  1. The banks need to be subjected to the rule of law just like everyone else. Can't believe that you of all people want Govt intervention to protect them, didn't have you down as a socialist
  2. Source of revenue for the exchequer? Lol the Govt and Bank of England have been writing blank cheques for the banks for the last few years in case you forgot. Criminal proceeding against individuals won't cause a run on the banks get a grip.
  3. Being told to "use your brain" by you is stupid as it gets on here. You're as consistent an idiot as they come.
  4. This Commons spat is everything that is wrong with British politics. Politicians arguing like teenagers and trying to score points when what needs to happen is a proper enquiry and if necessary criminal proceedings.
  5. The statue reaction thread was THE best Saints related thread ever. Would love it if someone could resurrect it from the dead.
  6. DIY with some clippers.
  7. Is this actually true or just apocryphal?
  8. He's a great lad and would be an international standard player if he could actually complete a pass or two to a team mate. There's a reason he does so much running.....
  9. Not been in the Summer but the skiing in the Stubai is cracking. Always thought it would be a good summer spot, worth a few days stay if you've got the time especially as so handy for Innsbruck. I'd imagine the glacier would be open for a visit.
  10. That's the route I took for skiing earlier this year down to Austria. You've got a couple of options for Belguim to Germany. We went Brussels > Namur > Luxembourg > Zweibrucken > Karlsruhe. Petrol is significantly cheaper in Luxembourg so worth a pitstop here. There's a non-motorway stretch between Zweibrucken and Karlsruhe but its dual carriage way most of the way and worth taking IMO. From Kempten we went to Fussen and took the Fernpass through the "Zugspitze arena" into Austria which has stunning views of the mountains. Traffic was pretty heavy back in February (Saturday change-over day in all the ski resorts) but imagine should be lighter in the Summer. In any case if you make a fairly early start from Kempten you'll be ahead of the game. In February petrol was a good 15c a litre cheaper in Austria than Germany. You'll need to stop at some point either side of the border anyway to get the Austrian motorway vignette. The end of the Fernpass isn't too far from Innsbruck and the route into Italy.
  11. For once can you admit that there is a cock-up? No "yes buts" and "what abouts". This is a bit of egg on face for the Government isn't it?
  12. Well I did and I thought he looked pretty good. Opinions eh! Granted, he wouldn't set the pulses racing if we were an established top half Prem team but we're not. He could be a very good addition to our squad.
  13. Have you checked the charges that your bank/credit cards attract for use abroad? They can be steep if you're not careful (go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com). My cards aren't great so I use a prepaid Euro Mastercard which offered me a great conversion rate and it can be topped up easily online. Only drawback is that while it's free to use for transactions it does cost €1.50 for cash withdrawals (see http://www.fairfx.com).
  14. And where would it go? Can't see Gaydamak agreeing to this. Maybe it could go in the waste ground behind the Fratton End - that would be apt. If famous Pompey fans are in the running to be "models" for the statue can I suggest the youngest female to ever receive an ASBO? EDIT: Apologies, it was a boy. Aged 10. Nice http://www.cps.gov.uk/news/articles/football040604/
  15. You missed my point. Your comment suggested that you were critical of tax avoidance. On the Jimmy Carr thread people who criticised tax avoidance were termed lefties.
  16. Be careful Dune, appraently only 'lefties' dissapprove of tax avoidance.
  17. Yes, cos the care system has been proven to deliver fantastic results right?!
  18. Think you're being a bit rigid in your concept of "right" and "left". Are no right wingers caring? Are no right wingers outraged by Barclays? As for Sugar surely no one could possibly suggest that he isn't a big fan of capitalism. How is fronting a programme which promotes entreprenuership and capitalism (albeit in a sensational exaggerated manner) making him hypocritical? In any case Labour has shown itself to a big fan of big business and the City so Sugar isn't being hypocritical. If you said that Blair, Brown et al were hypocritical for pretending to be of the left then I'd agree with that.
  19. True but the trouble is that schemes like those emplyed by Carr are definitely against the spirit of law if not technically illegal.
  20. I don't want to be reactionary but people get far less for all sort of nasty crimes. Community service would've been much more appropriate.
  21. Does that mean we shouldn't hope that the current Government do better?
  22. 1. My best was 9, now...not so good. 2. Maintain my natural rythem 3. Spend more on lessons than fancy clubs My own tip: Don't bore the tits off people with tall tales of the eagle you nearly made or the massive drive that just bounced into the out-of-bounds etc. I love playing golf but I have to say the chat that goes with it from many is so tiring.
  23. how does that work when your addressing the ball?
