We were the better side. Our passing was good, our movement was better but our finishing was very poor save McGoldricks goal which was very well taken. Euell was supposed to be playing in the hole behind McGoldrick with Thompson and Lallana out wide. Euell was ok but a little of the pace at times (understandable with lack of first team game) Lallana was ok but wasted out left. Thompson did not look up to the job in the first half but a better second with some good runs. Coventry were poor but when they put us under pressure we kept kicking the ball without and real control giving it straight back to Coventry and their goal was because of that. Quite honestly I was happy with a point but disappointed we did not hold out for all three when we went in front.

Lowe was at the training ground yesterday talking to the players about the club finances. Nothing wrong with him visiting the dressing rooms before a game. He does it most matches. What would be wrong is if he dictates selection and tactics or interferes.

Was the return of Rupert the final nail in our coffin?
Weston Saint replied to Gordon Mockles's topic in The Saints
Bloody hell, I have lost the will to live having read this thread! -
I could see the reasons for the closures and idea first muted by Crouch. However the Itchen North had become a fortress of passionate fans in the last few seasons. The atmosphere has gone now. The malaise has even spread to the Northam. Sad times

I have never been and out and out opposer of Rupert Lowe. I could see we were in the mire and his way seemed the only real answer to our financial problems particularly as we have a respected Andrew Cowen in there hopefully fighting for reality. However I have recently fallen off the fence having heard little bits from many and varied respected people with one thing in common, they all are firm supporters of Southampton Football Club. My gut feeling is that Lowe has won. There is nothing we can do. Under his stewardship Southampton FC is dying a horrible death. OK it might have happened under the previous regime, who knows. I hear (second hand I might add) even some of our young players are getting disillusioned although that may be as much down to the team inability as a unit. I am going again tomorrow evening but there is no buzz, no desire, just a numbness and realisation that I am watching the death throws of a once proud football club. I can understand the stay aways. It is not helping our financial position but it has to send an important message to Lowe and his backers. Hand over the Stewardship to someone else. Lowe himself will never give in to his ideals. Wilde has to see his damaging role in this. He needs to set the domino's falling. Resignation from the plc is the only way in my opinion. Do it please and do it soon or the little value you have left in your shareholdings will soon be worthless.

I was replying to this statement. I cannot comment about Saganowski as I have no knowledge. Do you?
-
You don't believe that the execs would listen to the bigger shareholders do you!! They pushed the biggest shareholder out and marginalised the second biggest ffs
-
Don't blame Crouch for all our recent ills but the Execs who overruled his objection to signing Euell on such a high wage for starters.

He was not there to speak. He and SG set up and paid for the meeting room. Give them some credit for getting all parties round the table.

Just a supporter. The other one is for a friend going to his first game this season. We were both season ticket holders last season but circumstances other than football put paid to that. I have only missed the Blackpool game at home this season

Pearson had sorted out the Academy and was having a positive effect on the youngsters. This is evidenced by conversations from players and officials of that time. Pearson was not on money that was considered high or unaffordable (unless he was trying to negotiate an increase we are unaware of). Lowe and Wilde had made their mind up long before they came back. Lowe had already invited the Dutchmen over (BarcelonaSaint was privy to a conversation on that matter). Wilde had hinted at a continental change (SOS were privy to that conversation) Of course we could be wrong but all the evidence points to Pearson going against his wishes. What evidence is there to support ant other outcome?

The ECB has announced a 150% increase in prize money for next season’s domestic tournaments, with the biggest prize going to the winners of the County Championship. This year Durham pocketed £100,000, but next year’s champions will collect £500,000. The players from the winning county will share £350,000 and the county £150,000. The total prize money and reward payment for the County Championship will rise to £1,060,000. The runners up will receive £225,000 of which £175,000 will go to the players and £50,000 to the county. In 2008 the runners-up received £40,000.

Surman in the transfer window if Reading come looking again?
-
If appearance money was keeping them out, and with our well publicised financial problems, why did John and Skacel not forgo such payments to get games and help the club? I have it on good authority what Skacel is paid by way of appearance money and it is not going to break the bank if paid or damage his pocket much if he agreed to forgo it. So there must be more to it than that.

My view: If we had gone down last season Administration was likely. We were living well beyond our income and no real chance of a quick fix. If we go down this season there is every chance we will be able to avoid administration. I say this because the club are cutting their cloth and although it has some way to go there is more cost cutting to come. It is my firm view that although Lowe and Wilde do not want us relegated, they are preparing the finances to be able to absorb the same should it occur and there is, as we all know, a strong chance of that at the moment.

From what I know it is costing us each time he plays but not enough to make that the reason to leave him out.

OK just testing

I got stuck on page 1. Thought it was all a bit tacky

Phil, Eric, Bullfrogs. All lead to you being one person. Phil you have met, Eric your wife works for (if she still does?) and Bullfrogs you have drunk

I doubt it is Crouch or McMenemy.
