I would suggest the club wanted him off the wage bill and were perplexed as he would not go and happy to sit on his contract. They may not have wished to reward him by playing him and hoped that he may drop his appearance money demands to get games to raise attention of other clubs. As fans have said we dont know the full facts and so only surmise. I would rather he played but I do understand if the club is short of money why they dont.I doubt if he plays he adds many to the attendance but if he contributes to a winning team then that may add to the gate.

It was said that DMG was promised by RL to start games if fit. Many took that to be true and I questioned that many times. So now it has been proved incorrect you have come on to try and rubbish me.I accept your abuse that is fine, if we meet not behind a computer you may think different and not make such claims and be careful not to be so offensive.

I have kept out of this thread until the nonsense you have put up here. Name a keeper in the world who does everything superbly? There isnt one, every keeper, every player ever to have playerd the game has had a weakness, and especially at a club that is around 38th in the country.
-
Derry can you tell me where all of a sudden the bank has told us to play the experienced players.I would not wish to think that you are exaggerating especially as DMG is not a guarenteed starter every game. If so if fans are unhappy that RL is selecting the team they should be more worried if the guy from the halifax advert is

All of a sudden Rudi seems to be the new demi god. He is a half decent player who is onm massive wages and as far as I can see he is yet to make himself a must play even when the appearance money was not so imperitive to the clubs health. He (which is his right) would not leave to the german team or Ipswich on a lower contract or the other side would not agree terms. He is happy to sit on his contract and wait for the club to be in such a position he will be allowed to go for free. Now that is fine, but he is hurting every fan of the club, but as he is seen as a star that seems to be ok with some. The club made a decision to not play him under the current financial restraints (banks or Lowes who knows?). He has now been selected and did ok and has the incentive to do well so he can get another juicy contract from another club whose fans believe he is worth it. Frankly if he had not come to us with such a reputation from Hearts and had a big price tag he would have been booed long ago. I will support him and wish him well in a saints shirt but will never believe he is ever interested in the fans of football club called SFC, he will only be looking after number 1

Alp Rudi is a pro footballer who wants to earn as much as he can from his few years left in football. To do so he has to leave, therefore his incentive is to play well and shine so to make other clubs come in for him. That is enough, he has been given his chance and it seems he did ok but however you treat him he will want to go.
-
It is a bit of both. He has been left out in the cold and now has a chance to shine.Do not confuse the fact that he played with him wanting to leave us twice only to be thwarted by monetary considerations. If it means good displays will give him the opportunity to leave he will do so. I beleive the club and he wishes for that to happen.
-
Its good to see you are prepared to admit you are wrong sometimes Alpine. The club seem to have accepted we need to play Rudi even though he costs a lot of money each game. It has been pointed out on here the attendances will only slightly recover with better results, and also put him in the shop window at the same time.
-
but as it was supposed to be in McGoldricks contract 'he must play' we couldnt legally drop him. So where does that leave us with that rumour?
-
SR, GH couldnt work with RL's strange ideas, are you for real? GH was one of the first to use people like that mad woman. WGS said in his press conference when he came to the club that he would only stay 3 years only as he had promised his wife . He I beleive is someone who holds to his word and so that is why he left. When Chris Kamara broke the news that WGS was leaving that is when our results went south. We have many faults at the club and so the sooner the whole lot are swept away the better but one man going would not change all the bad that has gone on, remember Askham and co. As for HR being a good maanger I backed him but he is looking so good as he has mountains of money to spend on quality players. Had he stayed here unless we had a billionaire behind him the clubs spending would have bene little different. HR was given over half the season to keep us up, and failed to do so, ehe and the players were responsible for that. When he arrived we were not in the bottom 3 and I find it interesting he failed to sign many players when he was under proper financial management.

No im not a fantastic fan I just follow my club to home games and the odd away game. The true fans are the ones who travel up and down the country supporting us through thick and thin. It seems I have built up a lot of resentment as i dont hate RL or want to bash the club at every opportunity.

There is a ignore button and so you can use that. For all your other 6 posts Im sure they have been constructive.

Now if you had put it that way i may have had more time for the post. Yes I agree make a successful side, get mopre profit pay out dividends everyone is a winner.Say that he is only interested in paying dividends period and then I wont agree,

Obama is just a trendy lets try a different approach like Blair. He has used the 'leave Iraq Afganistan' card. To me that is madness that the generations in the future will find to their cost. Iraq is on its way to becoming a safer place, the moment you withdraw those troops and it will turn into an unstable disaster zone.It is not fashionable to say it but it is correct IMO I like Obama in many ways and think that to have a black president is tremendous, and for all those who think USA are full of crackpot rascists, hand on heart how much chance would a polital party in the UK elect a leader called Obama, or a black man. Even the good old labour party dont wheel them out, and they are supposedly the voice of the working people.

Left wing clap trap. If you invested into something you are rightfully expecting a return, (Iam not a shareholder) therefore the chairmans job is to try and get people to buy the product and then from the profits a return is given to the shareholders. There are many people who have shares costing them £1000's of pounds and rightfully deserve something back, afterall they could put it in a buildoing society and get 3-6% on it and so if they invest in Saints they should get at least that back or why do it? Would you give a company £1000 and not expect a dividend?

Well what do I need to understand. The fact is fans have been falling away under RL's stewardship and under the Wilde bunch. The club could have sold 50k plus for the Cup final, we sold out regularily in the Pl . Please tell me why it was different to go to games when we were in the PL to now? Had the reverse takeover happened and was RL then the chairman? I really can't see a difference to then and now, if the reverse takeover was as bad as some say ,then why did those fans still attend any Saints games from that day. Can you not see that? I know you have follwed Saints and we have had other discussions on this and I was pleased that i think you said you were still going to games but it seems illogical that the principle becomes more important now we are in the CCC

If that pricing is correct then it shows what a terrible financial mess we have got into.I dont beleieve that if the tickets were £10 we would get lots more fans to make up for the halving of prices. Its fine now for clubs like Charlton or Norwich but knowing the fans from here if the tickets were £10 and we got PL next season they bloody wouldnt accept the price trebling and we would have the same old moans of the club ripping us off. The other clubs are askig for financial suicide if they keep their prices at that level, as I noticed Charlton were not filled up even at that rate.
-
Im with you on this, if he only will go if it is free what good is he to the finacial health of the club. I dont want to go down the road of saying that there should be no freebies as that caused a lot of unneccessary grief last time but we need all hands on the pumps.
-
I dont think we would be in any better position with NP as he would have had basically the same funds to work with, but that is only opinion of course.
-
I think that is most pertinent and correct. I have a lot of time for people with principles as long as those principles have been consistant Sadly most of the fans deserting the club have principles that have only surfaced since relegation. Afterall Rl was at the club 10 years and only in the last 4 have fans all of a sudden found these principles that they adhere to whatever
-
you would as you gave up some time ago. I would understand JS and respect his and yours more if you both had the same principles when we were playing in the PL and Europe. Did either of you go to Cardiff for the cup final? because if you did your stand now is hypocritical as Rupert Lowe was our chairman then and the reverse takeover had happened. If it is success you crave and that will get you to go again say it, but it is tiring listening to the same old lame excuses why you dont go, as RL has been at the club 10 years and so if you stepped into the stadium at any time up to then the arguement is flawed IMHO

All very fair and much I agree with
-
I can see that is true, but fans also take on board what people say. We can help break down the negativity by being more positive about the football when speaking to the waverers, if we reinforce the negatives they are more likely not to go. I agree the football has not been scintillating but it has been very attractive at times, but at the end of the day people want to be associated to success and unless we go on a winning run it will be difficult to bring the fans back
-
Fans should remember that the club will be here after RL or anyone else, but for that to happen they have to rally behind the club now at the moment of greatest need. All those fans who have banged on about RL taking money etc etc etc have in their own little way helped in the fans drift away. Some will say that they have no bearing on it, but IMO the fans who spend time on here in the main make saints a major part of their lives and are the fans who the first thing they are asked about when they go to pubs or clubs is about the situation. I can say that happens to me, whether socially or at business. So the thoughts our transmitted to the wider fanbase and many of the part time fans take on these thoughts whether they should go or not.If they are told 'its c### and it's like watching the reserves but at top money' many will think I'll not bother wheras if we were more positive and perhaps gave the opinion of 'its great to watch the youngsters grow and we are playing good football' some may think yes lets go along. It may be too simple but it does have a small ripple effect. This site is a good example, the constant negativity has made a lot of the average fans find other places to put their views up and now dont log on or just dont bother reading it anymore as it is depressing.
-
to rely on away fans to bolster the gate is no good. Although the money does go into our coffers. The whole club needs an injection of hope and enthusiasm to take us forward. A decent win will help but with a young team you always get stop start and so you never know which team is likely to turn up. Watford are the type of team that we all worry that our young players might not cope with.I hope they can stand up and be counted and their undoubted team spirit will bring them through
