  1. Just goes to show how poor fans collective judgement is when it comes to football management matters. Was Lowe guilty the first time? Well he was a big contributing factor to our relegation but let's not forget we had major injury problems as well. Could we have pulled away from relegation with the appointment of Redknapp? I think so if he had been given full support and left to get on with the job without the left field interference. Was Wilde at fault for what followed? Well to a certain extent, yes. He came in on an investment whim and with no experience. He was out of his depth with no money. Was Crouch the answer? Well he was the supporters "friend" but I always felt his judgment was swayed by that mantle and an ever hope of the mythical investment white charger. Is Lowe and Wilde the answer? Well I can see the reason for them coming back and I have always appreciated they were going to be focused on finances rather that what the supporters wanted and I have some sympathy with their position but they have been divisive, they have gambled with their appointments and we are heading for the drop which will seal their incompetence. BUT, if we avoid both relegation and Administration and have something to build on for the future I would deem it a satisfactory return OR maybe my judgement is the one that is poor.
  2. Skacel wages are more than he is worth. Skacel will not take a cut to go elsewhere (and why should he as he has another year and a half on his present contract) He knows if he does not get something to suit him we will likely find a place for his experience in the team. As he is on a win win situation I concluded he would not be going.
  3. I said a while back Lallana & Surman were staying. LongShot will owe me a fiver after 5pm And I also said Skacel would not find a club. Looks like that was correct as well.
  4. I expect the pitch was covered overnight so they can sweep it off. More snow expected but not that much. As at now I would expect the game to go ahead but would be happy if it is postponed as I cannot go tomorrow.
  5. Those that are anti will find fault with everything, those that are pro will defend everything. The majority who are unhappy with the situation but hold a more balanced view will agree the comment was not wise, shrug their shoulders and move on. What happens on the field of play, tactics and results are what is more of an interest to the majority not the spin behind it from all sides. That is my thoughts on the subject.
  6. Forget the spin, this demonstration was a success. Why? Because the numbers were more than were expected, because it was peaceful, because it gained the media recognition and because it sends a message. This was not the "lunatic fringe", this was a cross representation of Saints Fans who love their club. Lowe and Wilde take notice. Acknowledge this group and let's have a response.
  7. Yes, very poor decision
  8. That was the line up and positions. I was told the formation before the game and told Derry who posts on here.
  9. At 8pm last night I received a call from a friend who said a Reading insider confirmed he was in talks with them. I doubt he wold have played today if he was.
  10. If anyone wants to know the formation this was the instruction from Wotte: Back 4 speaks for itself, Wotton in front of them, Surman and Gillet in midfield, Lallana in the hole and McGoldrick and Saganowski up front. Comment before the game from the person who told me this, "we will be playing a narrow game" And so it came to pass. All played their part well. Gillett was everywhere although a couple of poor passes late on. Surman 's game came to life when he had to move to left back. Great through ball for Saga's second. Euell did very well when he came on. Wotton was superb "Size" was the good old fashioned no nonsense centre half we have been missing of late Overall, they were all M.O.M You had to be there to appreciate the work rate. I am told the players moral is high, happy with Wotte, who is a hard man.
  11. Good game. Saints full of heart, chased and challenged for the full 90+ minutes and deserved their point. Full moneys worth for me.
  12. If that was the stumbling block, it is only my opinion putting things together, then I agree it might have been false economy and conflicts with what Cowen said. Some on this thread have said his attitude was good when he was out of the team. That conflicts with what I was told but I cannot blame him for that. I am sure it was part of Lowes plan to give a big helping hand to the high earners in the hope they would go. He failed and that tells us a lot about his lack of man management, as if we did not know already.
  13. Should get to the ground about 2:30pm so I will have probably missed it.
  14. Peaceful demonstrations are the cornerstone of democracy. Be safe, avoid disrupting those on lawful business or visit, listen to police advice and act accordingly. An opportunity of sending an important message, don't mess it up. Good luck.
  15. Bloody hell, you are out of touch aren't you. Safri went....John is out of contract at the end of the season, Thomas has a long term injury
  16. Hope all goes well Mark.
  17. Just to try to put the record straight on Skacel earnings. He was not on £16,000 a week but nearer to half that. One of the problems was that he was on £1,000 a game appearance bonus. Was he any good? Not up to our expectations but an OK player in the Championship. Was he worth his wages and appearance money? Not in my opinion. Was he badly treated by the club? Most certainly. Will he go? I doubt it. Who would want to pay his wage demands?

    Wilde

Wilde lost the trust of those who supported him, affirmed the lack of trust some had of him when he first appeared on the scene. Those who were not sure have no doubt fallen into the non trust camp. Yes he appears universally mistrusted by supporters.
  19. Good pick. I would leave McLaggon on the bench though. We need to introduce him carefully and selectively. So I would put Euell on the right and Lallana in the middle. Surman on the left is not his best position but he might be a bit more disciplined than the others to remain out wide and support Molyneau
  20. No one will want him....he stays.
  21. I am prepared to give Wotte a chance now he has been appointed as Head Coach and he is certainly spinning his way this week. Will we avoid relegation? I doubt it. I think the damage has already been done. Our next two home games might give us a clue.
  22. In my early days, late 60's, we all packed to Milton Road End and the away support was at the Archers Road. There was a fantastic atmosphere, particularly when there was a heavy away support. Admit at that time it was mostly terrace standing which does make a difference and we often had 25,000 - 30,000 in the ground. Nowhere near the same atmosphere now.
  23. I take issue with the Rasiak/Skacel loans being a deliberate attempt to reduce the wage bill. Rasiak was looking to move to enhance his chances of being included in the Poland Squad for the Europeans. Bolton came in with a loan offer we could not refuse according to Hoos. They were not actively looking to ship him out from the way it looks. Hoos asked Skacel if he was happy with Saints and he confirmed he was. Hoos then said he was disapointed Skacel changed his mind and asked for the loan move. However Davies was already on loan with a buy option when Crouch came back to power. All Crouch did was exercise that option on what, at that time, appreaed a good buy. He had a previous injury history but looked to have got over it. Just our's and Crouch's luck...he gets a long term injury again! Crouch was looking to cut costs and I am informed Deloittes and some of Crouch's advisors had drawn up a survival document that Barclays seemed to approve. Whether it would have worked is debatable. I wonder how much of Lowes strategy was based on that document. A fair bit I suspect. Closing the corners was certainly one of them. Getting rid of Pearson certainly was not!
  24. Sorry but the answer is no. To many confidences and promises to my sources.
  25. Yes, got mine on Monday.
