Come on own up, how long did it take you to work out where to stand?

Just how/why did pre-season turn into such a shambles ?
OldNick replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Leftback obviously has some connection to the club. I wonder if he still is there though, as NC will not take kindly to these posts and Iam certain he will be aware of them. The person will be part of a small group of people who know all these events and will be found pretty quickly. Somebody quite young perhaps. I missed the bit about Corteses wife and sister, can anyone enlighten me to that event. -
Unusually knee jerk by you LeGod.It would be interesting to see with the results that AP had last season how many games Antonio and Waigo played. They were a big difference, and an asset that NA has not at his disposal. NA is not my choice ( Howe was and still would be)but he is our man and so i back him. Watching last night was boring. We shift the ball across the midfield, not sharply but in a pedestrian way. That gives the opposition so much time to re-organise,.Only when Guly was in centre mid and AL was linking with RL and Punch did we look a potent force. in fact the last 10 made me feel we did have some quality and that with a bit of confidence we may improve. It comes to something when you are not confident of beating Bournemouth at home, in 40 + years............

it was a comment not worthy of reply. Davis was sent the wrong way, if he had stayed on his feet the player would have put it either side.It was a well taken pen

we are weaker than at this stage last season. Our squad does not have the pace and un-predictability it had. Barnard and Lambert do not have the pace to run away from a defence and so they can push up, having Antonio at the shoulder etc causes its own set of problems. Antonio is the past but we MUST get similar in to give us the edge. Lambert will start scoring again, but we have to accept this squad now is not going to get us promotion.

A laboured performance. We shift the ball too slowly and whilst methodical there is no zip. AL came on and RL became our centre forward again, he seems to enjoy linking with AL. KD had a poor game for his high standards, looked quite unsettled. Super goal with Morgan doing what he should every game, by driving towards goal and laying off the ball for Guly to beautifully put the ball away. All those fans who dont rate Guly will eat their words. IMO NA made a mistake putting him wide, only after they equalised did he bring him infield and then he was everywhere. Once he adapts to English football he will be a super player for us. We were undone by a long ball and Seaborne who was good made a rash tackle instead of letting their forward take a shot from a bit of an angle. Jaidi was strong although doesnt seem to be able to head straight. Overall we could/should have won a great turn out of fans but the open end made it difficult for the fans to make a noise. Dont park in the away fans car park, we were there an hour trying to get out, add to that the sat nav playing up. KD 4 DH 7 DB 5 DS 6 RJ 7 MS 8 DH 7 JP 7 OC 6 LB 6 RL 7 AL 8 GDP 8.5

As Basil Fawlty would say 'No riff-raff' and I agree keep the rabble out if they can't pay £5, let them go on the UI and enjoy working out how to use that site, it is all a mess to me.

Hypothetical Question about house ownership...
OldNick replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in The Lounge
Are you sure about that, as that is a major loophole for avoiding death duties. Eg a house could be gifted in installments. i can't see that being allowed, and why would there be a maximum gift allowed if that is the case? -
Steve reading that makes you wonder why they took on Lawrence and Kitson. Thats 40k a week alone. I can't see any other business taking this route, perhaps they have got away with it for so long they really do feel they are immune. And Hughes on more than Nugent FFS

oops yes you are of course right but i was thinking this was about saving tax. If it was so easy to avoid tax I doubt there would be thousands of tax accountants looking for ways around the system -

OldNick replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in The Lounge
that is not correct , you can only gift a certain amount each year. Not £100's of thousands as the nation would be doing it. -
you are right PES, I want to be fair but that nagging dislike of the clubs disregard for decency pulls me back. Im sure if it was not your beloved team you would be damning. Selfishly I wish saints had cheated and broken the rules and enjoyed 5 years of having top stars wembley appearances and FA cup wins. Those experiences can never be taken away and that is what i dont understand with the pundits when they say 'the poor suffering supporters'. Those poor suffering supporters were the ones before the crooks came into town, and all the clubs fans who were cheated out of their own days in the sun by your club

you will not get that past the revenue. It is an obvious dodge and they would contest it. -
It would be great if someone got hold of Dave Docker Walker and got him to retell his days.I used to see him in St Mary st and Millbank auctions some years ago and he would talk about those days. It was engrossing and his stories of Shankley Oneill and mcGrath were superb. You could feel the days rolling back as he spoke. I tried to find out where he was a year or so ago, but the old contacts have died or moved on. I think he was in Totton about 5 years ago.

when you watch a game sometimes you can sense when a team is going to fold. From the first minute Leicester were not at the races. As for the clown who handled the ball Lol and then he tried to look as it was a fluke. he should be playing cricket for Pakistan. Lawrence was head and shoulders above the rest on teh pitch. As for Rocha he was lucky not to get sent off, how he could try and convince the ref that his tackle was not unlawful!!!! I turned over at 2-0 and the sending off, the 2nd was a handball deflecting the ball in when it was going wide. The lucky Pompey heather is working again. Kitson didnt look interested the time i watched but i assume he did score. Quite a good crowd as well considering it was friday night and on Sky.

If AA has only cost them 8ook then he was a bargain.A lot better than Fry and co IMO. British justice has been shown as a sham. Liam Lawrence was a very good buy/loan and he will shine in that league.Stoke and Pompey have an odd connection with the club similar to Spurs

I saw an old dear driving a car sometime ago and the number was something like BLO JO8

these tales of my brother or a friend is normally a guise of it actually being the original teller

it would be justice in a strange kind of way. The buying and immediate loan out was always odd

Woolstonbul and Millbrookholm are pleasant I'm told. You have to watch out for pickpockets though. Apparently the jellied hedgehog and squirrel wraps are delicious. My friends visited at night and they said the local youngsters set fire to their cars, it was traditional they were told and then the little rascals threw rocks at the firemen as a greeting.
