I like Rooney but I'm not sure he cares for England, and is not passionate about playing for us. Are his roots Irish?

Has anyone else thought that this kit will give us more of a unique look in the Pl this season. We wont be confused with Stoke or Sunderland (clubs who are far more established in the Pl than us) the worldwide audience would look at red and white stripes and think not of us but the other 2. We are the new boys in the top league. If we became a fraction as successful as Liverpool when they wore a similar kit Iam sure we will be happy. Personally i think the kit is sharp and good looking (except of the bloody logo) IMO the main body of Saints fans will not be quite so wound up about it like the more serious types on here.

there you go, any thought that Taylor s outfit may have to cough up has focused the minds there. All of a sudden the players are not important to him but his salary may be at risk if the deferrals etc land in their hands. I doubt the PFA could handle that debt and i suspect the PFA's lawyers are looking at it closely. The pressure on the players is cranking up and the people who should be on their side are now against them. Pompey will survive, the players will accept the low offers,Bc will be the owner, he will only have to pay 500k to rid the club of £35m (?) debt, all the PP's are safe for them the CVa will be agreed and there will be no further points penalties. Accept it, that is what is playing out and all the toast in the world will not effect things at FP. They have and will get away with it and it is galling.

It is odd that such a bad leader was well loved by his men. i would have thought if he was as bad as some say they would not have been behind him. At the time of the start of the bombing campaign we were on our knees , the countries morale was at an all time low. Hitting back by bombing did lift morale and also made the German people question whether the Allies were finished. it was the days before the internet and information was always difficult to get, hearing on the radio that the allies were finished and then bombs falling from the skies on them, would have made people question their leadership. Harris has always been a scapegoat but as more official documents come to light in time we may learn more.

Darjan Curanovic, thats hell of a score in scrabble. I suspect they are looking to buy /get lots of players with long names so that they can make a bit on printing the names on shirts. They are searching hard to find a player called Borrussia Munchengladbach

All these things need to be looked at in the 'at the time scenario' We were threatened as a nation until the very last knockings of the war. The Germans were technically superior to the Allies in many areas and they were also close to making breakthroughs in the nuclear option. They had the rockets and capabilities of delivering a knock-out weapon. We had to do that was neccessary to conclude the war and without a doubt our ability to read the Enigma codes etc gave the Allies a huge advantage. Some of this information was fed to Russia and so they could also win major battles that changed some of the course of the war , Kurst being one. It was not a foregone conclusion by any means that we were winning, and frankly if it saved 1000 Allied soldiers lives it may have been worht it. The civilian population were part of the German war machine. Politicians were to blame for the whole lot , not the bomber boys. It is to the nations shame that they have felt the lepers of our armed forces and to this day feel almost embarrassed to have been part of the force. At long last they are honoured, far too late but at least some can feel the pride

should I be surprised that this thread has only 4 posts when the new kit one has about 40 pages on the main site. Perhaps my appreciation of the debt we owe to these people is going to fade out with my generation,
-
it could be clever marketing of course, people are talking about it and so it gets exposure , also all those floating fans from Fareham etc might think it is indeed a Liverpool shirt and so buy one lol
-
I very doubt that. The majority of Saints fans will wish to have the home kit when we are at SMS. Not all are the style icons that the intelligentsia are on here

They were alongside submariners and those of the Artic convoys the bravest of the brave. When you think how many of us fear flying on holiday, and what they went through when they were protected by very little and ack ack nightfighters etc attacking them. It is to Churchill and other politicians shame that they were not honoured before. Yes the Dresden bombing may have been a bit much but they followed their orders and it saved many allies lives as it diverted so much from the Russian front.

Has Gary Neville signed for us? Brilliant we need his experience
-
I didn't realise that TB had powers like that to cut wages, how about his own?
-
he is a risk and if he is £6m then !!!! we have seen many young keepers with promise fall from grace. Goalkeepers IMo are at their best later in their careers
-
Wes I dont think I could put my hand up and say that there wouldnt be saints fans who'd think the same if the roles were reversed. That paragraph sums up why I believe they have got away with it. Most clubs fans in all of football except for the top 6 of the PL might take that if they were offered it to have those life experiences. If they had not cheated their kids would never have experienced those days that robbed other clubs fans of the same because they played it correctly. Fair play would be demoted to the Southern League etc and then i would also agrwee that they then had paid the price, until then i will not change my mind.
-
true, lol
-
its ok you are among mates.
-
that would be very difficult to prove. TB would say he was only making people aware of the clubs position and who can be responsible for the action of its customers. They will of course come out and not condone any actions by fans.
-
I think he is a terrier in midfield with a bit of bite, a will to win and has played in the PL.Good signing if true, but I suspect that it was someone who looks like him there are plenty around who look ugly like a rotweiler. Just go to Southsea common and thats just the women
-
those players have had an easy ride so far, wait until the training starts and they have to face the fans one to one. The pressure will be become intense and TB etc know that that pressure will become unbearable as it gets closer to the end. I have no doubt the players will give in as the hate campaign will become pretty fierce. I couldnt say it wouldnt be the same with us. Anyone around in the Branfoot days will know how awful fans can be and that was not about survival
-
Frank he put a smiley at the end and so I suspect it was how he wished it to be
-
So much for toast then. The CVA being passed will mean that the FL can waive any penalties and Pompey can live on still wallowing in their past glories. Many will say they have not got away with it but I believe they have had a whale of a time and taken a small pill. Since watching Saints from the late 60's Pompey were always off the radar except a flirtation with the top league for one season under Bally. So for 40 years years they did SFA, and then they had the overspending and cheating that gave them a wonderful time in the sun and many Wembley trips. They are now back to where they were, but if history is a lesson they are still alive and could rise from the cesspit once again.
-
MLT took the blame at the time but it came in the press afterwards that it was Steve McManaman who did the damage as he had a column in an Italian paper and he was responsible for the leak
-
Dont worry you will get away with it, although fans at other clubs are now waking up to the fact and are starting to resent the club.
-
i thionk Rodney Wallace was the last really decent winger with pace and skill we had. MLT and him had a wonderful understanding and I recall against QPR away and I think Liverpool at the Dell they scored a few by their play together. i was always upset that they were split so early in their careers
-
Its fairly obvious the FL dont wish to do anything that will push them under. Any cynical owner will know that and so uses that to their advantage. I suspect the PFA and FL lawyers are looking at any possibilities they can to evade paying the outstanding wages to the players. 'But the PP will cover that' i hear people cry but as i see it if Pompey go into liquidation any pp will stay with the Pl and leave the PFA and Fl holding the baby
