  1. We're not quite filling our stadium this season. So we don't yet deserve a sparkling larger one in Millionaires Row. And I wouldn't be able to afford the higher prices anyway.
  2. When he becomes a Saints legend sculpted in bronze the sculptor need look no further for his source pic.
  3. This. It didn't work against Manure because he was an unknown and he was not familiar with the way we play. But once he has scored his first premiership goal he will be regarded as a real threat to opposition defences, especially when ours is under pressure.
  4. Schneiderlin lower than Kelvin, Steve Davis, Clyne and Hooiveld is very surprising and unjust. It would be interesting to know how they came to this assessment.
  5. I wonder if WGS had anything to do with recommending him to us?

    Nile Ranger

Ex Saint Nile Ranger in trouble again. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/24/newcastle-united-nile-ranger-arrested So glad he was shipped out.
  7. Tried that, and the News link at the top, and every other link, but to no avail. The new OS is disrespectful of us supporters if after 5 matches it still cannot sort itself out.
  8. Puncheon is a changed player. He is positive and direct which we need, showing some deft touches. Also some mistakes, but now he seems keen to learn. I always like to see the 'baddens' come good, and so far he is justifying his selection. He deserved his ovation when he came off.
  9. I've tried numerous times today to open this news item on the OS. Unsuccessful each time. Anyone else had trouble opening this and other news items on our new dysfunctional OS? Very frustrating. Sh*t site
  10. This season Swansea have players like Nathan Dyer in fine form. Such a pity we can't produce players of this quality. ohh..... I've just remembered we did have a youngster with the same name who nearly everyone said was rubbish. Surely it can't be the same person?
  11. I don't think I could cope with another 'Winter Wonderland'.
  12. This. Strachan arrived when we were heading for relegation (in not dissimilar circumstances) and he revived a small but better balanced and effective squad and clearly inspired the best from them. He always said 'defend from the front' and we played with good shape with talented strikers (as we have now). Sure we were often out of our depth even then, but his strength was mixing talent with effective journeymen players which achieved some stirling results. He was not perfect but we could learn some lessons from him.
  13. We've had some very good keepers in previous 1st Divie and Prem days - like Martin for example - who's agility and top class saves have kept us in the frame. To be in the top tier with a second tier standard stopper is proving disastrous. We've also had some tougher, more resolute defenders too in the past. Enough said.
  14. We need a manager like Gordon Strachan who understands the importance of defending. I know we lost by about the same scoreline in the Premiership just before the Cup Final, but he learned from that and on the day we weren't far off beating Arsenal at The Millenium Stadium. We also need a new keeper and a very strong CB - on loan fast! Alternatively Gordon would make a good assistant manager. I like Nigel too, and we owe him a lot, but he needs help.
  15. Another Killer!
  16. I'm hoping Chaplow will be on the bench. His confrontational belligerence could be what is needed to break up their attacks when we tire towards the end and Arse's forwards crowd our defence, just as happened against Manure.. No-one else we have does this as effectively (when Chaps is at his best).
  17. You're so naughty
  18. Statistically Arse have not conceded a goal yet. Saints have conceded an average of 2.7 goals a game. They have a relatively settled squad. We are probably going to introduce promising new players without much team practice. But I hope you are right.
  19. I find it frustrating too. Navigation takes me on a tour of what I don't want to read. And the white type against the black background hurts the eyes. Now, I no longer bother to 'enter' the site. I just check the opening page headline, then come straight here for details.
  20. Wouldn't Chaplow be better in midfield if Cork is still injured?
  21. I agree that Scholes was a massive substitute and his intelligent accurate passing was the main reason we lost. But I still believe that we needed fresh legs in central midfield. For me the bench was wrong and the player we needed to break up their attacks was a belligerent, confrontational Chaplow. That is what he does well. When Scholes came on he might not have had the space he got.
  22. Yes, but he was the wrong sub on the pitch against Manure. Faster he may be but he did not fit into our pattern of play at that time, and looked lost. Biily is part and parcel of our style and he is a proven goal poacher who would have been a focal threat against United's wobbly defence. That decision more than likely cost us a point. I think what most disturbs me is that Billy Sharp has not really had much of an opportunity to show what he can do in the Prem for us. It's quite possible that Mayuka's speed will be matched by his goal scoring abilities, but we will never now know whether he or Sharp would be the better goal scorer. I do hope that we have a recall clause. Bad timing has cost us (imho).
  23. Don't agree, and the evidence is that we have a weak defence. it is apparent for everyone to see. If Cortese influenced team matters we would be more defensively minded with better players in that department, which is not the case.
  24. The team were well off par against Wigan, which was very frustrating. Hardly anyone tackled and blocked in the second half, they mainly backpedalled, unlike against both Manchester teams when we were challenging for everything during most of those matches. It seems that we put on our better displays against the top teams and underperform against weaker teams. I know we have only played against one 'weaker' team so far, but this was a familiar pattern last season. We still ave not learned how to stifle determined opposition of any ability for 90 minutes .
  25. ...unlike the decision to loan out Sharp, who was our most prolific goalscorer in the last few weeks of last season (thereby crucially assuring our promotion) and Sharp was also our most prolific goal scorer pre-season. I strongly believe that had he been on the bench to replace Lambert against Manure he would have caused enough problems to have prevented their onslaught in our penalty area and we would not have lost. Barny however would not have that ability and I am pleased that he has been loaned out. We might still need him (and Sharp again) if we go down
