  1. And that reminds me. The Times on-line and the Sun ARE both charging for on-line access to their news that is in their newspapers, whereas site like the Guardians afre still free.......Think of the advertising revenue there lose, oh the shock, the horror............. Hipocratic muppets.
  2. Sorry buy I have to disagree with this on one point. We did have 5 lines and we'll go back to 5 lines but at the moment we have 500 lines. As the great man once said, (I think it was either Barnum or Hearst) There is no such think as BAD publicity, just publicity.
  3. Got to agree with Alps. I really don't believe they would sell. First it wouldn't make good business sense. When we are in the Prem we would be a more inviting proposition, and they would make a good times more. Also, as Alps points out, they are more of a conservative culture and are happy with the small acorns into oak trees way of developing an asset. Thirdly, with regard to it being a Marcus' baby, based on experience, a child close to a parent is MORE driven to fulfilment of the Parents dream than the original parent. Marcus could have changed his mind, or decided that he was happy where we are, or he couldn't devote time to us anymore and that wasn't fair on us so pass us to soemone who could, but, guessing here only and no basis on her, Katherine would bend over backwards to see Marcus' dream come to fruition. And not just us, also for the Mali group as well. Also with regard to the Liebherrs being hand off, they are of the business class that enploys the expertise to do the job, so that they don't have to. They just to have an oversight brief.
  4. No, there are some new signings due soon. When I don't know as I have just made it up, but they are coming. NC has decided that Pardew needs more players, my source at Saints didn't tell me as I don't have one, so is allowing him more freedom to purchase more players. The type of players he is going for are the sort that wouldn't play in League 1 and also some foreign purchases of the sort of players that wouldn't want to move country. in other news my sources tell me a bear is catholic and the pope s*its in the woods
  5. Well done Wessex for being the bigger man. Still don't agree but as I mentioned i am biased, but I do respect your decision.
  6. Keith, Surprised no one has answered this. The utility I use is called AVS Video Converter and is available from http://www.avs4you.com. It'll convert it to MP4 for the Ipod, either Full video or just the Audio, or convert it to .avi as an audio file.
  7. I'm just amazed that there are some who degrade what the troops do, and don't understand why they do it. Did YOU support that bunch of lazy overpaid, primadonna Twots during the world cup? Did you? There. Pride in ones nation. Some want to support it, others to serve it. And, as for thicko's......................................... FIREMEN: How many of them started out with a rifle in their hands POLICEMEN: How many were in green before being in blue NURSES: How many were flying with angels before becoming angles Professors of Particle Physics - How many volenteer to be a Gunner in the marines Dozy old Project managers on construction jobs - How many work (medium) hard to keep your roads going and build flood defence works started out covered in mud directing Armoured plant. Doctors,Lawyers, Engineers, Plumbers, Brickies, Groundworks Formen, Tarmackers, Computer Engineers, Taxi Drivers, Store owners, Copywriters, Journalists, Politicians, Hair Dressers, Dentists. All of them people I have met who started out in the Armed Forces. Thickies? I don't think so.
  8. Do you know what? I don't sit in awe at what Davey is doing, because I have done it. I sit in awe because he is still there doing it, and has devoted his life to the defence of ours, (and I may be a little bit selfish that I am not in the military any more.I know my family are) I sit mostly behind a desk now but still remember what it was like. Yes, they may choose to do this job, but in todays day and age it is more than a job, it is a calling. There are also other members who do this as a part time job and give up their safe and highly paid jobs to go and act as support personel, such as nurses, doctor etc. They do it so that WE don't have to. They do not choose to go, they are sent. And some of them, including a few friends of mine, pay the ultimate price. I make mistakes now, like most of us, and clients and companies lose money, they make msitakes and people lose lives. They don't have the protection of the law such as Firemen and police as recent evidence in the high court shows, they are not protected by H&S legislation, by the Human Rights Act or are they allowed to strike. Since the days of my Grand Father the British Army hasn't been the most well supplied, (I still have the Silca primatic compass I 'aquired' from a Swiss officer,(I did intend to give it back, honest) and remember playing poker with Yanks on Joint Trainig exes' for MRE's.) But we expect our armed forces to still do a job, and they do it better than any armed forces around the world, on the meager outdated little they do get. And now the government want them to do it on less. I said I was biased, and I am. But are they not worth a free ticket here or there as a small gesture of appreciation.
  9. I am mightily **** ed of with all of you on here using the term, 'PIKEY'. I have told you before how disgusted I am that this term is still being used, especially in regard to those from Portsmouth. The use of the term 'PIKEY' must stop NOW. We are, mostly, from Hampshire. The term 'PIKEY' is a London Term. In future please call them what they are, either 'Cackers' or 'Didycois'. GET IT RIGHT.
  10. I could have gone if it was next week, but stuck in Dagenham. Most appropriate choice of Church, I think and it will be packed, i reckon. Anyone who goes, any chance of a blow by blow, as I know i'll be there in spirit.
  11. Just a quick view. As I saind, NOT scientific as it is only based on those around me that I have access too. But I find it strange that you don't support this? We in the construction industry normally end up with them after they have left the military, (in a lot of cases as Safety Advisors). I am of course biased and remove myself from making any judgement on those here, as I would agree to them being given what little tokens of appreciation we can. They, as I did, go where their told, and do what they are told by Politicians who only have their expensis to worry about. My point, as added in my edit above, is that we kill and maim more in construction, I believe, than have been killed this year in conflict and yet the feeling is that they are still deserving of preferencial treatment. All in my, and the workforce's here, honest opinion, which stops here.
  12. Let me see now. I served my country with distinction, and I am now in Construction. Based on a survey of 89 people in construction that are under my direct control, the results are: If, as an industry we would be entitled to free tickets for sporting events, do you believe we should Give free Tickets to service Personnel : 77 % Don't Give free Tickets to service Personnel : 11 % Keep them for ourselves : 10 % Undecided : 2 % Not scientific I know, but the lads who work next to highspeed traffic with nothing but a 1m lump of plastic between them and certain death vote to give theirs away. Hardly scientific, but if we are entitled to free tickets Oh, and we kill and maim more in a year than the armed forces, and still think they are deserving of it.
  13. Arn't all games 'Must Win'?
  14. Yep.I regretted it as soon as I posted to be honest. I was shocked and quite taken aback, (I am also being Corporatly audited, which doesn't help). I think I was just trying to let people out there know that we don't have to worry about the club. Also, I would like to add that another Saint went marching in last night. Thanks to DBM for his apology, and DSM for editing my post, and stopping me coming across as a heartless twot. I hadn't realised my membership wasn't self renewing, so I couldn't edit it myself.
  15. Scary as it may sound, I am starting to like you Alps. Either you're mellowing or I'm becoming a misable bastard in my old age. And I would be Honoured as it is a Great idea. WIFM
  16. I can tell you exactly what happens next. Marcus legacy will be passed to whom ever is in his will as the benificiary. They will look at us and ask if we are a decent going concern. They will see a decent club, with a solid 5 year plan, of whihc we are in year 2, with decent revenue streams and a good chance of giving back a decent revenue return in the future. They will speak to NC and see what his vision is and if he can prove what he says. They will then (ahem) decide NOT to sell us as we are worth more beign developed than sold of for our component parts. We will still have a club to support, with plenty cash to back us up AS LONG as we show we will give a good return. Just image this. NC will have to do a Dragons Den run with the board and hope none of them say ' I'm out'.
  17. Marcus, all my best and many thansk for everything you did. Not just for the club I love but for the other things you have done for industry. He's hoping you're enduing legacy can live on. Rest in Piece Condolences to the family.
  18. Or how about if you support the Sun and the Echo, but don't buy either, you start buying them from now on!!!!!!!!
  19. Or be brave enough, a maverick if you will, to pioneer something that everyone will be doing in a few years. After all, who introduced shirt sponsorship?
  20. hang on a minute. So by banning photographers from the SMS we are stopping the advertsing in the press of a sponsor on our shirts that we ahven't got anyway because we don't need one. Okay.
  21. Case in point. Four years ago and Contracts manager left us and took 8 highly paid members of staff to work for a local south coast outfit. The said outfit was then bought by a BIG international construction company. Of the 8 staff that left to go there, 6 were laid off, the 7th transfered to the the Big Parent and the 8th has just come back to work for us, (as my boss of all things). Never stops moaning about how it all changed and how **** it was even though: a) He left to go there of his own volition b) for **** loads of money c) he's come back into a better position that he had when he was here first, or that he would ave been promoted into in the time d) He don't work for them any more. Remember, the sqeekiest wheel gets the grease. we only hear the moans of the two disgruntled employees, not the silent contentment of the two thousand. philosopher in a former life Even I have missed my calling as a writer of greeting cards, or I was a Chinease Philosopher in a former life
  22. I take on board what you are saying, and can see the merit in your argument. BUT When we DO get to the Premiership and we say to them they can only buy our offical sanctioned photos which is best? Option a) We only introduce it when we get to the premiership and cause us a lot more pain and anger, especially as they say that we are a big headed little team and look at the big 4 who DON'T do it Or Option b) When they winge we say, 'Hey. this is what we have always done.Been doing it for 3/4/5 years now' And maybe find that the big 4 are already doing it.
  23. Yeh, but it's not like we can't afford it. Markus will just not be able to buy another Ivory back scratcher
  24. well, I'm gasped out. I've never spent a whole match with you lot. You're all bloody mad!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't change it for the world. GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. get in there. cahmberwnaber-owonopaperr by the sea put s one away. 'Here ya go, Lad.' 'Wow, thanks Mr Lambo. really, a goal for me?For real? Thanks Mr Lambo. You really are swell.' 'Call me Rickie, son, everybody does. And anything to **** off those Borneo twits and to shut up that f ing Alpine the f up'
