  1. IMO he will prove you wrong.Lionel Messi he is not but he will develop into a very good player
  2. o you not think that LM when he left was not dissimilar to when Gh left. We were left rudderless after our hopes had been so high for the future. Alan Ball walked out and then said some terrible things that really upset the fans who adored him. Those things stick, you may be happy to move on, but at that place and time it left scars that I have trouble forgiving.
  3. Daren, I agree LM was a magnificent manager and perhaps as he had attained such heights for us, him leaving cut me so much to the quick I turned bitter about him. As I say i didnt wish this to become a witch hunt either way by starting this thread. He deserves recognition for his achievements when he was here as a manager.I for 1 would welcome the event if it happened. It wouldnt change my mind due to some actions later.
  4. When he left for Man city yes he was no longer a Saints player. When he returned and playing for Man city he got a fair amount of stick from all sections of the ground..When he returned as a player he was adored again. It also is how they conduct themselves after they leave of course, would we view Phillips the same way as Crouchie?
  5. When i was younger and dewey eyed about Saints ANY player who left us was a traitor. Nowadays I have become numb to star/hero's leaving to better pastures and can accept that and realise they do it for betterment. This thread was not aimed to be about LM qualities since he left but my wish that although I dont admire his later actions he should rightfully get awarded for his achievements when he was our manager. If our club is ever to recover fans like myself who hold grudges or negative thoughts against such people should be put aside so we can move on.I am prepared to do so.
  6. Whatever my thoughts on LM, i believe a stand or suite should be named after him, in honour of his achievements pre 1985. Personally I think the day he left for Sunderland was a cut off for me to really adore him as a true Saint. That still does not stop me from appreciating those wonderful days when he was pulling for us and providing us with a club that was thrilling. He deserves that recognition whatever his faults after that time. Is that easier for you?
  7. can you read and digest what I have said? or you thicker than Mr Thick on a dim day. Whatever my thoughts on LM !!!!!!
  8. trouble is there are many players who you could name stands after. What about Ron Davies and my fathers hero Charlie wayman? LM gave us the best footballing days and he should be recognised in that capacity IMO If the new owners (it any) we shoudl also campaign for a proper Saints museum not the half baked nothing happened before RL theme.
  9. That is your opinion and fine.He still walked out on us and I felt let down. Was Askham the chairman at that time? I thought it would have been Woodford, but I could be wrong. If it was Askham shows what a terrible effect he has had on the club in all his time here.He is a Teflon chairman that man. I still think a stand or suite should be named after LM.
  10. Unless we know the circumstances of his contract i think it is unfair to say the club treated him unfairly. We couldnt afford to play him IMO, and yes he did score a few when he first came back into the team, but then went on a very lean spell at the crucial time of the season.

  12. from my standpoint that is good management from Wotte. If they dont like it they may as well p### off. They were part of the failure and Saga didnt look like scoring in the last part of the season.he wants to get a good last payday and if we folded and he was a free agent all the better for him ps If Wotte has the go ahead to do this can it mean that he has had permission from somebody who is taking over to do so? I wonder who that might be...only kidding
  13. Thats what I believe as well. I still would rather he did not have any part to play at present
  14. good job or there will be expletives filling the air everytime you touch the ball
  15. Yes and the owners will still be wearing them
  16. Dont worry you'll get more than 45 minutes
  17. Personally i think your jest about it being put in a Saints museum is a salient one.
  18. i can give you a preview of my pre match team talk. 'Will you lot stop comparing who has the prettiest boots' At half time it will be 'im not talking to you lot as you won't share your Nesquik'
  19. the way its going the game wil be cancelled and have the prettiest boots competition instead. The youngsters of today sheeesh
  20. i did my bit thankyou. If I had in any believed that some of it would be dispersed in fees to get the administrator to sort out a bloody picture in the boardroom I may well not have bothered. Any money spent at present could send the club over the edge, taking the administrators time up is ridiculous about something very unimportant. we are close to foldng and are more worried about a picture than getting our priorities right IMO
  21. well Gordon as you meandered around the shiny new stadium and rightly walked proudly through the turnstile for your first visit, how did you get your Rupert out banner through.I had hell of a job getting my placard through against Burnley the other day. Having done so it must have been hell of a march as you walked shoulder to shoulder to the thousnads of others marching on the Millenium screaming your Swing Lowe songs at all wanted to listen. No of course you didn't as like myself and 99% of saints fans you were enjoying our day in the sun. You see i dont see the whole of RL's tenure as a negative, I never felt comfortable how he came to the club but Im a fickle football fan, I turn a blind eye if things go well. I still felt the scar of GH;s departure and when RL dared consider taking him back I was in uproar. To my elder brother and some of the others who sat with me in the Kingsland (who were happy for his return)I stated 'I'd rather be relegated than have that Judas back' Quite profound really. then we had the manager merry goround.Yes a series of poor selections, but HR should have saved us. Then relegation that cost us our revenue. At that point it should have been the time to stop and take stock of where we went from there, sadly we spent more than we could afford in those conditions. RL mistakenly came back again and so we are now where we are. In summary all things were negative under RL and not all were negative under any of the others but they all contributed to where wev are now, without exception
  22. What if we only have £100 in the coffers and a bill arrives in for £101. He then has to liquidate doesnt he? or accept any offer that can move immediately
  23. It is something we are not privvy to, but the costs of running the Saints must be drawing down on the little we had left. I was always of the view that it would go to the wire but as the hours past with no news i get slightly more concerned at no news of a takeover. Lets hope Dubai Phil who is flying across now has a Arab investor alongside him to buy us up
  24. At least it was girls not the poultry game and stock that your lot were into .
