  1. No Ritchie has been their best player this season and he plays on the right. Di Canio has brought in and discarded quite a few players so far this season so won't be afraid to stick Holmes in and keep him there if he impresses.
  2. Holmes played on loan at Swindon ages ago from Derby before he started getting injured, expect his got good memories.
  3. FFS, without Crouch's goals we'd have been down way before the last day of the season.
  4. saintscottofthenortham shoots to the top of the "potentially repressed gays desperately trying to prove they're straight" list.
  5. I know all that, of course it is right to have views but why should he be able to impose his views to the detriment of others? i.e: what right does he have for his views to mean that gays can't have a civil marriage? I don't quite get this idea that the minority are enforcing their views on the majority. If you don't like gay marriage don't have one.
  6. brilliant stuff holepuncture, certainly improved my mood.
  7. But the Govt aren't proposing to force Churches to offer gay marriages.
  8. Presumably you don't think that people should have to have a religious marriage service though?
  9. gay sex is being forced on you? errr that's called rape and as far as I know the Tories aren't proposing to force that upon us. If you don't like gay sex (and btw doth the lady protest a bit too much?) then don't do it and don't watch it. That's pretty easy, isn't it?
  10. lol there is certainly no shortage of gullible people ready to believe a scare story, especially if it appeals to their prejudices. A detailed recent study estimates that the Muslim population of the UK will rise from 4.6% in 2010 to 8.2% by 2030 - and you reckon they're going to gain another 42 percentage points in just 20 years? http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2011/feb/11/islam-population http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8189231.stm
  11. You don't really believe that do you?
  12. Aww diddums Pompey, so sowwy we hurt your feelings....
  13. Great. He's entitled to his views. If he doesn't want to marry a man, preside over a gay marriage ceremony, or attend a gay marriage then he's free not to do so. But why should he impose that on others?
  14. Go then - what was "the point"? If it is so obvious you should be able to explain it quite easily.
  15. But the Govt aren't proposing to force the church to allow gay marriage. They're just proposing to allow civil gay marriage.
  16. FFS, what are you on you pleb? The church haven't got a monopoly on the definition of marriage you know. In this country, a non-religious service is a "civil marriage ceremony". Personally I was very glad not to have any cretinous religious bull**** play any part in my marriage ceremony.
  17. # What so hetero couples married in civil ceremonies aren't "married"? you knob.
  18. eh? loads of heterosexual couple get married without ever setting foot in a church. why shouldn't homosexual couple also be allowed.
  19. Where did he say he wanted marriage in church? IMO the church can make their own rules if they want, but I don't see why they should be able to dictate to the non-religious.
  20. Don't quite know why people seem to be picking on SaintAndy. What so he's young and less experienced? So what. This would be a very quiet board indeed if only the suitably qualified and experienced were allowed an opinion.
  21. The smoking ban was brought in to protect pub workers from passive smoking not patrons. I'm glad they're non-smoking now - make's it a more attractive place to go for non-smokers but wasn't that bothered before the law was introduced because it was my choice to go to a pub where I knew it would be smokey. In any case I'm not convinced the smoking ban is at fault. Pubs are so fricking expensive these days as a result of duty and landlords whacking up rents year on year. It's a win win for landlords. They either get a tidy rent from a successful pub or they get an empty pub which they can turn into flats. I'd welcome the Govt relaxing duty on drinks served in pubs/restaurants while increasing duty on supermarket sold booze, and also Councils restricting planning consents on former pubs.
  22. In some ways it does look like you're just delaying a hoof but part of the advantage of this is that it draws the opposition out of position and streches the distance between their defence, midfield and strikers.
  23. maybe he'd been reading it before today's match?
  24. Mmmm, funny how the Tories become in favour of state intervention when there are votes at stake. OK, so they'll only do a deal if Pompey are liquidated but do they really think a Conference South or lower non-league side will be able to pay rent to cover the costs incurred by the Council. Would be a real struggle even if they do get the crowds they hope for. We know that they almost failed to renew safety certificates on some areas of the ground. It is an old and delapidated ground - could be a real money pit for the Council.
  25. The whiff of Corp Ho bull**** is as strong as ever. What a joker.
