There are plenty of players who have had to step down to non league level because their bodies can’t take the rigours of higher level football. Training once a week and playing on a Saturday takes a different level of fitness to training every day and playing against top quality opposition.

I’d rather not expose u21’s that aren’t ready for this level, getting destroyed over the next 16 games and ruining their confidence. This league is brutal. Would like to see SAA get a meaningful loan.

So basically the summer window all over again.

What on earth are you on about? We got a premier league player on loan who helped us get promoted and their club didn’t want to sell. It was indeed a great decision.

He may well have been tbh, I don’t know. But him and Howe go back to Bournemouth when he refused to play in project restart as was out of contract, once Howe came in at Newcastle the rivalry reignited.

Think that was more to do with him and Eddie Howe hating each other.

I don’t think SR are wedded to a philosophy. They gave Wilcox free rein and he bought possession style with him, hiring Martin. Makes buying players a pain in the arse though.

Kieran Maguire on the radio earlier said that the clubs who were skirting the lines were the ones doing the dodgy academy player sales in the summer (Forest, Villa, Newcastle etc) but they all believe they’ve complied. He also said that clubs should actively look to break FFP rules to stay up, because the financial benefit far outweighs the penalty.

Blimey, no-one saw that coming.

The only conceivable way this happens is if we agree to include a relatively low release clause for the summer (£7-10m?). Stops him going for free and doesn’t take a huge offer for him to leave. But after he didn’t get his move last time after relegation, can’t see him agreeing to do that. Plus, he’ll get a handsome signing on fee whoever he goes to if he leaves on a free.

That’s the thing that rankles most. Puts in a shift now the windows open, where’s that been for 2 years.

I personally think there’s a very good player in Charles, wasn’t overly suited to how RM played and didn’t get a proper run in the team in his preferred position. Fair point on the pivots, I guess will depend who the manager is in the summer!

So you expect to have three top quality players all vying for one position?
