  1. When they were in the Premier League, with an ambitious and reasonably credible owner (Mandick), getting capacity crowds, at a time of economic health and rising property market, and with clear ownership of the ground and surrounding land - they couldn't get a viable new stadium / major redevelopment off the ground (save for Mandick's laughable JCB publicity stunt). Now they are in the wrong half of the second tier, crowds have dwindled, a CVA has to be serviced, they no longer own all of the needed land, the property market has gone tits up, risky lending is a no-no, and they have an unproven pair of owners with no credible track record - and yet some stupid skates think a new stadium is a realistic possibility! Deluded is too kind to them.
  2. man, you're wired!
  3. from the punning angle I'd say that there are positives and negatives in this one, a great effort let down by some loose connections. TBF I'm feeling a little drained by the need to come up with new puns, I'm going to switch my attention to some other threads and then re-visit when I'm fully charged.
  4. some of these puns have been shocking but it has at least generated some debate. From the responses on this thread it is clear which posters are the livewires
  5. Despite recent low gates, the skates are convinced that they need a sparkly new stadium and bigger capacity. http://www.fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=381557
  6. Well I got a ticket last time despite having no other away games to my name. Pretty sure it will go to a General sale (database only) if they let it.
  7. Forgot that I had Skyplused this match. Watched the after match chat last night and didn't detect any negativity towards Saints from either Murty or Beagrie. Some people need to be a bit less precious.
  8. Wasn't there an incident recently with a white tiger being spotted near the Rose Bowl?
  9. Brighton have looked pretty poor, no width or penetration.
  10. That's comforting to know
  11. You followed the team to Reading not f'ing Timbuctoo, I don't think any medals are in the offing.
  12. Agreed, not even close to one of his best games but he played in SDR and was better than a few. He was easily better than Connoly but got far more criticism on here.
  13. Great point. You often get people moaning on here about the atmosphere at St Mary's but even a poor night at SMS would easily beat today at the Madjeski (and indeed many other grounds). As for the game itself - sometimes you have to put your hands up and say that the opposition played really well. Their recent form belies their league position and it wouldn't be a surprise if they climbed the table fairly quickly. That said we were pretty sloppy in possession and Guly and Connoly in particular just didn't get going. We improved no end when SDR came on for Connoly(?) and the ball started to stick up front. Would like to see Adkins try a fluid 4-5-1 away from home to make sure we dominate possession a bit more and soak up the early effort from the opposition. Considering they didn't get a lot of protection from midfield I thought Davis and the defence were really good tonight.
  14. Good link, followed by the comment from "Chocolate Box Kid" (presumably one of ours on here):
  15. Only just read this thread, mightily impressed with the informed and reasoned response of some very dogged posters in challenging the lazy wilful ignorance of others.
  16. Give her a break, she's never been mis-informed before....... ....much
  17. Do they know he has no medals left to auction if they go tits-up again?
  18. That's well known but unfortunately it is completely made up. The organisation mentioned never existed nor can anyone find any reference to any strike in Portsmouth docks which, when you remember is a Naval dockyard, isn't surprising.
  19. That doesn't sound in any way credible. On the other if you'd have said someone that you know was told by someone else who a Wolves corporate guest who was told by somone else again then I'd find it a lot more believable.
  20. Must be the 2 year waiting time for hip replacements that has so upset you. Oh I forgot that was just made up bvllsh1t. FFS. We really don't need another Dune coming out with more reactionary bvllsh1t. Anyway given that you're obviously not part of the "we know best arrogance" brigade why are you on here? It's quite clear that you're arrogant so I can only conclude that you're not part of the "we don't know best" brigade. In which case thanks for your contribution.
  21. Brilliant so someone told you on POL who was told by someone else who was told by someone else again about Barnard and Lambert's wage packet. Well I grant you that is powerful evidence! In any case £12.5k a week each doesn't sound too pricey.
  22. Looks like Dune-itis has spread. You despise "we know best" arrogance and yet call those with a different opinion "bleeding-heart liberal mongs". Great stuff.
  23. Wow, you get a load of bull**** written on this forum every day but this is priceless. Israel is illegally annexing large sections of Palestinian land not because of the extreme religious views of many of its settlers ("it's our land, the old testament says so"), and not because the Israeli government want to irrevocably change the 'facts on the ground' so that a return to 1967 borders is impossible, and not because a large section of the Israeli economy is based on the settler's building boom. No it is because wherever you get large groups of soldiers you inevitably get hospitals and schools, retail parks and condo developments. In fact this is exactly what has followed the NATO forces in Afghanistan and Iraq isn't it? Thousands of US and UK civilians are now living in settlements in Iraq and Afghanistan along with churches, schools, hospitals and leisure facilities. Wait - this hasn't happened, surely not! It's fine to back one side over another, but just because you back one side doesn't mean you should go blind to their faults and crimes. The middle-east is full of shades of grey you know.
  24. Now that wouldn't surprise me!
