  1. Exactly, these fair play rules should hopefully limit the likelihood of clubc doing a Pompey but they will also make it easier for the really big clubs to stay ahead. If these rules had been in place since the Prem started only Man U and Arsenal would have won the league, Chelsea and Blackburn wouldn't have been able to provide much needed competition.
  2. I know Chanrai has made noises about returning but how convincing is he? The basic premise is that because he's owed loads he wants to keep them alive. But they're due to make big losses next year and are now in league 1 - just how does Chanrai make any money back in this scenario?
  3. errr i thought the Condems took a hammering
  4. FFS they need to give it up, beyond embarrassing.
  5. Must say I don't quite get the twitter thing - who is actually saying that? is is Tony Husband or Adrian Foster?
  6. Totally agree, plus they'd be able to flog a load of cheap t-shirts and flags. Kids especially love this sort of thing and it would be memorable event for them to cement them as Saints supporters.
  7. The press are so full of their own importance, Cortese won't be paying any attention.
  8. The basic answer is that our water companies are complacent and have been allowed to under-invest in infrastructure. Sure it has been dry in the South over the last year or two compared to other years But 1. Other parts of this small island have had plenty of excess. 2. Hardly a drought compared to Australia etc. 3. An absolute shedload has fallen in the last month. Unfortunately, another example of a poorly designed privatisation.
  9. ****ing Brian Howe, he gets off on the attention but as a self proclaimed super fan (they have a few....) if he had the will and the cash he'd have bought them already.
  10. omg, certainly ruined promotion for me.
  11. Will Corp ever come back on here? I did see a thread on POL which asked whether or not Pompey would be able to re-sign Marlon Pack and Matt Ritchie. So the names are certainly less illustrious but still above Pompey's current station.
  12. I'm talking about how it works in the business world. Ultimately the club is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it but in the real world away from football, Companies are valued based upon an assessment of actual/predicted revenues and profits. As you pointed out we've already been able to sell players for mega bucks before the new investment but what is the expected increase in revenue and profits directly related to this investment? I'd imagine this is very hard to judge and as such, in the normal business world, it wouldn't add much to the Company value. This being the world of football who knows.
  13. Unless you've got fantastic will power then I reckon the only proven way to get fit, lose weight and keep it off is to do it slowly over time. 2 stone in 2 months is v challenging in my mind. I'd suggust a modest reduction in calories (best method is portion control) and a mix of weights and aerobic excercise. Have a look at high intensity interval training on the web. 5-a-side is also cracking for fitness.
  14. In any normal business, spending a wedge on a project that does not have a predictable or reliable revenue return would add no value whatsoever.
  15. Certainly brought a tear to my eye. Terrible year for Billy off the pitch, must have been a really strange set of feelings for him after the match. http://www.ljsfoundation.org.uk/index.htm Really easy to donate, just text the number on the website.
  16. Would be happy with: Scott Sinclair, Matt Phillips, Curtis Davis, Emmanuel Frimpong (loan), Nathanial Clyne, and a young keeper (from Europe to get better value).
  17. He was almost lost for words. Took refuge from the crowds and went into the tunnel straight after the whistle. Was very emotional when being questioned by Dan Walker.
  18. Hardly anyone sings the words anyway, just nanananana at top speeed.
  19. All the pundits on the beeb and Sky think it was fully deserved and should have a good shot at staying up next season. michael owen ‏ @themichaelowen Reply RetweetedRetweet Delete FavoritedFavorite · Close Open Details Well done Southampton. Great club and good to see them back in The Premier League. Telegraph Sport ‏ @TelegraphSport Reply RetweetedRetweet Delete FavoritedFavorite · Close Open Details Gabby Logan's sign off on the Beeb: "The Atkins diet has worked for Southampton but the weight (sic) goes on for Big Sam and West Ham."
  20. So proud of Adkins and the players. Never out of the top 2 all season and then promotion at SMS. An amazing achievement, we've been there to be shot all season but they all kept their nerve and their bottle. Can't wait for August.
  21. Who could have imagined we'd be back in the PL so quickly? such a shame that he died too early to see it happen. Saints legend.
  22. Gloating never reflects well on the gloater but who cares haha. Bad luck wet spam, hope to see them lose in the play-offs!
  23. My grandad got captured there by the Germans in WWII. Needless to say, he didn't enjoy the nightlife.
