  1. If I remember the CCTV "evidence" Dyer was in the room and seen "looking in a handbag" On what I would assume was legal advice he pleaded guilty. BWP was seen at the doorway looking in. He did not enter the room and no real evidence he was "keeping a watch out" Evidence for him was by association only but quite rightly, without any other evidence BWP's legal advice was to plead not guilty and apply for a hearing. The Judge made the correct decision in my opinion. Let's hope his acquittal will lead to a loan with someone. He is not doing the business for us on his alleged high earnings.
  2. Have to agree with that. Lowe is not an experienced football man and cannot know what players are needed to bring balance to the club. I suspect he is taking football advice from others including our coaches who have not been around for long and are still bedding in. They will likely give an opinion of what sort of player is required and what position. Lowe takes advice from those that know who is available to fit the requirements and importantly the financial restraints. Lowe then goes out and tries to do the deal with the players agent and club. If my senario is correct then Poortvliet's and Wotte are correct in that they have no real choice over the player but do have a say in the position/requirement skills. They will have known what to expect and as they grow into the job and exposure to English Football and assuming our finances stabilise no doubt they will have more input into the "who" rather that the "what" Just my view
  3. Do you reckon he is Steven Gerrards cousin?
  4. Lets look at the high earners still at SMS: John, Skacel, Euell, BWP and Thomas. I would hazzard a guess that they are costing about £2.1m in wages plus insurance, pension and NIC. John still appears to have a part to play and with Rasiak and Saga on loan I am sure the club see that. Thomas is cover but it is pretty well rumoured he has been told he can go. Skacel, Euell (now injured) and BWP do not appear to have a role. So we are probably wasting about £1m a year on keeping them As the Window has closed and no one wants them because of their wages what is to stop them going out on loan when that period opens in two weeks. The same wage problem? Well lets say they are put out there with Saints contributing 50% wages for the loan duration. Could at least save us £0.5m.? Just a thought!
  5. Excellent win. When the rain came I was up in the Robin Smith. Tim Tremlett came up and told me and a few others I was stood with, including Mr Bransgrove, that Nigel (Head Groundsman) had looked at the radar, that the rain would last a while, then clear enough to get the game back on until the next lot of rain which would then be persistant. We were quite cool that the game would be back on, as it was.
  6. Spoke to Leon Crouch this evening at the Rose Bowl. He has no news. Suggestion from one of my contacts say when Fulthorpe approached last Saturday he said there was going to be an announcement last Friday (yes he seema to have got the TSF and Saints Web bug) but there are 4 points that need clearing up including a planning regulation (did not know you needed that to build a team ) So nothing new there then!
  7. Perhaps that is because they have only agreed the deal subject to him recovering and not paying any wages until he does?
  8. The Coach made mistakes, the players made mistakes! What is important is if they learn from those mistakes and move forward. Not interested in Leicester or their Manager. Different league, different team, different financial backing.
  9. Alpine Saint. Look inside please and you may see yourself as others see you. You have been a bit negative for a while. Some of it may be justified but not all the time. You and I have got on ok in the past and hopefully still will but you need to look at the number of posts criticising your posting views against those supporting them. Ease down on the aggression. If others come back at you with aggression just ingore the post. ;)
  10. Umpires happy with the wicket. Spoke to Steve Garret at Lunch. No pitch inspector today at the ground. He said an ideal wicket for someone like Davies. He bowled straight and the ball "wobbled" a bit. Hampshire players say nothing wrong with the wicket. Conditions have been the reason. Spoke to Tomlinson who has high regard for Davies and suggested his record, when to takeout his injuries, is very good. If it is sunny tomorrow it will be interesting to see what happens. Got to favour Durham to wrap up the win though.
  11. Spoke to Tony Pigot the pitch insecion liaison officer before the game but he is unable to comment on the pitch even to the umpires. He stayed most of the day and for part I had the same view as his. The ball was seaming quite a bit but with a true bounce. Spoke to the Durham coach at lunch. He agreed seaming but the wicket was also slow. Spoke to Umpire Rob Bailey in the middle when finally off for bad light and he did not think the wicket was too bad. Would be suprised if any point deduction.
  12. Lallana was to be rested tonight but insisted he wanted to play. That says enough for team spirit, enthusiasm and pure hunger. Well done Adam
  13. Very pleased with his performance. Played a corker (sorry)
  14. Just back with a big smile on my face. This team will not be in a relegation fight. It might not make the top 6 this season but if they stick together over the next few seasons this team will restore our position in the Premier league. Well done to Jan, exceeded all expectations in a very short time. Well done Lowe and Wilde for going with someome and something new. I am quite optimistic. Money well spent so far this season (mine I mean). Forget they are young kids, forget opposition to Lowe and Wilde. Get along and watch some fantastic football.
  15. 2 year contract extention according to Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/counties/2616158/Joyces-controversial-dismissal-takes-shine-off-Hampshire-win---Cricket.html Signed it on Friday accoprding to Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/aug/25/hampshire.middlesex
  16. Anyone else see this Derby report applying to us last season?
  17. Recently signed a long term contract with Hampshire according to a line in a BBC report of yesterdays match http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/7579595.stm
  18. http://www.football.virginmedia.com/page/southamptonvideo/ You need broadband with at least 1Mb and sit through an advert first.
  19. Surely this post is class conscious bile! Certainly bought the bile to my throat.
  20. But, SaintRobbie, there is no alternative at present. We do not have a god given right to investment. Others are managing without. Lowe & Co are just trying to cut our cloth to be able to survive. This is nothing to do with Lowe & co clearing the deck for investment. If the investment was coming there is no need to clear the decks! Agreed Lowe & co are doing this for SLH plc. That is their job and if it was your investment at risk you would be doing the same. Don't be fooled that the Fulthorpe way is the correct one. If it is just a change of personnel without long term financial backing we are in no different a situation than when Wilde & Co kicked Lowe out! If fact I would suggest we are in more trouble because of it. The transfer deadline is almost upon us. If Fulthorpe had the money men he would surely have acted by now. That suggests to me that despite all the "hints" being drip fed to all and sundry he just does not have what is required. Your hatred for Rupert Lowe is clouding your judgment and leading to knee jerk wishes. All in my humble opinion, of course.
  21. Good win. Puts us top of the table. 202 all out
  22. That is a very fair point. Proper investment should not be shunned. It would need a three year plan with money to back it up. Otherwise I would prefer the route Lowe is taking.
  23. Ervine seems to like Lords. Hope his side injury (pulled muscle) is not too bad. Over to the bowlers.
  24. Calm down Baj.
