He played for Spurs in the 60's

we sold up and are waiting for an opportunity. It is frustrating waiting but prices are high due to a lack of supply. Very few are coming up and os prices are holding firm. If inflation does take hold and interest rates go up, you may well see things change to the negative. Another reason for houses keeping their value is the buy to lets, people trying to get a decent return on their money are buying these and hoping to get a return

In the public sector perhaps, but if the cuts mean that there is more confidence in our economy more people will spend, more companies will expand and so some of the slack may be taken up.The state cannot employ everyone.
-
Well as the Governor is in charge of the BOE i hope he has more confidence of financiers than Blanchflower.I agree that economists hardly ever agree though. Brown said in the last debate that it was falling. At the time i was sure he was wrong, but thought he should know....but As for Campbell, he is a man who IMO went infront of the Iraq enquiry and lied. Just a clever and cynical user of decent people and knows how to manipulate, aka Mandelson. I fully suspect that one of those 2 wrote Browns speech yesterday, it was os out of character for him....but that is me being cynical

Good things need be said more than once to you dim lefties. Otherwise you will be telling us in a few months time 'See I told you unemployment would go up under the Tories/Lib pact'
-
Yep the start of the countries golden years. Decades of union power had brought Britiain to its knees, the 'British disease' had destroyed so much and our workforce knew things had to change. Thatcher did what had to be done. Scargill and his ilk tried to bring the government of the day down (and nearly did so) to put Labour into power. One thing with the left is that they cannot take defeat, even now the extreme left is trying to destabilise as they haven't got their way. I have taken 3 labour victories on the chin and got on with it. Its about time the left accepted that they have been shunned and get on with it. beofre you go on about jobs lost, remember Brown and Blair destroyed a lot of businesses with their policies. Every regime hs ts casualties...or is it OK for family businesses to go to the wall under labourand their famillies lives ruined? As for the trade union thing, no I have never had that problem as I never have been invovled in any work that required to join

is it groundhog day?
-
No Im not getting confused. People claiming unemployment may be reduced , but people registered unemployed has risen to the highest since 1994. Brown said that umemployment was falling. You are not Alistair Campbell by any chance?? Lol ps have you seen what the Governor of the BOE said about cutting?

Interesting post. low end antiques shops!!Do you know of any Dune? Lol. Auctions are viewed by at least a hundred professionals/experienced buyers. It is not the place to be too adventurous. Those damned tv programmes really dont show the truth of the market. Auctions are a place where they are waiting for fools or inexperienced punters to start to bid. Car boot sales (again be wary) jumble sales , charity shops , or junk shops (not many left)are not a bad place to start. Remember your biggest danger is always your own arrogance/belief you know more than who you are buying from or are competing against you. Many a bad buy has been had by not reckoning the sellers knowledge or honesty

another Brown lie, he said during the leaders debates that unemployment was falling.
-
During the leaders debates Brown said that unemployment was going down. That has now been proved as another lie. Today it was announced that the latest figures show that unemployment is the worst since 1994. Remember this is part of the legacy he left , and no doubt it is still rising. Many will point their finger at the coalition when the figures come out in the next few months. The trend is upward and will take time for that to be reversed

Lol, of course they didn't try thats why they have been talking for 2 days Lollage
-
If the banks waste money it comes out of the shreholders profit. Iam talking tax payers money (I know about LLoyds etc) and making schools and the public sector leaner so job cuts can be minimal. There is no way you don't see waste at your school. If you can't see it then im afraid you have been institutionalised and are also part of bad practice. Be honest and tell us some of the waste you come across?
-
Totally deluded then

The inheritance tax was only going to be upped later in the term, so there is plenty of time. In your lifetime a large majority houses will fall into the category that this will help, not everyone who lives in £1m houses are wealthy I dont think it is selling their souls by not pushing for the married allowance especially if they replace it with the tax threshold up to 10k, that helps all working people and makes it more paletable to find work instead of claiming. Better than crucifying their own with the 10p tax rate Lol

Fair point, but it depends how the question is asked, there might not be a no, but a list of choices.

A bit dramatic Thorpie. Policemen dont come out and sort out problems now. There is no way that Cancer departments will be cut. Anyone here who works in the NHS will be able to recount many stories of complete and stupid waste. That is what needs to be looked at. Silly things can make a difference. Schools can also make savings. When i was at school (early 70's) we had the power crisis. It was drilled into us to switch off lights when we left the classroom, to write to the bottom of the page and on both sides during the paper crisis. That may seem small savings to budgets but if teachers felt that these small inconvieniences to make savings meant they would still have a job it would focus their minds. The public sector have been lazy in looking at these things as in times of glut they forgot the little things. These little things can be done at all government levels, drive past government buildings and see all the lights burning away with nobody in the building. It is of course not the full answer but start at a level all the workers can help with and that will go a long way. Public sector pensions is another area that is not fair to the wider public, and it is not right that I and others will have to work longer to help pay for those unrealistic payments
-
Mike, he is cutting waste not just staff. Im sure you see in your work lots of places where money can be saved, without losing lots of staff. If your department can become more efficient, use less materials and wastage you will be ok. In business you have to look at costs and there is so many bad practices that waste you and I as tax payers money.

He thinks he has been reinstated at FP
-
He has done what is right for his party, as they will get a different voting system. Longterm that is good for his party.
-
So do I. From Camerons speech , he his going to look after the needy frail and old, but the shirkers and leeches will be sorted. I truly hope that the coalition is strong, and a little of the worthy part of the left can join the worthy part of the rights beliefs, and we as a nation can move on stronger.
