What news on ticket sales for the Luton match
eelpie replied to brianoneils slidingtackle's topic in The Saints
Don't ST holders have a priority booking period? If parts of the ground cannot be opened for 'low-attendance' matches, don't ST holders get a priority period to book elsewhere? If the whole ground were to be opened when it is uneconomical to do so, this would be financial incompetence and then we really would have grounds (excuse pun) for complaint. -
It is for the Administrator to answer this question. No-one else. And Fry should. Presumably accounts have been (or will be) submitted to HMRC, and they will surely want to be satisfied that donations have been included and accounted for. I certainly do not regret the paltry sum that I donated. Our donations and efforts may have supported the impression that Marcus does have that Saints have always had a dedicated, fan-base. And always will have. I believe our efforts were not in vain.

Now you do realise, Robbie, that cartoonists cannot but draw themselves (bottom right).......

Grecians match report. http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10436~47826,00.html They seem to feel they were soundly defeated.

Can we have a Papa Waigo vs Antonio poll please Mods?
eelpie replied to mynameisthehulk's topic in The Saints
But Antonio hasn't scored anytime in the League. Papa does. And Papa is most devastating when they are tiring. So Antonio to start and confuse everybody!! -
This is a really interesting test for us. Colchester have an even tighter home defence than Leeds, and Leeds frustrated our attempts to get near their goalmouth. Colchester: P22 W8 D1 L1 F18 A7 So should we play for a rugged draw and hope to get them on the break? Probably imo. If Adam is out I would play Mills too, with Antonio to start and bring Papa on at half time. It seems to work best that way. Bart James - Jaidi - Perry - Harding Antonio - Hammond - Morgan - Mills Lambert - Connolly Subs - Davis, Goborn, Thomas, Mellis, Patterson, Wotton, Papa Mills needs matches to fulfil his potential, so this could be his opportunity. A pity that Lee Holmes hasn't returned to his best since injury.

Terrific stuff! Well done! (SWF has chronicled the most important year in our history since relegation from the Prem. Please, please save safely for posterity before the upgraded system wipes it all, lol - like happened with tsf, gone forever the golden statue post). Happy Crimbo all!

Merry Christmas Ron, and Merry Christmas Tim! May 2010 be the beginnings of good times again for Ron and for Saints

And I hope memories of why we lost to Brighton will stir the players to start positively. Too often at home (not always) they begin tentatively, miskicking and generally look out of sorts, allowing away teams to dominate tackles and effort. They must not allow this to happen against a fired-up Exeter and their travelling fans. So I fear we may have to be patient and fight back after conceding an early sloppy goal. So my message to the players is REMEMBER BRIGHTON. Keep tight at the back. Result 2-1 to Saints, class telling after a scrappy first half.

That is why we should target top players in clubs with financial problems. There must be quite a few now.
-
So how many days till we are promoted then?
-
No he isn't. He wasn't against Norwich. Give it a rest. He's learning, unlike you it seems.

Such a positive and uplifting message from Nicola. I'd like to respond and thank by email. Does anyone know Nicola and Marcus's email addresses?

From Leeds fans forum about Beckford: "I think Beckford will be leaving now in January and i wouldn't play him in the next league matches after today" and "If he wants to go let him go, i think he is being very badly advised" "The last time he scored an important goal against a decent side was 2 months ago against Norwich and he nearly missed that one - anybody coming in with money for him we should snatch their hands off" "He has no value at all really, nobodys going to pay a fee for someone they can get on a free from May" " did get told today there is 2 offers going on the table in january for beckford how true we will find out. barcodes 2.5 million cash up front wolves 6 million in installments depending as well on if he keeps them up" So is he worth bidding for?

AP has used Lloyd in all sorts of rolls. He was one of the first to respond to Pardew's tactics and team building early season. Playing him out of position hasn't helped him develop though. He's become a useful Jack of all Trades while Murty has been injured and we have had few alternatives. Spiderman has made midfield his own, and Lloyd is not a stopper in the Wotton mould. It could be that we are now approaching the time when AP can find and sign a better player in the January window that fulfills Lloyd's roll. Meanwhile he is a useful utility player who should at least be on the bench, so let's se how well Fish does instead. 2010 could be Mills' year.

Well, I didn't expect to win today against by far the best and most consistent attack/defence combo in the division, and I'm glad we played a strong side against Norwich. We're on the road to Wembley!
-
lol Typo. Should have read CB backup for Jaidi. We also need stronger replacements for all our aging and injury-prone stalwarts: Perry, Wotton, Murti, Connolly, Thomas. I can't see them lasting the season in top form for all matches. When we need them most they'll sometimes be unavailable.
-
Ok, So where are our weakest areas? RCB RB CM (to cover for Jaidi) Striker (to cover for Connolly) surely. From the Championship or lower leagues (realistically) and if we could cherry pick, who are the players that would suit us best? Remember, skills are useless without temperament, attitude and teamwork. We don't want a troublemaker in the dressing room.
-
I would definitely start with Papa for his pace and skills to wear out Leeds defenders, then bring on Antonio later. It always works that way. Otherwise I agree. And Papa is seriously in-form. (Our right sided defence does need strengthening if we seriously have play-off ambitions.)
-
I think Adam did well nevertheless. He was grafting hard and furious, running and chasing to win the ball all over the place in tight situations to win the ball from swift, incisive, skilled Norwich players who were on the ascendency for much of the match, and threatening to swamp us with goals. For me he exemplifies the new spirit of combativeness in the side that refuses to be defeated. How he can best be released from defensive duties when we are weak in the middle to forage to better effect is the question. I felt that Hammond was not up to his usual best for much of the match, despite some useful interceptions, certainly not showing the same energy as Lallana was. That may have been part of the problem, but hey Norwich are a testing team!

Too late. Saints sold Jesus.
-
Saints sold off Jesus and Christian a few seasons ago, and then what happened to us! Perhaps we're being forgiven at last. But don't throw out the hair shirts yet till we are in the promised lands, folks!

I see Dons are only 22nd in the form guide with a minus 6 gd http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/CurrentForm/0,,10794~200925,00.html

Holt landed not one but two punches on Antonio (right in front of me and in front of the lino) Clearly two punches are not enough for a red. Norwich lost because they focused on petty time wasting tactics, sly fouls, forgot to play good football when they were in the ascendency, and simply lost their cool and concentration.
