
  16. Yep it must be difficult to keep all those incoming deals quiet. Hopefully we have a few underway. To keep deals quiet means you have to have the selling club abd agent gagged, hardly something in their interests I'd have thought
  17. As much as I really dislike Hilary Clinton and her get power at all costs, we need her to win as Trump is pretty scary. Nostradamous I thouhgt warned of an anti crist taking over, something on those lines and i think Trump is the closest to that. There again his daughter could reign over me anytime

I think you are wrong about the Japanese surrender. They decided to go for peace as they feared Russia were going to get involved. http://archive.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2011/08/07/why_did_japan_surrender/ Not conclusive but perhaps puts a different slant on things
  19. that is a fair comment , although do you think the club would have sold him for 30+m had he been on a 6 year contract? Personally I think they would have
  20. It matters to the clubs coffers not the fans.
  21. Must have taken ages to sort that down to a suspect, 'does he own a bell?' No 'Does he own a drum?' No it must be him then
  22. yep, our universe may be just one atom in the leg of a chair, which in turn is an atom in the leg of a chair infinitum
  23. yes i realise that, what i was trying to allude to was that fans think that if we get a player to sign for 5 years he is staying for decent amount of time, but really he is for sale from the minute he signs if the right offer comes along. It is a mutually convenient situation for all
  24. I cant see why people put any credence in a 5 or 6 year contract. You can make them 20 year contracts if you like but it means SFA. All it does is give the player bigger wages, the agents bigger commission and the club millions more if they sell in the meantime. The agents can still go around touting the player and will know if there is and how much the sell on clause is.
  25. yeah but they started doing the transfer negotiations 6 years ago
