  1. no penalty Cuny
  2. Well, tbh he probably doesn't speak to them so he can only assume that they will keep supporting us. Corteze has come out and said that they will and he would know better than Alan. Pay of no mind.
  3. Ah, of course. You would have. Care to elaborate? You need a second my friend. Anyone else?
  4. No she's not. She's a plastic. Soon as we got relegated she suddenly became a Chelski fan. Two faced *****. She's not welcome in Millbrook any more. David Calder's a Saints Fan, (Roy Evens from Eastenders)
  5. So, that's three people between Toadhall and I that have actually had dealings with him, and didn't find him a tosser based on their personal experience, as opposed to many many people who haven't met him, who think he is a knob, based on baseless rumours and inuendo. Well, he must be a knob then.
  6. Well, lets all meet up and I'LL tell you that Corteze isn't an arrogant ****. I think that he is too hands off, doesn't like to work in the eye of the media, keeps all the little tatletails at SMS out of the loop and is trying hard to make us a sustainable, on going concern that remains attractive to the new boss. I have met someone who has met HIM, professionally, and I am happy to use their assesment of him to help form my own opinion. The person I am talking about is my own companies CEO who could be compared to Corteze in many respects: Young, eager, aloof, in an industry they have not any background in, (Corteze banker in football, My matey Marketing in Construction and Faculties Management), metored by an old Mitagi/Mr Han type relationship by an older more experience gentlemen. From his assesment I can see what NC is up to. It wont play well with some, and there will be snipers, but the ultimate target is in the best interest of the MAJORITY. NC Can't feather his own nest whilst Rome burns, it's not his nest. He cannot do everything and research every option, that is what his staff is about. Was it his idea to scrap theb installment plan? was it his idea the booking fee? What about the banning of the photographers? it wouldn't surprise me if there were a number of people involved in the idea, the decision making and he just did the final sign off. Yesterday I learnt of David Bick the Media Consultant. Is this a posh way of saying he fixes conputers, or porovides stationary, or does he provide us with an assesment and strategy for THE MEDIA? I wonder what his assesment of the Photographers ban is?
  7. Well, that's not very nice is it? Thanks for that. Please explain why you think it would be a bad idea and thanks for berating me for mis-spelling Markus, I will endeavour, in the future, to change my spell checker on my blasted Ipaq. And thanks for the personal attack on here and not on the Markus tribute thread. It's always good for people to follow instructions. Like you did. And you like the statue idea then, but not by me. That is good.
  8. That is a good question, How do we know? Most billionaire in the public eye must have a public persona, so how do we know that Marcus really wasn't hard nosed? In all that, how do we know Duncan Bannatyne isn't a pussy cat? Or Alan Suger is a push over? We don't. All we know is what we see and the gut feeling we get.
  9. All. I mentioned that we should leave the Marcus tribute thread as a tribute and start one for questions, theories, disagreements, discussions on what a wnger Puncheon is (or not) etc. So here it is. I'll start. Hearing the Watch story, do you really think someone like Marcus would be friends with the kind of person Nicola is made out to be? Or have some of us got Nicola wrong? Also who is the: 'To Echo.....DO NOT put a picture of the "photo opportunity" councillor, idiot, at this service either before or afterwards.' that Lone Ranger refers to on the Echo site? (http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8337888.Hundreds_turn_out_for_Markus__memorial) And finally, Do you think my Statue Idea has any merit?
  10. I asked for someone to give a blow by blow and many thanks to all here who delivered. I do dearly wish I could have gone to pay my respects to Marcus and as this is the local church to where I grew up and also I attend it at Christmas midnight mass with the family, so it is also very poiniont and moving for me personally. But at least I can image it in my minds eye and envision what the service was like. Many thanks to Wes who brought it home to me, to Itchen dan for the speach, Landford, Bean counter and beatle on their personal experiences of the event as well. Also I think Glasgow for his link to that tribute, and Matt Le God for what I think is the best tribute, thanks Mates. It all brought a tear to my eye and I feel deeply moved, I am still at work and waited for everyone to leave before logging on. Didn't know how I would take it, really and I don't know why. Probably because he comes across as a really nice, humble simple man who I wish I had known personally. I will always be thankful for what he did. I do ask, lets start another thread, shall we, for all the questions, queries, disagreements and discussions around what happened today, and leave this one soley as a tribute to Marcus. Also, I would like to see another statue at St. Marys. The other side of the Forecourt from Ted, of Marcus stood up waving wearing his saints scarf, in the pose that we all remember at the JPT, (and, if you're not sure which one, look at LA77's Avatar). What do you reckon? I think a fitting tribute.
  11. This x2
  12. Can I also say that: a) If you don't get the Sun, does it matter if you agree with a boycott of the Sun b) If you don't buy the Sun and agree with their decision shouldn't you now buy the Sun c) If you disagree with Nicola's decision, should you not refer to him as the South Coast Club Chairmen b) If you think we will lose revenue from our shirt spoonsor, shouldn't you look at the front of our shirts 5) If you believe that we will lose games because of this shouldn't you be back by now as the nurses are probably looking for you H) If you are, should you not, then Cosmic Healing, backwards
  13. And that reminds me. The Times on-line and the Sun ARE both charging for on-line access to their news that is in their newspapers, whereas site like the Guardians afre still free.......Think of the advertising revenue there lose, oh the shock, the horror............. Hipocratic muppets.
  14. Sorry buy I have to disagree with this on one point. We did have 5 lines and we'll go back to 5 lines but at the moment we have 500 lines. As the great man once said, (I think it was either Barnum or Hearst) There is no such think as BAD publicity, just publicity.
  15. Got to agree with Alps. I really don't believe they would sell. First it wouldn't make good business sense. When we are in the Prem we would be a more inviting proposition, and they would make a good times more. Also, as Alps points out, they are more of a conservative culture and are happy with the small acorns into oak trees way of developing an asset. Thirdly, with regard to it being a Marcus' baby, based on experience, a child close to a parent is MORE driven to fulfilment of the Parents dream than the original parent. Marcus could have changed his mind, or decided that he was happy where we are, or he couldn't devote time to us anymore and that wasn't fair on us so pass us to soemone who could, but, guessing here only and no basis on her, Katherine would bend over backwards to see Marcus' dream come to fruition. And not just us, also for the Mali group as well. Also with regard to the Liebherrs being hand off, they are of the business class that enploys the expertise to do the job, so that they don't have to. They just to have an oversight brief.
  16. No, there are some new signings due soon. When I don't know as I have just made it up, but they are coming. NC has decided that Pardew needs more players, my source at Saints didn't tell me as I don't have one, so is allowing him more freedom to purchase more players. The type of players he is going for are the sort that wouldn't play in League 1 and also some foreign purchases of the sort of players that wouldn't want to move country. in other news my sources tell me a bear is catholic and the pope s*its in the woods
  17. Well done Wessex for being the bigger man. Still don't agree but as I mentioned i am biased, but I do respect your decision.
  18. Keith, Surprised no one has answered this. The utility I use is called AVS Video Converter and is available from http://www.avs4you.com. It'll convert it to MP4 for the Ipod, either Full video or just the Audio, or convert it to .avi as an audio file.
  19. I'm just amazed that there are some who degrade what the troops do, and don't understand why they do it. Did YOU support that bunch of lazy overpaid, primadonna Twots during the world cup? Did you? There. Pride in ones nation. Some want to support it, others to serve it. And, as for thicko's......................................... FIREMEN: How many of them started out with a rifle in their hands POLICEMEN: How many were in green before being in blue NURSES: How many were flying with angels before becoming angles Professors of Particle Physics - How many volenteer to be a Gunner in the marines Dozy old Project managers on construction jobs - How many work (medium) hard to keep your roads going and build flood defence works started out covered in mud directing Armoured plant. Doctors,Lawyers, Engineers, Plumbers, Brickies, Groundworks Formen, Tarmackers, Computer Engineers, Taxi Drivers, Store owners, Copywriters, Journalists, Politicians, Hair Dressers, Dentists. All of them people I have met who started out in the Armed Forces. Thickies? I don't think so.
  20. Do you know what? I don't sit in awe at what Davey is doing, because I have done it. I sit in awe because he is still there doing it, and has devoted his life to the defence of ours, (and I may be a little bit selfish that I am not in the military any more.I know my family are) I sit mostly behind a desk now but still remember what it was like. Yes, they may choose to do this job, but in todays day and age it is more than a job, it is a calling. There are also other members who do this as a part time job and give up their safe and highly paid jobs to go and act as support personel, such as nurses, doctor etc. They do it so that WE don't have to. They do not choose to go, they are sent. And some of them, including a few friends of mine, pay the ultimate price. I make mistakes now, like most of us, and clients and companies lose money, they make msitakes and people lose lives. They don't have the protection of the law such as Firemen and police as recent evidence in the high court shows, they are not protected by H&S legislation, by the Human Rights Act or are they allowed to strike. Since the days of my Grand Father the British Army hasn't been the most well supplied, (I still have the Silca primatic compass I 'aquired' from a Swiss officer,(I did intend to give it back, honest) and remember playing poker with Yanks on Joint Trainig exes' for MRE's.) But we expect our armed forces to still do a job, and they do it better than any armed forces around the world, on the meager outdated little they do get. And now the government want them to do it on less. I said I was biased, and I am. But are they not worth a free ticket here or there as a small gesture of appreciation.
  21. I am mightily **** ed of with all of you on here using the term, 'PIKEY'. I have told you before how disgusted I am that this term is still being used, especially in regard to those from Portsmouth. The use of the term 'PIKEY' must stop NOW. We are, mostly, from Hampshire. The term 'PIKEY' is a London Term. In future please call them what they are, either 'Cackers' or 'Didycois'. GET IT RIGHT.
  22. I could have gone if it was next week, but stuck in Dagenham. Most appropriate choice of Church, I think and it will be packed, i reckon. Anyone who goes, any chance of a blow by blow, as I know i'll be there in spirit.
  23. Just a quick view. As I saind, NOT scientific as it is only based on those around me that I have access too. But I find it strange that you don't support this? We in the construction industry normally end up with them after they have left the military, (in a lot of cases as Safety Advisors). I am of course biased and remove myself from making any judgement on those here, as I would agree to them being given what little tokens of appreciation we can. They, as I did, go where their told, and do what they are told by Politicians who only have their expensis to worry about. My point, as added in my edit above, is that we kill and maim more in construction, I believe, than have been killed this year in conflict and yet the feeling is that they are still deserving of preferencial treatment. All in my, and the workforce's here, honest opinion, which stops here.
  24. Let me see now. I served my country with distinction, and I am now in Construction. Based on a survey of 89 people in construction that are under my direct control, the results are: If, as an industry we would be entitled to free tickets for sporting events, do you believe we should Give free Tickets to service Personnel : 77 % Don't Give free Tickets to service Personnel : 11 % Keep them for ourselves : 10 % Undecided : 2 % Not scientific I know, but the lads who work next to highspeed traffic with nothing but a 1m lump of plastic between them and certain death vote to give theirs away. Hardly scientific, but if we are entitled to free tickets Oh, and we kill and maim more in a year than the armed forces, and still think they are deserving of it.
  25. Arn't all games 'Must Win'?
