  1. Lallana is out. Not been able to train this week and is being given another week to get fit.
  2. Assume Adam is still not yet fit.
  3. Jermain Defoe's return to Tottenham Hotspur has yet to be finalised and reports suggest that not only has a fee yet to agreed with Portsmouth but the deal could also come under close scrutiny for a possible breach of transfer rules. A dapper Jermain Defoe was all smiles when unveiled earlier this week. The delay in Defoe's move will cause confusion amongst fans who witnessed the player's unveiling at White Hart Lane ahead of Tuesday's 4-1 win over Burnley in their Carling Cup semi-final first leg tie. Fans greeted Defoe warmly after it seemed the striker had completed a £15 million move from Fratton Park after just 12 months on the south coast. However, it is understood that a final deal is yet to be agreed between the two clubs and paperwork remaining unsigned; as such Defoe's registration remains with Portsmouth. Added to that, Premier League rule L19 states: "A Club which transfers or cancels the registration of a Player may not apply to register that Player within a year except with the prior written consent of the Board." It is less than a year since Defoe was loaned to Portsmouth and technically Tottenham still held his registration until May when the transfer was made permanent. The only player ever to be permitted such a move was Chris Powell when he returned to Charlton, though he was without a club. And Tottenham have previous experience of the rule when they initial attempted to sign Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson. That fell through when the Premier League blocked Spurs from loaning him back to the Elland Road side immediately. Further muddying the waters are reports suggesting Defoe's mother could have played a part in negotiating his return to White Hart Lane, a fact which would breach transfer regulations as she is not registered to do so. Last year Defoe split acrimoniously with his former agent Sky Andrew, who is now suing the player for breach of contract. Andrew alleges Defoe was illegally represented by an unregistered agent in his £7 million January 2008 move to Portsmouth. As a result of the continuing case Defoe was unable to appoint new representation and was therefore left to negotiate the move to Spurs himself. The Guardian reports that Andrew could make a further claim against Defoe if his mother, Sandra St Helen, influenced the transfer. In another twist it has been reported that the deal initially stalled Defoe when Defoe demanded Portsmouth pay him a £700,000 loyalty bonus due to him because he did not seek a move away. Despite the uncertainty Defoe has begun training with Spurs, but at present would be ineligible to play for Harry Redknapp's side.
  4. All parties, and I mean all parties, now see Fulthorpe as another "tyre kicker" without the means to progress any issue relating to our club. Forget him. He is history
  5. At least some read my opinions. I have received an email to my orginal post on here to point out that although Davies was signed on 10th January 2008 whilst on Crouch's watch (which started on 17th Decembere 2007) the deal was as good as done long before that. I do recall it was a loan with an option to purchase so I am prepared to accept the deal might have been all but signed before Crouch took control and correct my post.
  6. I suspect Saints are paying his wages as Bournemouth have no money.
  7. Wow, the Echo reveal details of players wages that have been known to many on here for ages and the forum goes into anti Lowe overdrive. Let's try to get a balance and not try to take sides. Lowe was responsible for Rasiaks wages and they were unsustainable in the league we were in but comparable to those in the squad at that time who did not have the 50% relegation clause in their contract when we came down. Lowe was, by his choice of Managers in the Premier, a big part of the responsibility for the relegation. That is a given Wilde & the Executives then carried on this wanton disregard for keeping the wage bill within our reasonable means although I am happy to confirm the fact that Crouch did oppose the Euell signing. During his term Crouch paid a centre back who had been out with injury for long spells at his previous club and had yet to gain a reputation as a good defender £10,000 a week in the Championship!!! For those who argue he balanced that out with the loan deal for Rasiac & Skacel that is wrong. When he signed Davies he had every intention of keeping that pair. Rasiak went because Bolton made an offer that could not be refused and Skacel, having confirmed to Hone he was happy to stay then pushed for a loan much to their disappointment. So they have all played a major part in our downfall with a common denominator being our Financial Director, Jones. So let's not start portioning blame. Let's not give credit to any of the above. Let's all unite in condemming all that has occurred leading up to and since our relegation without exceptions. Bickering over who is to blame is as decisive as those who have put our once great club in this position.

  13. It gets better (or worse) ECB say they have no knowledge of resignations!! They say Pietersen stated he was not prepared to tour the West Indies under the present structure. Pietersen contacted (by someone - not ECB) but he was not prepared to discuss it whilst his mind in the present state.
  14. That I am not sure of and have left them out of the equasion. Rumour is that we do not owe them but of course that could change!
  15. Hi "charlie" Hope things are well with you. Have to meet up sometime again To be honest I do not know how the stadium loan will be dealt with. I am assuming they could reposses at any time if there was a loan payment default. If we go into Admin I am assuming they wold take possession outside of any other creditor and then lease back to the new administration and hold in their property investment porfolio. I thought the West Ham parent were taken over by the Islandic governement so are in effect now the owners of the stadium! My overall knowledge of the situation is very limited.
  16. Frank, very good post.
  17. There is one other major creditor I think but they will not likely put the club into Administration. Aviva are very aware of the precarious position we are in and I do not expect them to act to put us into Administration. Barclays will try to control the situation but unlikely to act either. In my opinion that leave the Directors of the plc. If they no longer feel we are a going concern and have exhaused all avenues they have a legal/fiducial duty to call in the Administrator. Voluntary Administration is what I would expect but it will be a last resort and whilst not a certainty it is very much moving from the possibiliy to the probability.
  18. Suggestion on Cricinfo is that Moores has resigned also. England in crisis Pietersen and Moores resign Cricinfo staff January 7, 2009 Kevin Pietersen and Peter Moores have resigned as England's captain and coach respectively, leaving the ECB in complete turmoil following the emergency board meeting that took place on Tuesday evening to discuss the rift in the leadership of the team. The 12-man board met by teleconference on Tuesday night, raising the possibility that Pietersen, who had not been due back from his holiday in Africa until Thursday, would pay the price for his outspoken views on the future direction of the England team. Now, however, it appears that Pietersen has taken his future into his own hands, and handed back the role he took on from Michael Vaughan barely five months ago. According to Sky News, Pietersen has given as his reasoning the fact that the ECB did not act quickly enough in responding to his demands over Moores' future. Andrew Strauss, who captained England in 2006 when Vaughan was out of the team with injury, is the hot favourite to lead them on the tour of West Indies, which begins in exactly a fortnight's time. Meanwhile, Moores' departure comes as less of a surprise. His position became untenable following the revelations of the rift, and there had been little evidence of progress under his tenure and his credibility had been damaged beyond repair. Cricinfo understands that Andy Flower, Moores' assistant coach, will be offered the interim role for the West Indies tour, although it remains highly debatable whether he will accept the role in the current circumstances. Speaking to the News of the World earlier in the week, Pietersen said: "This situation is not healthy, we have to make sure it is settled as soon as possible and certainly before we fly off to the West Indies. Everybody has to have the same aims and pull in the same direction for the good of the England team." Research conducted by the ECB's director of England cricket, Hugh Morris, however, suggested that Pietersen did not have the steadfast support of his team-mates or the back-room staff. The majority of the England support staff are understood to be supportive of Moores while most of the players are underwhelmed by Pietersen's dramatic intervention, as Steve Harmison demonstrated with his ambivalent comments on Tuesday. There was also some sympathy towards Moores who, it is understood, was given the authority to select the England captain when Paul Collingwood and Vaughan resigned, and there are those within the set-up who feel that Pietersen had betrayed the coach's trust. Attitudes towards Pietersen appeared to have hardened at board level. While few are completely convinced by Moores, they did not like the manner in which the captain has attempted to dictate events. As one board member told Cricinfo: "People who want to keep their jobs don't issue ultimatums." Although Kent's coach, Graham Ford, had been touted as Moore's probable successor, his candidature had been raised with a view to finding a man who could work alongside Pietersen. Ashley Giles is another option, although Warwickshire have warned they may not necessarily keep his job as the county's director of cricket open, should he be asked to fulfil a role as "stop-gap" coach in the Caribbean. © Cricinfo
  19. Andrew Cowen is highly respected and regarded by most people linked to the club. However it is my understanding he only came back reluctantly to try to help rescue the situation and is far too busy with other projects to give any more time than he is to SLH. Like Fitzhugh Fella, I am hearing he is fed up with it all. The next few weeks are going to be very important to SFC both on and off the field. In my personal opinion unless we strengthen the team in that period and win the games coming up we will be relegated. SLH is holding on by its fingertips on a very slippery ledge. Unless someone grabs its wrist and pulls in back from the brink very shortly it will slip away and the safety net of Administration will be the only thing to break its fall but not without many broken bones and years of rehabilitation. The prognosis is not good.
  20. Pietersen Quits as Captain. No support from the team on the Moores episode
  21. I spoke to someone a few months ago who was a friend of Rudyard Kipling at Burwash. One lovley story was he used to go down to Kiplings house at Batemans. Kiplings wife was very protective when Rudyard was working. As he used to come near the house Rudyard would wave to him from the window of his study but when he knocked his wife would say he was not at home. Fantastic to speak to someone (he is 94 now but still lucid) who was a close friend in the latter part of his life.
