  1. Happy Birthday youngster
  2. "We had a great start to the second half but then Southampton changed their shape and put us under a little bit of pressure, but it would have been a travesty had we got anything else but a win http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7639364.stm
  3. The Sunday Telegraph understands that the 60-year-old Zimbabwean is close to accepting his first job since resigning from the England post after the World Cup in April 2007. It is understood that Fletcher will not be a direct replacement for departed first-team manager Paul Terry, who resigned six weeks before the end of last season, but instead might have an advisory role. Giles White, the second XI coach who oversaw Hampshire’s excellent late surge away from the first division relegation zone, is likely to replace Terry. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/counties/3137507/Duncan-Fletcher-set-to-return-to-England-for-Hampshire-job-Cricket.html
  4. Well I was told back in July that McG was told he would be our main striker. I was also told then which players would not figure and who would be sold and he was right on that too. Is Lowe having a influence in picking the team? Probably, is what I have been told.
  5. Nickh, I think you should listen to Derry when it comes to tactics, he is spot on with this one. I did not see last nights match as I was out late afternoon/all evening so I cannot comment on McG for that one but I have closely watched him over the other games and he does not play in position, reduces the passing option as a result, that caused a narrowing of play, opens up the wing for the opposition to attack, exposes the full back who tries to cover that area in McG's absence. He is lazy, selfish, does not track back enough and sulks way too much. He is becoming a liability and needs a kick up the backside.
  6. Yes he is a quiet man but deserves his appointment. Good to see promotion from within
  7. £1.3 million raised for that game.
  8. Here is the web site if anyone is interested. Very worthwhile cause. http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/
  9. Here is the web site if antone wants more information http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/
  10. First game for Titans this season Scored 18 Now taken all 5 wickets 5/49 off 16 overs. I can see SA picking him after he qualifies next May.
  11. True but it may not be seen as a loss until he sells and who knows what any new invester might pay?
  12. I thought about the reaction I might get and perhaps it was a bit strong. An opinion is fine. I happen to believe (from snippits I have picked up) he will sell but not just for a change of owner. There must be investment over a sustained period. But I am not inside his head so who knows.
  13. Actually Leon Crouch paid 65p per share whereas most of Michael Wildes was at 50p if memory serves me right. I believe LC would be prepared to suffer a great loss for the good of the club (even though it would be a major blow to his net worth and one he would prefer not to see happen). I am not sure Wilde could afford the same "hit" even in relative terms. I am unaware of how Rupert Lowe would view the situation (and nor do other posters before they start spouting their bile).
  14. Hampshire County Cricket Club have been running a scheme for 2 years now whereby all members (season ticket holders in football terms) are given a book of vouchers which include free full member complimentary tickets to a couple of 1st class games and 1 day games. All the member has to do is to get his guest to complete the back of the ticket with information like name and address. The member then takes it to the ticket office in exchange for a complimentary ticket on the day. I am not sure if there is any financial benefit to the club but I am assuming many will come again and pay or themselves become a member. It also gives a marketing base although there is the regulatory get out box. It is a simplistic scheme because members are not allocated specific seats for those games, only reserved areas. Would it work in football? I doubt it would because of the allocated seating policy in football. David Lucker is correct, if you give benefits to non season ticket holders you risk alienating a “captured” audience. It is a difficult business marketing a football club and as David rightly says, the quality of the product is what sells. There may be budding marketing directors out there. One way might be for the club to set up a competition of ideas on marketing Saints with a decent prize for any suggestion used linked to the additional revenue it brings in. The club and supporters could set up an independent tribunal to oversee to make sure of fair play.

    Chances ?

Now that is a much better post. I agree with the sentiments.
  16. Your source is creditable and has been involved with the group. I will say no more than that. Like you I have been given a number of dates from other sources that have passed by. Forgive me for not holding my breath. I am sure your source has been told it is still on just as Long Shot was told by Fulthorpe. Tin hats if you post such details on here though
  17. Have thought more about this. We do not have an out and out experienced role model bowler in the squad. Cork has been there, done it and has the on and off field experience. He will help our bowlers in the nets with tips and encouragement and when playing will be able to offer that bit of advice to a bowler that might just make a difference. Remember Bond telling Tremlett to cut down his run. It has helped his bowling and "fitness" a bit. Also a bit of sun on their backs and I can see Carberry, Lumb and Benham coming good next season on a more consistant basis. For the latter I think it may be a make or break season but he has undoubted talent.
  18. posted by, Neil Morrice | Tue 16th, Sep 2008 11:02 MICK MARSHALLS HIS TROOPS THE BOSS is an increasingly regular sight at his desk in the main office as was the case on a busy work morning today. The healing process from his injuries is in its full throes, but while admitting to "hurting all over" he is clearly over the worst and well on his way back to normal. Mick watched the footage of today's action after discussing the work with Eddie Creighton, Cathy Gannon, Candy Morris, Michael Geran, Sam Hitchcott and Tadgh O'Shea. I know he was delighted to hear Sam's bulletin on Youmzain who is literally bursting to get back on the racecourse. http://www.mickchannon.tv/news.php
  19. I reckon Giles White is our new Manager. Just a huntch after listening to Cork interview on Sky
  20. What a waste. Spoke to many Lancashire supporters last year and they doubted his ability of late. May be able to pass some of his experience to our young up and coming though. May be that was the reason.
  21. Shame, I liked Michael as a person and an opening batsman. He was a bit peed off about being dropped from the one day side recently. Do't know who the new signing will be. Ramps has been mentioned. Don't want Vaughan. I rate him to get his form back and we will hardly see him play. If he does not get his form back what is the point in signing him. Bransgrove took the same view with Simon Jones before last season started. Now we know, it is Dominic Cork ffs!
  22. Nothing so far.
  23. Hants have offered Billy Taylor a 1 year deal to play in 1 day comps only.
