  1. That's where we got Oxo from.
  2. There is no time limit on succeeding. Otherwise Rickie would have been judged a failure in his early career by many on here. As we should all know by now, players do not all develop to a timetable. Many of the best have taken a few years to show their true promise. A young Kevin Phillips was released by us to a non league club, but went on to become a Premiership leading scorer, to name just one player whose early talent was not recognised by us. Perhaps a companion thread might be 'When Saints young talents found success elsewhere'
  3. Which is why I suggested 'Together We Succeed"
  4. Not the place for the idolising of current individual players imho. I prefer every player to be treated equally and praised per performance on a match to match basis. So my suggestion is "Together we Succeed" (No pun intended, but the 'Together We Stand' could be a name for one of the stands -sorry I'll get my coat) I do like Mbizzle's suggestion that past heroes be commemorated around the stadium though
  5. In the end -and it was the last games that mattered most (when we nearly blew it) - Billy Sharp's goals were the most important because Ricky was not finding the net then.
  6. Yes, but did they prolong Saints administration long enough to keep us from being wound up? Could Markus actually have purchased SFC earlier, or wlll we ever know the full facts? Does it matter? Not any more.
  7. That was the club mascot
  8. What is wrong with wearing the Saints kit? That's a form of fancy dress
  9. I would have liked to draw with Reading at home - or with anyone else we lost to, 'cos with just one point more we would have been Champions on goal difference. However it is no big deal to have ended missing top spot. We were second last year and perhaps that gave us the extra drive and determination to succeed this year. Take Brighton - they just assumed they would be above us, silly Poyet. Absolutely nothing can diminish the excellence of our achievement!
  10. The great man deserves his own thread Thank you Nicola for persuading Markus to buy us, for believing in, and rebuilding the club, and for continuing your belief in SFC after Markus died, and for your long term vision for the club. Nicola has been controversial in the past and not always popular with everyone, but yesterday he kept out of the limelight and let the players and Nigel get the plaudits they so richly deserved. Often throughout the last three seasons looking so serious in his seat above the clock, it was terrific to see him so happy. A great guy.
  11. Sorry, I meant "SISU out"
  12. Quite agree. Replace "Going down" chant with "You'll come back stronger!" and "See you back in the Prem" and when we've won "SISA out"
  13. Supporters versus nerves. This is the crucial underlying battle that could determine the result. WE somehow must not let on-pitch nerves get to us all in the stands. Or in-the-stands nervousness get to the players. At all times, if we can keep up a barrage of noise - the noisiest ever - throughout the WHOLE game - the players will do the job! Even when mistakes are made - as will happen - keep up the noise! Positivity!!! COYR!!!
  14. How about refunds when matches are moved to different dates and times?
  15. I will forever blame the f@@kwit idiots who streamed onto the pitch when they thought Saints had beaten the skates, and caused that crucial extra minute to be added to the match. They will of course do it again on Saturday.
  16. We lost because we were all over the place defensively. Yes Hines should have been sent off but don't forget they had a goal disallowed for offside that TV has shown was onside. If we go ahead on Saturday, please Nigel, cram everyone in front of our goalmouth!
  17. Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 2HD from 5pm
  18. Best pub in London for Saints fans to watch Middlesbrough game? Where are you going?
  19. ans pub in London to watch Middlesbrough game?
  20. Incidentally, has anyone made a collection of versions of OWTSGMI by different musicians on cd? My favourite is by Fats Domino, though it is not particularly slow to start with. The tune and words originated of course as a gospel or spiritual hymn, beginning as a slow march dirge returning from funerals ( our last few years!) before livening up and going upbeat hot 'dixieland'. So beginning slow for at least two verses before livening up would now be even more appropriate!
  21. At any time during the game? Absolutely no. I am still bitterly angry that the consequence of the idiots celebrating Saints goal against skates on the pitch was that additional extra time was added during which Portsmouth equalised 30 seconds before the final whistle. And so we missed out on two precious points . If we fail to be promoted by one or two points I will hold those idiots responsible, and I hope they sleep badly for the rest of their lives. After the match when we are promoted? Try and stop me! So ffs don't invade the pitch during the Coventry match because the same could happen again. Especially since we seem to be so vulnerable during the closing minutes lately. Of course they won't learn. They are so mindless that they'll do it again. And West Ham will pip us to automatic promotion by one goal.
  22. Now is the time to walk tall. We WILL win the couple of games we need. We WILL be promoted. Because we have the skills, the determination, willpower and character to overcome obstacles. Now is the time to wholeheartedly get behind the lads, not cower behind the sofa. They deserve better. COYR!!!
  23. On the Guardian website- http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/apr/13/joy-of-six-le-tissier-finney Actually they are wrong, because Terry Paine was belatedly awarded a World Cup winner's medal, and an MBE. (Perhaps Matt will also get an MBE one day.)
  24. And Lawro's assessment is largely based on Saints indifferent display against Blackpool, so fair play, on that evidence it was true that we lost and Lambo wasn't in the team. I agree with him and we will win tonight, score two goals and concede one - because we will be playing with the team that saw out Palace, and not only won, but regained composure and confidence.. 2-1!
  25. Lol, I was waiting for someone to spot the typo. It should have read 'bustling'. I can't change it, but I think it's funny enough to stay. Whatever it takes to win!
