  1. I should have put forever. It would be interesting (not possible of course) that once a coalition is formed that their policies then be voted on, as nonoe has voted for the combination we are going to be saddled with. The hunger for power is evident and the small nationalist parties wil be rubbing their hands in expectation, as we the English will be paying a ransome to get their vote. John Reid and Blunkett have come out of all this with honour IMO.As they have stated it as it is. I hope that DC has the common sense to put a halt to all this and cut Clegg adrift. Already the thought of a coalition with the LIbs is causing rifts in the labour party. The Scots labour mp last night said he would not sit down with the SNP, and so Cleggs hand is not as strong as he thinks. Let him jump into the pit of snakes with the lovely sounding rainbow coalition, but Bungle Jane and freddie might end up having a massive fall out. That will leave DC to come to power with a proper working government in 6months time.
  2. I have always wished for saints to have a proper kop end. I doubt the Kop or the Stretford the Holt end would be so intimidating if the away fans were next to them. If you go to a game so you can spend most of the time facing the away fans so you caqn look hard, then you are wasting your money. As an exercise go to another part of the ground and you will see that the away fans diffuse the home fans singing due to thir noise being a barrier. When i have been in the iTchen oyou cant hear the Northam if the away section is large. We have diluted the strenght of our support by our insistance off ahaving to stand next to the away section. A nonsense IMO
  3. On consideration, the PR system i assume would not get tactical voting. The Liberals probaly would have got 10 seats less had that not have happened. The nation has to think this through before dropping something that has been tried and trested for centuries. If we are likely to get more situations like this one, in the first past the post way then I think we do need to change. The danger is that whoever is power will put forward a system the disenfranchises perhaps a third or more of the electorate. To me it is a nonsense that labour needs to get less votes to get a lot more seats and the Liberals get less for more. I do understand their frustration, listening to the journalist from De Bild last night was very interesting. He was quite scathing about PR and said that with the first past the post government the rest of the world knew that what the government said to them they could be confident they could carry it out. Wheras he said that with a coalition it was fudge. He gave the impression that he thought it would be a mistake, in a global sense to our position in the world. All in all it is a copmplex issue that most are not qualified to understand. That is a danger as the masses will not be interested in reading up about the different systems and could be hoodwinked into voting for something they are not sure of. The classic for me is the way Heath through stealth got the nation to vote something in as a trading agreement into the EU. The result may have been different had it been spelt out by the politicians at the time.
  4. Perhaps we have more foresight.Realistically though I think that we see that the nation is on the brink. We have seen the excess of Labour spending and the debt has to be started to be adressed this year and now not next year. What you should really take on board, if times get really hard the weak and poor get hurt most and so it is in their interests that a Tory governemnt gets a grip of this. Labour can only borrow for so long until people lenders say enough is enough and wont lend any more. Then we will spiral. All the money that is spent by the government has to be paid back, and so the longer you put it off the worse it gets
  5. Andy, it depends on who was responsible for it. As i put I didnt enjoy watching miners being used as a political tool. Their leaders wanted to use their membership to try and pervert/oust the elected government of the day. Iam a person who wants social justice but allowing people to gain wealth by hardwork. They then contribute by paying fair taxes (not like Sir Phillip Green , who doesnt pay tax) to help care for the weak. To me the Tories have a lot of middle to left policies eg their NHS schools spending ringfenced. They are business minded and so are better placed in formulating a plan to get us out of an economic mess. When we are righted then Im all for no tax up to 10k a year. That is a fantastic idea and feel Cameron is likely to embrace that

Lol, yep 'i do ' the biggest
  7. Thanks Joe.
  8. I cant recall but before Hitler came to power what was their electoral system? It may have been first past the post I really cant recall.
  9. I will be happy for them to join with Labour. The nation will be sickened and massive damage will be done to both parties. The nation will get hurt but frankly a lot of the voters deserve what they get.
  10. Comedy gold. Have you ever thought about scriptwriting?
  11. What is wong with a trusted system? We are the mother of democracies I have often been told. If you support a small party then PR is a great thing I'm sure. Which system is more likely to bring a real extreme party into power? Could the BNP or an Islamic party have reins to power in some way in a new PR system. i think in Austria the Nazi's have quite a bit of power, something that couldnt happen here
  12. Where has this Progressive thing all of a sudden come from.? Is it something that is new or been around for a long time or just a new politicians new word for 'We want power at all costs. lets make up a name for it to try and fool the electorate' I really have not heard of it until a few days ago, when Campbell and Mandelson started using the word. I didnt notice their hunger for Liberal tendancies (well Mandelson has a few I know but) until sunday

It's about time he changed his name.
  14. Adult compromise LOl We have centuries of a system that has kept us free from dictators and left us stable. PR is just a step into the unknown. I accepted the last 3 election results, even though the incoming government had less votes than Cameron has now, and interestingly I saw this morning that had Brown got the same votes he would have had a 40 seat majority. Same size constituancies seems to be a fairer way. Of course it wont happen as Labour would lose out, and the left would whine again. The horse trading that is going on now is unpaletable IMO and will in time make people sick of it if it is every time after an election
  15. they were bloody great years for me. Seeing Scargill and other militant trades union leaders trying to use their members to bring down governments for their own political ends was great. Seeing miners being foolishly used for this was not so paletable. After living through Red Robbo bringing down Leyland and all of British industry being paraylised by union power, it was a breath of fresh air.
  16. This would be the norm in future as all elections would end up with this horse trading. It is the firstr time in 35 years for us to have been in this situation

SHE ??????, she it was a bloke doing the voice over
  18. The power the Liberals have now is far more disproportionate to their support/votes received. How can this be right, and why PR is such a poor way to have an electorial system. No system is perfect but having the SNP etc saying they will support the govt for XYZ of extra money is jsut deplorable. Im sickened and whilst \i believe a Con/Lib pact would be palatable and would be prepared to accept some of their ideas I think it is time to cut them adrift and let them snuggle up to Labour and Brown who wants to hold onto power until Sept and run as PM until then

their reporter said that ML stayed away in anger as we didnt make the play-offs. I thought it was due to the volcanic ash!!
  20. The home team changing rooms has been modernised and fully kitted out at the start of the season to a fantastic standard. The away changing rooms lol I doubt there will be a clean surface to put your photos out to display
  21. I think we have to wait until after the cup final to see what will happen. If they get a CVA, something that the general media think they will and then they have put two fingers up to the world and won
  22. what a load of shi##
  23. yep if harriet Harman and Mandelson had been more in the media istead of just quotes it would have been another 50 seats to the Tories
  24. Of course Labour have been gagging to do it everytime they have been elected. They didnt complain that even if they had a samller vote than the others they still may have got a lot more seats due to the fact they have strongholds in the urban areas andd so get a bigger amount of seats for the votes given.Hypocrites and only interested now as it suits them.. by the way Brown promised a referendum on Europe we never got it, so dont hold your breath.
