or what if we used that money on another goal scorer. I dont dislike Saga but do believe he too highly rated by some.he hardly set the world alight, he hasnt at his foreign club and only seemed keen when he was playing for a contract. We dont need people unledss they are hungry to be successful.

It wasnt just from the centre circle he ran right in front of the Leeds fans and then was ejected (Richard Chorley)

I have the greatest respect for LM Saints pre 1985. He was superb...well after the first 18 months, but he like Hoddle walked out on us and i dont forgive that easily. Yes he did put us on the map (although we were already in the 1st division) He managed the cup winning side and took us on some great days away.Branfoot took us to Wembley but I dont see his picture up in the boardroom eaither.Surely WGS should have as much to say about not haviing a picture up. If RL had done and interview and taken a framed picture of hiself along what would have been said then? Iam bitter about LM and him selling his shares, him being Graham Taylors right hand man and overseeing Carlto Palmer and Geaff thomas played for England at the expense of a true Saints legend MLT. If LM comes forward and puts up a large amount of money to save us then superb he's my hero again, but like Hoddle ,Burley, Redknapp, and even WGS they walked and left us in the lurch without a second thought. Im sorry to all those who still see he has done no wrong, but I cannot bring myself to giving him too much adulation as I still remember the day he left for Sunderland.

an uncalled for swipe at somebody trying to be upbeat. It may be a rosy view of things but it is easy to say that if United hadnt scored the 3 they had they would have scored another 3.From where i was sitting they were trying to score a lot more but couldnt. The ref made their day easier after losing his nerve after Ferguson went to the touchline and gave Riley a mouthfull when Pattterson made a tackle early on. Down to 10 men a goal down a disputed penalty made it a non spectacle.

Fair result, it was just the way they were helped on their way. I was disappointed that the crowd was diluted in respect the vocal fans were split in all parts. KD Perry were the standouts. I thought Jan got team selection wrong by playing gobern. The rest all did ok but never really in it.

Did MC offer to put in money as well?

I may add that you and Granty may not think Sol is a top player but i doubt there woud be many who would agree. He is a world known player and if your club had just signed him or chasing him it would be rammed down our throats. It comes to something when fans who have been used to Spam fritters for decades now scoff at steak.

Look you Welshed on the bet.You played the 'we will not be selling anyone else' and you were going to return to the post on jan 31st. To save the trouble I have brought it forward for you. As for L1, it will a new experience as I have watched saints for 40 years and never seen my team play there. You may have seen Pompey play there althoughof course yu might be a Johnnie come lately Pompey fan, there are lots about.

I feel the same way, Jan until the Reading game seemed to have lost the faith of many of the players.
-
Swanny, I can see the sense in what you say. I have become dissenchanted with Jan's decision making and am fully behind the young getting their chance butJan has made some bad decisions that we cannot afford. The for ever changing manager is not good but on this occasion he is not savvy enough.
-
Robbie training does not take place in the boardroom (trainspotting perhaps)
-
That is all obvious. The last lot let the losses mount up to 100's a week and yes we stayed up by the skin of our teeth. We need to stabilise our finances and then try and get stronger. I have always said this season is about staying up. I myself believe we could do so with the young players as long as the manager was cute enough tactically. RL has got to act fairly soon unless results turn very quickly.
-
All guess work.NP was able to bring in 3 experienced loan players.I really dont think we could have brought in someone with RW's wages now.
-
A factor I hadnt thought of. If he starts winning then perhaps people wii have a change of heart.
-
In our present situation Yes.The club was being run on a reckless road to financial ruin. look at our losses month on month. we had to rectify that before then trying to build again. Whoever is in charge has to take strong measures.
-
All good in theory but that would be with a side without any saleable asset. Do you really believe our club that is so fragile could take the lss of 10 points and move on.I dont believe so and will state that if we do you will see us go down into L2.
-
the Pearce thing is not our clubs fault to be fair. Both clubs announced that he was staying here until the 30th of jan and then Reading had a change of heart. Of course you could read that there has been a political falling out between the parties, or that we would not be able to pay up the loan fees as we were going into....
-
They have so far avoided administration. That is more important than most things.
-
I agree that avoiding administratioj is number in priority. Cork played well but was not on our radar 6months ago. There must be other young players out there who will do well if we select well.Pekhart and Robertson were 1 goal wonders (I am saddened for Jordan and the poor person wh was killed in the accident) Robertson looked great against Norwich and then just looked lost after that. The margin between a average CCC player and top non league is not much and with the right coaching the difference can easily be made up.If you get a few PL reserve players then the margins are not there, but just experience is key. I have lost count of my favourite player over the years.I have learnt though 1 goes and soon another pops up.
-
Not at all.I dont think RL gets it right every time, I never have agreed with everything any person in this world has done.On the manager situation i dont think that Jan will cut it.There is a difference to your position where the club gets everything wrong and mine where i judge each situation.
-
As you are aware Im happy for the young players to be played and understand the financial plight, but the need for a tough manager who knows hiw to do well in this league is a must. I will not accept RL letting things ride if jan doesnt get the results on track. i dont care if we beat Man u (well I do but..) the league is paramount, the cup game is about money in.

I thought you might like to be reminded of this post a couple of weeks ago. (quote by Merovian) I'll give you a £50 bet right now the only major player likely to be leaving is Diarra, who we have been playing without for 4-5 games now. in fact this season he has not quite reached last seasons heights, he keeps picking up niggles and injuries. Show me hard facts we have to sell, that is facts that have not come from a jackanory journo. If you can find facts then also include tony adams comments today that we are in fact going to have funds in Jan. We have agreed to sign Belhadji for £3M in January ! But we are skint - remember that, I'll be back Jan 31st to resurrect your post (end of quote) Just a reminder again, can't have you wriggling out of these big statements you make.
-
Not on of your 'big players' of course LOL
-
Billy Davies has been appointed manager at Forest. IMO they will now stay up. That leaves Saints in an awful position as i cant see any other club we can overtake. It was a mistake not to go for him. His desire and will to win will be a big factor. I know many dislike him, but he is one of those that if he is on your side you love him if he is against you he really winds you up. Jan seems a nice man but I cant see him turning us into winners.

I expect it is down to money as much as anything.Watford are paying more and at the same time helping weaken us.Cork would be settled here now and so I dont expect it is anything to do with knowing the Chelsea man ,as he has been away from Chelsea for a season and a half.
